ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light. It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb. The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. But most importantly of all... you're not alone. Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways. [If it helps at all, to Kyle this isn't thinking about this being like cheerleading (that's for girls anyway, isn't it?); rather, he thinks it's pretty fucking sweet that Keith is so strong! He'll have to ask later whether this is the sort of thing where the glowing outfit adds to Keith's strength or not. Never mind that the kid is small and not heavy at all.

Kyle reaches out with one of his hands, feeling out the surface of the wall for anything he can grip. He almost wants to celebrate when he does--but there's a long way to go, and he's more than aware of that.]

Yeah! I got something. It's a bit higher too, so if there's more I should be able to climb up.

[It'll be a lot easier once he can get some of the ledges under his feet.]

You can let go now. I'm ready.

[Less with the suit more with the fact that he now spends every day of his life getting his ass handed to him a bunch of aliens as training. Never mind the actual missions and battles.

But he releases Kyle's foot so that the kid can scramble. For now Keith will stand below and watch.

[He climbs a few feet up without too much of an issue. The hard part is not being able to see clearly enough to plan his movements ahead of time. It's slow-going, but Kyle's trying his best.

After about ten feet, he looks up, realizing he still has quite a ways to go, then back down.]

At what point do I have to worry about dying if I fall?

Depends how you fall.

[Helpful and reassuring, Keith. He's a kid. Come on. But Keith adds,] Don't worry about it and don't look down. If you fall, I'll catch you, okay? Just keep going. One handhold at a time.

[And he will do his best to catch him if he slips. He's not just going to let a kid fall and get himself killed or break a leg or something. No way.]
