ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light. It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb. The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. But most importantly of all... you're not alone. Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways. It can't be random. There's so many of us. Things like this can't be nothing but coincidences.

[That's what Keith is telling himself anyway.]

You're right. We can go around in circles in our head all we want, but it won't change anything.

We need some hard facts. Evidence. Anything.

Leads, for certain. If there is truth, there must be a lead we can find.

[Yusuke gazes at him a long moment... and then oh, something hits.]

I have been remiss in introducing myself. I am Yusuke Kitagawa.

Oh right. Sorry. I'm Keith.

[He holds out a hand to shake. See. HE can be a good boy with good manners.]

Good to meet you, Yusuke. Even in this weird place.

[And it is. This guy is weird. But pretty okay.]

It is good to meet you as well.

[HAND SHAKE]

I'm certain whatever mysteries this place contains won't remain mysteries for long.

[Not when there're so many motivated people around!!]

Here's hoping. I'm ready to get out of here already.

[To say the least. Even if he's pretty sure that getting out of here means he goes to his death. Still, he'd rather be sure that it worked and his friends are going to be okay. So even that he's eager to get back to.]

[Perhaps where he's from the situation isn't as urgent as Keith's... but Yusuke acknowledges in his head he ought to get back as soon as possible.

Even if it itches at the artist part of him to leave a world so... colourless.]

I am certain that we will find the way.

[Yusuke will actually get a smile out of him. Keith's not one for hopping on the optimism train without some coaxing, but okay. He appreciates the hopefulness quite a bit right now. It's felt a little overwhelming being stuck here, with no one familiar, with no answers and no ideas how to even find them.]

Yeah. Me too. ...thanks.

[Not optimism, determination! Yusuke's been there shattering worse odds, so he has confidence even if there are no known leads yet.

His brow furrows like he's confused by his thanks.]

You don't need to thank me, I think.

Maybe not. But... still I guess it's just nice to hear someone else who believes we're going to get out of here.

[A shrug of his shoulders, oddly uncomfortable because did he do something awkward by thanking him? Goodness knows he's good at that.] It was starting to feel a little hopeless. And I can't give into that.

[...Oh. Yusuke's eyes widen.

Sometimes the intricacies of human interaction totally escape Yusuke. But now that Keith has explained, he understands and appreciates the reason Keith thanked him. So he smiles.]

That's right.

It's too early to give in to hopelessness. Our lack of information and leads is, of course, disheartening. But we have allies here who share the drive to discover the truth and return where we should be.

[lonered]

[Wait. Did he not make things awkward and kill the conversation? When he sees that smile, he has to figure that he must not have. And there's an answering smile finding its way over his own features.]

Yeah. That's right. We're all in this together, so even if it feels like a dead end now, I suppose none of us are on our own anyway. And we can't give up when we've just started.

[bufudyne]

Precisely. I would do the friends and people I know a disservice were I to give up.

Not to mention you and the others trapped here with us.

[So, he's determined! And Keith's determined. Maybe determination alone can't solve everything, but he knows that having it doesn't make you any less likely to achieve your goals.]

[lonered]

Yeah. People here and back home both. We gotta keep pushing forward.

[Okay. Good. Push forward keep going don't look back. Keith can handle that. That's the way that he works best in all honesty. Somehow he feels a little better after this conversation, like he's got his feet under him securely.]

[bufudyne]

[Yusuke nods once, as though affirming Keith's words. Did he... well, did he help boost Keith's morale some? Yusuke's well-aware that he's been sheltered and is still learning about how to interact with people.]

And when we discover things we cannot yet get past, we will deal with them at that time.

[Yusuke pauses briefly and then he frankly informs Keith bc this is just what you share with people right:]

... I think that speaking with you has helped me as well. Even I wavered a moment in this odd place.

Right. We'll tackle whatever gets in our way when it comes up. Until then, we just have to stay focused.

[What really? Keith can't help a little smile at what Yusuke says. Has it really? Good. He's not the greatest at this meeting new people thing, but it's nice to think he helped a little too, given how Yusuke helped him.

This guy does seem pretty okay.]

[Mutual helping!! Also truly their mutual social awkwardness has just, like, cancelled each other's out.]

Not to be too abrupt, however... would you be able to tell me a little more about what it's like in space?

[A remarkable turn of events really, that somehow awkward + awkward came out to something better than double awkward. Keith can't help but look suprised at the question.]

Yeah, of course. I mean, what do you want to know? I don't mind talking about it.

[A lot of it is fairly unbelievable in a way, but there's a lot familiar as well, somehow.]

Are there alien planets out there? With alien peoples? I would be quite interested in hearing about them.

Oh, yeah. There are, a lot. We're definitely not alone in the universe. And some species don't really have a planet of their own anymore.

[Like the Alteans. Like the Galra, for that matter.] Some of them look a lot like humans. Some look entirely different.

[bufudyne]

I see... what would be the most unusual appearing alien, would you say?

[Pls describe... it’s for the sake of art. ]

Uh. Well. I mean some of the Galra are pretty unique looking. Really, really purple. Pointed ears. Darker purple markings on their skin, their face. A lot of their eyes just sort of... glow. Yellow, usually. Not all though. There's something almost feline about them.

[Feline an feral, even among the Galra they call allies, his fellow Blades.] Still humanoid though.

The Arusians are different too. They're small. Really small. And, honestly, kind of adorable? Curled horns like rams, almost?

[Yusuke murmurs to himself and maybe he’s got his sketchbook in his hand and he might be attempting to sketch a rough picture of what Keith is describing. He nods intermittently as he listens. ]
