ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

Of course not, but even so...

[ He sighs, but drops it altogether. This wasn't a time to be scolding anyone just yet. Besides, Kyle quickly earns sympathy from him when he mentions being alone. That's no good at all-- a kid? On his own in this lifeless, creepy town? Unacceptable. ]

Well, that's no good, bambino. I'm Caramia, by the way. Would you like me to escort you?

[It's not that Kyle is used to adults who care (it can easily be argued that his mother, for example, cares too much); he's just used to other adults around him either being too oblivious or too stupid to just really notice that 'hey, this isn't a great situation for a ten year old to be in alone!'

Caramia seems nice enough, and it's probably safer to be sticking with someone than getting lost on his own.]

I'm Kyle. I don't know where I'm going yet, but yeah, you can come along. There could be something dangerous around here, for all we know.

Honestly, I don't think anyone knows quite where they're going.

[ Wait, that wasn't reassuring. ]

Er-- but, we can have a look around and see if we can find anything helpful. Maybe a safe place to sleep for the night? [ As much as Caramia hated to admit it... he didn't want this child anywhere near the forest, so he pointed towards the opposite direction-- towards the water (gross). ] This way, maybe?

I would if I had my phone, assuming a Google map of this place existed.

[He's going to be salty when he realizes just how disconnected he's going to be from the internet and everything. For now, it's just awareness of not having his phone.]

That way's worth a shot. [At this point, anything is--and honestly, right now he'd rather stick to the limits of the town. There's too many unknowns to risk the forest. The water's strange, but in an intriguing sort of way so he's content enough to walk toward it with Caramia.] Where are you from?

[ Caramia looks confused for a moment, but decides not to ask what a "Google" is. Talk about embarrassing. Instead, he's just guiding Kyle towards Bluo for now. Hopefully there he can find somewhere safe for him. ]

A place called "Oz". I imagine it's pretty far from here, though... Wherever here may be.

[Oz is something he recognizes; granted, it's ingrained in the pop culture he's grown up around. But is he going to say that? No. It's probably just a coincidental name, something like that.

Look, he's not keen on making a fool of himself.]

I have a feeling this place is far from anywhere that anyone knows. Or so I hope? It would suck to have always lived in a place like this.

Well, it doesn't look like it's been a while since anyone has. That's probably why everything looks so old here.

[ Briefly, Caramia wonders if this isn't just a different place, but a different time? He certainly hopes not. ]

Regardless, I'm sure we'll find our way out of here in no time at all. We can look through some of these houses and see if there's any blankets or beds available in the meantime.

Yeah. This place is a ghost town.

[It's hard to pinpoint just when they are, as well as where. The lack of color makes it even more difficult.]

That'll work for the short term--but what if we can't figure out how to leave this place?

Oi, bambino, don't think like that. Of course we're doing to figure out a way to leave this place. There was a way in, so there's a way out.

[ He gives Kyle's hand a reassuring squeeze. ]

You can count on me, alright?

[It means a lot to him; Kyle is often so certain in his day-to-day life, but right now? Right now it helps that there's someone older, someone a little more confident in their ability to go home.]

Okay. Yeah, alright. [He offers Caramia a smile. He's just got to have faith and try.] We can work together.

[ Well, he's glad that even when he wasn't a designated leader, the kids were still good at listening to him. That makes him a little happier than it should have. ]

Sounds good to me. If you find anything interesting, just let me know! If we look around well enough, we'll be out of here in no time.

[ Without realizing it, he's slowly been guiding Kyle to Bluo. Which, was a little strange, since he wanted to be away from water as much as he could, but... it was the only district he hadn't gone through yet. Guess it was inevitable... ]
