ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

[The last thing he remembered was standing on that catwalk over the academy grounds, bitter snow whipping at him and Yukio as his brother stared with an expression colder than the weather.

Yukio wasn't going to go with him.

His chest ached so hard at the thought it was difficult not to grimace visibly.]

I-... Y-yeah. I have to find him. He's not-- He might be in trouble...

[Ah, but he looks so sad. Waking up in this strange place had certainly been a pain, but it's not like she'd been ripped away from anything particularly important. It looks like he was, though. She stands there for a moment, unsure of the proper hero-like thing to do in this situation, before finally deciding to just do what comes naturally: reach out to lay a comforting hand on his arm.]

He's really important to you, isn't he? I promise that I'll help you look for him when we get out of here.

[She's being so nice to him. They met literal seconds ago and she was offering to help him find his brother.

As much as it hurt to think about that last moment together with Yukio, he couldn't help but offer her a sad smile in return for the gesture.]

Yeah... thanks...

[A pause, then--]

Er. Sorry, m'name is Rin. Rin Okumura.

It's no problem! And it's nice to meet you, Rin. I'm Ochako Uraraka!

[Saying "nice to meet you" sounds a little strange, especially since he's clearly going through some things right now, but it's the polite thing to say!! Giving his arm one last pat, she once again holds outs her hand for him to grab.]

Ready to get going?

[A bit, but he won't fault her for it. What else was she supposed to say, really? Anything else would have been even more awkward.

He looks at her hand again, vaguely recalling that she had been trying to point out something about it before he had his momentary freak out over Yukio being missing.

Right, whatever. Not important. Getting out was the focus right now. He nodded, taking her hand.]

Yeah.

[She grasps his hand firmly, making sure all five of her fingertips are touching his skin before activating her quirk. And--voilà! They are both slowly rising up into the air! Shifting from a normal state to a weightless one is probably an odd sensation for him, but it's Old News for her. Another day, another sinking sensation in her stomach. How... wonderful.]

It's not so bad, right? It's weird at first, but you'll get used to it. [And hopefully not get as nauseous as she will.] Just let me know if it starts getting to you! We can always find another way up.

Wh-whoa!

[Well, that explained what she meant by being afraid of heights. Which he wasn't, but that didn't stop him from being startled at the sudden weightlessness. Internally he felt like he was in an unexpected elevator ride, that stomach-sinking feeling happening regardless of how slow she was taking it.

He stared down as his feet left the ground, eyes wide and the end of his tail twitching nervously. The rest of it was keeping a very tight grip on his sword, not wanting to lose it down in the well.]

N... no this is... fine...

[Did his voice just crack?]

[Oh, it totally did. But she's going to pretend like she didn't hear anything out of the ordinary, because he's already going through enough and she's just nice like that.]

It might seem a little slow, but it shouldn't take too long. And... you know, if you want me to make that sword float, too, all you have to do is bring it close enough for me to touch it with my other hand. That should make it easier to hold.

[Bless you, child.]

Uh.

[He looks weirdly uncomfortable at her suggestion. More so than the floating is making him.]

I can hold on to it...

[Sorry, nothing against you, Ochako. He has reasons to be very attached to his weapon.]

[The discomfort is noted, and while she's curious--who wouldn't be?--she isn't about to force the issue. She simply shrugs before tilting her head back to monitor their progress.]

Your tail must really strong, then. Kind of like this one person I know! His tail is super strong, too.

[Boys and their tails: a normal topic of conversation.]

Heh... yeah. Its not that heavy, though.

[To him, anyway. He's been carrying Kurikara for what? A year now? Something close to that. He barely notices it until he needs to.

He knows he's being weird about it, and even though she's focused on getting them out of there he can't blame her for being curious momentarily.]

Sorry... 'mnot really supposed to let anyone else touch it.

[Is it.......... cursed?]

It's okay! It's yours, so you make the rules. [She'll just file that away for further consideration. Maybe. For now, the top of the well is quickly approaching and she'll just focus on that.] It's good that both of your hands are free, though. In a second, I'm going to let go, so try to grab the edge of the well as quickly as you can and pull yourself over, okay? I'll release my quirk when we're both over solid ground.

[Not exactly.

Poke him about it later, he might be more willing to discuss what it means to him and why he has to carry it around.

For now though, he'll focus on getting them out of the well with her instructions. He nods to what she said, waiting for that weightless sensation to leave before reaching for the edge of the wet, mossy stones.

Its not the easiest grip to maintain with the surface being so slick and worn but his strength gives him the needed boost to haul himself over it on to solid ground.

He turned then, offering his own hand to her in case she needed help getting there.]

[How kind! She accepts his hand gratefully, floating right out over the edge of the well before quickly releasing her quirk... and landing right on her butt as she falls to the ground. What a relief it is to be back on solid ground. She's just going to sit right where she is for a moment, trying to, you know, not to throw up as the world continues to spin around her.]

I-I just need a minute! Sorry...

[She knows that Rin is probably looking around at everything in shock, but she can't really do anything to help him at the moment. Vertigo is the wooooorst.]

[He was, because seeing that sort of... blankness was pretty shocking. There were trees like one would expect in a forest but he had never seen anything so devoid of color.

Or... well. He had. But it had been made out of literal rot, and he'd rather not think that the Impure King had something to do with this mess. Not after all the trouble he went through to get rid of that thing.

He doesn't focus on it for long, though. The 'whump!' of Ochako landing on her butt next to him shook Rin out of his reverie.]

Whoa, h-hey! Are you okay?! You didn't get hurt did you?!

[She waves a hand in the air, trying to sit up straight and play it off like she's totally fine... except she's totally not. She hunches back over almost immediately, hand going up to cover her mouth.]

'm fine! Just-- [HURK. She sucks down a deep breath, focusing on her breathing as she tries to get everything under control.] This is normal!

[Well, that's true, at least. And it's terrible.]

Ohgeez--

[Yeah that's really not okay, and he sure as hell isn't going to leave her to deal with that alone. He never gets sick, but he's been around Yukio's numerous colds and flus to know how awful it is.

Kneeling down he put a hand on her back, digging in his bag until he fished out a bottle of water.]

Here...

[Bottled water? Oh my God, he's a lifesaver. She accepts it with a murmured thanks, immediately twisting off the top to take a quick sip. Ah, so refreshing! She'll just take a few more sips, close her eyes, and keep focusing on breathing in nice and slow. For a few minutes, anyway.

Soon, though, she's feeling normal enough to crack her eyes back open and shoot him a (slightly shaky) smile.]

Thanks! It's not always this bad, but I've really been pushing my quirk to the limit today. [Oh wait, is that worrying? Better follow it up with something reassuring.] The water is a huge help, though! Good call!

[He did manage to pack a few things before charging headlong into saving his brother, for all the good that did.

But it was helping here, so he'll give past him a gold star for that one.]

How many people you been liftin' outta there? Maybe you should give it a rest...

[A lot.]

Not that many. Besides, it's not like I could just stop once I got started. So many people wanted out, you know? It's a hero's responsibility to help as many people as they can.

[At least she looks rather sheepish about the whole thing?]

But I think a lot of different people are helping now. I know my friends are, at least! That means I have time to help you look for your friend.

Brother.

[A small correction, but he's actually more focused on her at the moment.]

You sure? I get the whole hero thing, but if you completely wreck yourself you won't be able to help anyone.
