ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light. It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb. The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. But most importantly of all... you're not alone. Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways. At least when Dave speaks, Ouni seems to finally realize what he's doing—except he's still really pissed off (not at Dave, though) so, uh. His powers aren't dying down, but he'll helpfully suggest,]

... Stay away from me...

[His voice is strained, as if he's trying (and failing) to calm himself down.]

Uh...okay? [ he'll, like. back off another ten feet. is this guy about to attack? should he draw his sword? dave doesn't know, but he'll just follow the reasonable request first and foremost.

if a dude wants some arm room, by all means he can have it. especially if it takes dave out of paper cut range.

[Ouni's not about to attack, thankfully. Instead, he breathes in and out; slowly, the dark symbols fade away, as do the markings on Ouni's skin.

Once that's done, he glances around wildly, as if looking for something. Sorry, Dave, you've temporarily been forgotten.]

...Drop your contacts? [ he DOUBTS it given how ouni is outfitted, probably, but like. yo, need a hand, bro? ]

[That snaps Ouni out of it enough for him to give Dave a befuddled glance.]

[Yeah, uh, what the hell are contacts.]

[Ouni's glancing around again, though between the fact that he doesn't seem to be finding what he's looking for and Dave distracting him, he doesn't seem quite as desperate anymore.]

That makes no sense.

You put them in by jabbing yourself in the eye, and then they make you see better if you can't? And then you are contractually obligated to lose them at inopportune moments so you can have meetcutes with people who come along to help you feel up the carpet to try to find them.

It doesn't help that Ouni has no idea if he's being serious or not, as he stares at Dave trying to figure just that out. He knows nothing about the outside world, so this could be legit??]

[Well, just being nosy is a step up from attempted murder, so Dave is already doing better than 90% of the strangers Ouni has met in his life.]

I got zero interest in getting involved in yet more people's murder sprees in either direction. I am one hundred percent sure you ain't interested in taking out someone I actually know, so like. Okay? You do you, dude. Maybe I should give you some speech about how murder and violence are wrong, but we literally just met and that seems like it'd be a lot of effort.

[It would indeed be a lot of effort seeing how as far as Ouni's concerned, murder and violence solve like 90% of one's problems.]

[ a shrug, casual. ] I don't really have any problems with people I don't know. I think to get to that point you have to kinda actually know someone. Like, it's hard to work up to a real good dislike of someone who hasn't at least said something completely tone-deaf to you, you know? I'm Dave, by the way.

[Well, he can't really disagree with that, as someone who can't be bothered to actually dislike most people (until they kill his friends, anyway, in which case they get the aforementioned murderous rage).

[Dave gets his name (unlike say, oh, Minato) because he's not weirding him out with niceness.]

Well, anarchy isn't the most popular form of government for some reason, I guess? I know some people who wouldn't disagree with you, though. Trolls are very pro-murder as a retaliation thing.
