ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

That is a great way of looking at it, I think. I would prefer being together anyway so we have a better chance of figuring stuff out.

[Having experience being stuck alone and waiting for other people to show up, he would rather not experience that ever again.]

There was a lot of water in that well, so I am not surprised. [But he steps forward to pick up the coat first, holding it up for a second...

...before it just casually gets trapped in a small, encased hurricane. The Windy Thing still works at least and John's grateful for that, but it takes a few minutes of the coat swirling around in dry air to hopefully tumble the cloth dry.]

It might still be a little damp but hopefully it is a little better.

My thoughts exactly.

[ Sixty heads are better than one. Or something like that. Caramia was about to complain (again) about the water in the well, but only is able to catch a gasp in his throat as John uses his Breath aspect on the coat. His eyes go wide and and despite how much older than John he was, Caramia still manages to look at him with such childish wonder. ]

That was incredible. Are you a wizard?

[ He didn't even know there were other wizards. Well, he certainly isn't in Oz anymore, so maybe John was just the Wizard of his own world?! How amazing! ]

Thank you so much! I really owe you one!!

[That reaction is a little surprising (John's usually the one who's easily enchanted by magic or people's powers) and he smiles easily once the wind and everything dies down.]

I don't think so, but my sister is technically a Witch! [...was...ah. His expression shifts for a few split seconds but it's quick and easy to ignore before he shrugs.] I'm not sure if there is a Wizard class, but it's just my aspect. Don't be silly though! I do not mind doing it.

[Being wet and cold sucks and the godtier pajamas (being eternally clean and magical somehow) are pretty dry. It seemed fair to help other people.]

[ This just excites Caramia more. Once he takes his coat back and it's promptly put back against his shoulders where it belongs, Caramia's reaching forward to take both of John's hands in his own. ]

A witch? [ A good one, he assumes. ] Does she know Glinda, by chance?! [ Caramia, no. ]

[Whoa! Okay, cool, so enthusiasm is totally fine and he doesn't pull away despite the slight surprise that comes with the action.]

Uh...I think she knows of her at least! [TMW your canon is littered with Wizard of Oz references and you do not want to crush this nice man's dreams...] But I do not think they have met personally. We were kind of out of touch with most people for the last three years.

[ It's fine, John. Crush his dreams, he deserves it. ]

Oh! I guess that makes sense. I haven't seen her in such a long time.

[ Ah, wait, don't start thinking about that now, Caramia. He lets go of John's hands, straightening himself up. ]

Scusa, almost forgot we have more important things going on. I'm Caramia, by the way. Grazie again for drying off my coat.

[He wants to ask when he ever saw Glinda the Good Witch but he figures now isn't the time and it's probably not polite to cross-examine a total stranger. Instead, he replies with another grin even when he draws his hands back.]

John. It's nice to meet you, and seriously no problem. Usually the Windy Thing is bigger and I could have ironed them for you instead but I am pretty sure this place is lacking electricity. [...probably. If it's lacking color.] It's weird being here, isn't it? I am still trying to decide how I feel about it.

The Windy Thing? Is that what you call your magic?

[ How silly. This town might've been completely dreadful thus far, but at least the people that appeared here were nice. ]

"Weird" is an understatement. I have so many questions and I don't think this place has any answers. None yet visible, anyway. I haven't exactly done my part to look around yet...

Part of it, yeah. I think it is just called wind magic but some people call it the Windy Thing since that is what my aspect is. [It's a weird explanation he doesn't quite know what to do with but he'll leave it at that.] But I can do all kinds of stuff with it, so it's nice to know it still works here!

Maybe this place does not have obvious answers, but we can't be totally lost. That would make zero sense. [But hm...] Do you want to go together? It's a pretty big town, so even if we look around with other people I bet we won't cover everything in one day.

[ You lost Caramia somewhere along the way there, John. But he's still smiling at and pretending to listen until John gets back onto something he can actually following along with. ]

Yeah? I'd be happy to. Better to have a second pair of eyes. [ Especially since his eyesight isn't the best. ] The company would be nice, too. Though, I can't say I'm too sure where we'd even start?

[Sorry about him, and thanks for playing along.]

That's kind of how I feel, too. I'm used to exploring by myself but this place is huge. [There's a pause as he allows himself to think.] How do you feel about the water?

[ Caramia would ask him questions, but hoenstly there's just Too Much to take in at this point, so he'll just pretend like things are making sense. So, hey, you dodged a bullet there yourself, John.

However, he seems to go a tad rigid when water is brought up. Immediately after, Caramia's face twists up in disgust. ] I'm not that fond... Especially not the water here. It feels off.

...Why do you ask?

[Ah. That's a fair assessment to make and John shakes his head.]

The ocean was one of the places I haven't checked out yet and want to get a better look at later. But there are also a few buildings away from the water I'd like to check out. When I got a better view of the town it looked like everything was split into three places plus the ocean and the forest. It's weirdly symmetrical.

[ "Why would you WANT to go back to any sort of water?!" is Caramia's first thought, and it probably shows on his face. Still, that's a bit rude, and he acknowledges that much. Not everyone has the aversion to water he does, after all. ]

So long as we're not going in the water... I could accompany you. [ He just might be a tad grumpy about it. ] There very well might be something over there, and... it's better to get it out of the way.

I definitely do not plan on going in the water. [Not until Vriska happens and he knocks them in, but that's neither here nor there.] There are houseboats and other areas that wouldn't hurt to look around. And the more of us who are checking out the area, the more we can all compare notes. We can stay far away from the water if you want.

Well, I do want to have a look around everywhere I can, so... it's better I get the one I don't want to go to the most, first.

[ Wouldn't that be the well, Caramia? Isn't it logical to look in there and check that place out? It is where you all ended up. ]

[And off they head to the ocean to examine everything.]
