Intro Log.

Pussy's in the well. Who put her in? Little Johnny Thin. Who pulled her out? Little Tommy Stout. What a naughty boy was that, To try to drown poor pussy cat, Who never did him any harm, But killed all the mice in the farmer's barn.
Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.
ii.
No worries, signorina. It was my fault, I was in my own world.
[ The question, though, caused him to ponder slightly. He looked around for a solid second, tilting his head as his cat-like eyes scanned the area. ]
I can't tell. There's certainly no landmarks or anything I recognize. Doesn't even smell familiar at all... Ah, but I'm sure if we keep looking, we're sure to find some kind of answer.
no subject
I guess I sounded a little pessimistic, huh? [She reaches up to rub the back of her head.] But you're right! Someone has to know something about this place, so I'll just keep asking around. And I'll keep looking around, too!
[SUNSHINE and OPTIMISM.]
no subject
[ And this is truly how the sunshine squad begins...! Really, though, Caramia was just happy to see that she was being so positive. He was a little worried about her, however. Perhaps it was because she was still just a child in his eyes? That was probably it. ]
If you'd like, I could join you. The company would be nice, and maybe we could help one another?
no subject
That sounds good to me! It's a little creepy to walk around this place all alone. [She extends a hand toward him, smiling warmly.] I'm Uravity! Well... Ochako, really. I'm glad I bumped into you!
no subject
That in mind, he happily shook her hand. ]
I'm glad you did, too! I'm Caramia. It's a pleasure.
no subject
So where should we start? [She turns slightly, eyeing the buildings around them. There's a weird little feeling in her gut that's telling her to go a certain way, but she's not sure if she should trust it... actually, what is that they say? Trust your gut? Swallowing her misgivings, she points toward the beginning of the Ruga district.] This way, maybe?
no subject
Briefly, he thinks that maybe starting in the well to look around would've been for the best. That was where they appeared, after all. However, that answer seemed to simple, and this place didn't seem like it'd give a very simple solution.
So, instead, he already starts his way for the territory. ]
Any start's better than none.
no subject
And that's why she's right on his heels as he leads the way. Ochako is making sure to inspect their surroundings very carefully as they walk down the cobblestone path, body tensing just in case someone--or something--decides to jump out at them. It looks abandoned, but you can never be too sure! She will protect her new friend as best she can!]
How old do you think these buildings are? [She reaches out to touch the side of one as they walk by it, feeling the edge of the brick crumble beneath her fingertips. That's totally reassuring.] It doesn't look like anyone has lived in the for a long time.
no subject
Despite the mystery and eeriness about the town, he still strode along very casually, holding himself with a lot of pride in his walk. Being careful? Looking out for potential threats? Not this lion. Just volunteer to charge in recklessly...! ]
Couldn't tell you just from looking at them. They very well could be my age. [ Should probably mention you're older than you look, Caramia. ]
I don't think so, either. I can't even pick up on anyone's scent beyond those who were in the well with us, but... nothing really smells right in this town, so I can't say for sure how helpful that is.
no subject
You can... smell everyone? Does that mean you can track them, too? That's such a useful quirk to have! [Quirks are such a normal part of life for her that she just charges right ahead, not even bothering to explain. Be grateful she's impressed, I guess??] Maybe you'll be able to sense more things as we go further in.
[SHE HOPES.]
no subject
I'm hoping... at the very least, before it gets dark out, I'd like to find somewhere warm (and safe) for the lot of us so we can pick this up later if need be...
no subject
Definitely. So many people are scared, and we should do we can to make this a little easier for them.
[But look at the state of some of these buildings? Her eyes slide over to the nearest one, and she can't help but to pull a face.]
It's good that... there are so many places for us to choose from?
[Stay positive... stay positive...]
no subject
[ He's impressed by her ability to look on the bright side of things. These houses were... not great, after all. If they could just find some blankets or... softer places to sleep. Preferably not-rotten wood... They had their work cut out for them. ]
I... suppose. I'm sure these were all once nice houses. [ He also makes a face at them regardless that clearly states "they're not anymore, however". ] I guess we can't have the luxury to complain, though. We'll find our way out of here soon enough, and a proper roof over our head will be suitable for now.
no subject
Right! Shelter is important. We should look for blankets, too, and food... and first aid supplies, maybe? I've not seen anyone that's hurt, but that was a pretty steep climb out of the well. [She slams a fist down into the palm of her other hand, clearly starting to get rather Pumped Up.] We have our work cut out for us, so let's give it our all!
no subject
[ Caramia's more than happy to start taking a few long strides ahead of the little hero to where he recalled the store is. He wasn't expecting anything extravagant, but if he could at least get his hands on a knife, that would've been enough. It'd come in handy for making fires and even cooking later.
Though, once there, he was polite enough to let Ochako in first (after poking his head in to make sure it was empty, of course). ]
no subject
It looks like there's all kinds of things in here. [She gingerly steps into the store(?), scanning the junk that seems to be scattered all over the place.] Some of it looks like it's already been picked over, but maybe we'll find everything we need in one place. Good job, Caramia!
[A pile of paper on a distant counter catches her eye, and she stops talking in order to hurry over to it. It looks like newspapers, maybe? Or things definitely folded like newspapers. She picks up one, carefully holding it between her fingers as she lifts it up to the little bit of light that's drifting inside.]
It's... blank? [That's weird? Unfolding it, she watches worriedly as the bottom half of it starts crumbling into dust. How old is this stuff, anyway?] Everything about this place keeps getting weirder and weirder...
no subject
Can't say I'm surprised. It's probably first instinct to find supplies. [ Is she praising him? How sweet. He gives a cheerful smile in response.
He pitters off from Ochako to do some exploring of his own, taking careful steps to make sure the floor was sturdy enough to hold him up. Not that it was any worse off than the homes in the Ruga district, but what with everything threatening to crumble, he really didn't want to press his luck. He looks through the disastrous mess, mostly on the search for a knife of some kind, since that's a Basic for any kind of survival, but... ]
...?
[ He doesn't immediately understand what she meant, not until he picks his head up, anyway. Concern quickly forms, but not about the newspaper or the worry of this bizarre town, but rather that of Ochako. She shouldn't have to worry about things like this. It sucked because she had to in this sort of situation, but the poor girl was not even an adult yet...
Something soft pulls Caramia's attention down to where he finds he'd slowly been leaning into a few rolls of toilet paper. There's only a brief second of jumbled thoughts that couldn't organize themselves and he's picking up one of the rolls to toss at Ochako. It plops against the top of her head and unravels down against the newspaper in her hand.
Looking at the lion would only have him whistling innocently, clearly minding his own business. ]
i can't believe they're tping an abandoned store? these vandals...
...What.
The roll falls to the floor, and Ochako bends to pick it up while shooting a surreptitious glance at Caramia. Well, doesn't he look pleased with himself! Wasting supplies is a terrible thing to do, and she knows that her more responsible classmates would surely give him a very stern lecture about this, but--it's been a long, weird day, okay. She is too tired to lecture anyone.
And that's why she's just going to chuck the roll right back at his head.]
Rules are for CHUMPS!!!
He manages an "Oi!" between his laughs as this Extremely Deadly Weapon™ thumps against his head. The Murder Trail fluttered to the ground, leaving a nice pathway of Destruction-- how horrendous. But that wouldn't be enough to sway this lion. He is sturdy, after all! Catching the paper, he tosses it back at Ochako again, all attempts of subtly dying with it. He even makes sure to grab more ammo, again flinging these fictitious grenades to his new partner in crime. ]
i've typed toiler paper more times here than i have in my entire life
She pops back up a few seconds later with a triumphant laugh, lobbing the missiles back his way. This time, though, they don't hit things and fall to the ground; they hit things and ricochet right off them, turning his whole side of the store into a weird toilet paper pinball machine. They won't stop bouncing off of things unless he grabs them, and then he should instantly be able to notice one thing: they're completely weightless.]
It's for a good cause.
was a witchhad superpowers). He hardly even pays attention to the fact that the projectiles are literally bouncing off the walls. He only catches what comes flying at him instead... How strange. They didn't lose that much mass-- how is it...? Oh well, this was war, can he really think too much about it? (No, he can't).
So, here's this idiot, just chucking rolls back at this super-powered teenager relentlessly, stifling his own laughter for now. Someone probably should demean this fully grown adult for playing with toiletries with a lady, but... whatever, it's probably fine. ]
no subject
But alas, all good things must come to an end. Slowly, carefully, she peeks her head over the top of the counter, trying to see if he's finally running out of steam.]
Ready to give up?
This just in: Ochako responsible for first casualty. Destruction in her wake. More at 11.
Still, now she's asking if he's ready to give, and part of him wants to yell a blatant "HECK no" at her, because quitting is never an option. But, she seems to have brightened up significantly... and they do have actual things they need to do. Fine.
He exaggeratedly clutches chest. ]
You are relentless, signorina. Going for such lethal blows... [ He gives a phony cough, and dramatically falls to his knees. ] Dì al mio consigliere che è un idiota.
[ With his "final" breath, he wheezes, falling face first into the mess of toilet paper strands. The beast has been defeated. Congratulations, Ochako. ]
