Intro Log.

Ding, dong, bell,
Pussy's in the well.
Who put her in?
Little Johnny Thin.
Who pulled her out?
Little Tommy Stout.
What a naughty boy was that,
To try to drown poor pussy cat,
Who never did him any harm,
But killed all the mice in the farmer's barn.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

Further information can be found here at the OOC post, and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

Can't believe his own son thinks he's stupid smh.

[ There's a smile accompanying Caramia as he waves off the boy's concerns. It is a little endearing to see someone so surprised by his small gestures of kindness. Even if this place might've been a little scary, he could still help, in the end. That was a comfort on it's own. ]

Don't worry about it, signore. I've had a little help back in the center of town to dry off, so this is the very least I can do to help. You can return it to me once you're not dripping anymore, okay?

[ As if to emphasize, he reached his hand up to brush aside Akechi's wet bangs. Not that it would help too much, but not having water constantly dripping down your nose had to be something. ]

I was honestly going to have a look around to see if I could find some blankets or something of the sort anyway. Would you like to join me?

only because he was taught adults don't care for free!

[personal profile] doublecrowss 2018-03-17 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
[ Akechi parts his lips to protest, but that's when Caramia brushes his bangs off his forehead, and the words die prematurely. The coat was one thing, but what was up with this casual physical contact? How come has this stranger, whom he has barely known for two minutes, shown him more disinterested care than most adults he's met throughout life? This can't be right.

But it doesn't feel wrong, either. ]

... Thank you. [ He finally concedes, though he hasn't quite given upon figuring out this mystery. Is this guy really being genuine, or is he just grooming Akechi for his potential? Or maybe it's just a culture clash? He did call Akechi "signore" right? ]

I suppose I could, at least so I can return this to you later. [ He fixes the coat over his shoulders to make a point-- and also to make himself comfier. He may be still suspicious but this is... not bad. ] I'm Akechi, by the way.
ifionlyhadthecourage: (oop)

He's never even SEEN Free! Akechi PLS

[personal profile] ifionlyhadthecourage 2018-03-17 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ He nods when Akechi finally concedes for his gratitude. Normally, he'd just give another "don't worry about it", but he figures that this time there was a bit of work put in for that 'thank you'. Not that anyone could really blame him? What with all this happening, it wasn't a surprise to be suspicious or worried about the other people around. ]

Caramia. I would've liked for us to meet under better circumstance, but it's nice to meet you all the same.

[ And with that, Caramia's already looking around at the buildings. ]

Have you been inside any of these yet? Can't say I'm too thrilled at the thought. They seem like they'd fall apart any second now, but... [ He only finishes that thought with a vague gesture of his hand. As bright as he may have been, he really didn't like the thought of not knowing what the hell was going on. ]

WOW

[personal profile] doublecrowss 2018-03-18 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ Akechi offers a bow of his head at the introduction, and mentally takes note of the name. It did sound foreign to his ears, so maybe his culture clash hypothesis wasn't too far from the truth, after all. ]

I have, actually. [ The change of topic is welcome, both because that means treading territory he's more comfortable with, and because it gives him a chance to show off, just a little. ] Not these ones in particular, but I have ventured into what seems to have been a residential area at some point. It's true they look as though they might crumble at any moment, but... I suppose I could not call myself much of a detective if I weren't drawn to a little danger, haha.

[ And it should be fairly obvious, but he is only a teenager, still. Are you impressed yet? ]
ifionlyhadthecourage: (FitnessGram Pacer Test)

I'm so sorry Akechi

[personal profile] ifionlyhadthecourage 2018-03-18 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
You're a detective???

[ That seems to be all he's pulling from that bit of information. Nevermind the fact that Akechi went answering a question. This was the part Caramia was sticking with. Congrats, buddy, you've definitely impressed your dad.

Also, he's being touchy again (sorry, Akechi), reaching forward to take both of Akechi's hands in his own to look at him with big, sparkly excited eyes. ]

That's amazing, signore. My consigliere would (probably) like to meet you!

he loves the attention though!

[personal profile] doublecrowss 2018-03-18 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[ On the one hand, impressing adults with his constant achievements is all Akechi has been conditioned to doing, because it's the only way anyone will give him the time of their day, if not the attention and care he lacked his whole life.

... on the other hand, he certainly wasn't built to handle excessive attention like that, not from someone he had just barely met, and with a wholly casual approach about physical contact. It's not a bad feeling, by any means, but it is certainly... disorienting. Something he doesn't have a practiced reaction for. ]

A-ah, I'm just a rookie detective, actually, so I'm not sure it would make for a thrilling introduction. [ He finally replies after another second or two of completely blanking out. ] However, if your consigliere happens to be here as well, I would be happy to meet them.
ifionlyhadthecourage: (for narnia)

There's just so much.

[personal profile] ifionlyhadthecourage 2018-03-19 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
[ Clearly he's been so deprived because all the attention he needed was just condensed into this one meeting. Never wanted to say "you're welcome" and "I'm sorry" more than right now. But 'sorry's gotten out of the way enough, so. You're welcome, Akechi.

Caramia shakes his head at the word "rookie". He is still young so it isn't as if Caramia was expecting him to be The Best of the Best or anything. ]

Please, that's still fascinating in it's own right, detective. No need to make it sound like it's nothing big. You should always be proud of your accomplishments.
doublecrowss: (pic#11642704)

he'll get used to it... maybe...

[personal profile] doublecrowss 2018-03-20 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Well, that is exactly the thing: he is known as a prodigy back home, like the second coming of the detective prince. And while he absolutely loves getting praise for it, it also goes against his pleasant and charismatic persona to openly gloat about it.

(There's also the fact he can't tell how Caramia would react. Could he even get more effusive?) ]

Oh, please, just Akechi is fine. [ No "detective" needed, he means. ] And it's not that I'm not proud of my accomplishments-- not many people my age get the chance to pay for their own education with a job such as mine. The best most teenagers can aspire to is to work several part-time jobs just to earn some extra spending money.

[ You know, some loser teenagers who can't be this awesome. Is that proud enough to you, Caramia? ]
ifionlyhadthecourage: (ssssssmmm)

Good luck, fam

[personal profile] ifionlyhadthecourage 2018-03-21 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
[ (Don't test it, Akechi.)

Despite his words being fine in their own regards, Caramia's smile falls anyway. Just a tad, at first, then more to something that seems decidedly somber than the bright, proud grins from before. While Caramia understands that they all had lives to get back to, it is still a bit of a slap in the face to be really aware of that fact. ]

Right, you're... [ Just a teenager. He shouldn't be having to deal with... any of this. ] ...We're just going to have to get you home faster, then! I'm sure something will show up in no time. [ He hopes, at least. He even gives Akechi's hands what Caramia hopes is a reassuring squeeze, seeing as this idiot was still holding them and totally for a logical reason besides Rubie forgetting that happened in the first place because she has the memory of a dead gnat because Rubie would never do that before dropping his hands down to his sides again. ]
