Intro Log.

Ding, dong, bell,
Pussy's in the well.
Who put her in?
Little Johnny Thin.
Who pulled her out?
Little Tommy Stout.
What a naughty boy was that,
To try to drown poor pussy cat,
Who never did him any harm,
But killed all the mice in the farmer's barn.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

Further information can be found here at the OOC post, and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

[ Would Akechi still like pancakes if he knew they're the reason his plan failed... ]

No. It looks like the forum was made very recently, and specifically for us - there's only a few posts on it, all made by people looking for information on our current situation.

[ The reason why his plan failed was his own lack of foresight, chill, and his stupid need for attention. No need to take it out on pancakes!! ]

How strange. [ He frowns, sparing the laptop an idle glance as though that could help him focus, think more clearly. ] Until now, I had been treating this as mass hostage situation, but in that case, our abductors should ostensibly limit our communication. Building a forum specifically for captives, however, sounds... counterproductive at best.

Agreed. I can't think of a good reason for it; even if it's just one forum and not the rest of the internet, it allows for quick communication and is an easy way to share information with the whole group.

[ No matter how he looks at it, it's just strange - then again, this whole situation has been nothing but strange so far. ]

It's like they - assuming a "they" exists - want us to be able to communicate easily.

Whether plural or singular, a "they" definitely exists.

[ Unless they all knew each other previously and willingly decided to confine themselves to this colorless world while suffering from collective amnesia. Imagine this level of despair. ]

The fact that we can communicate easily makes me think this is either because they simply wish to keep track of our conversations or... because this is an experiment of some sort. Perhaps even both.

[ Ryo nods in agreement and closes his laptop shut before setting it aside. He'll check the forum again later when there's more activity. ]

I agree; this being a social experiment is the most likely scenario - it's too elaborate for a hostage situation. If taking us hostage was their goal it would have been easier to tie us up and stash us in a basement somewhere, instead of setting this up and leaving us to our own devices.

That is the most likely conclusion I could come to, indeed. [ A pause, followed by a cringe. ] But to think I would be used in a social experiment... That is despicable.

[ Oh, sweet summer child. If only you knew you were already a part of a different experiment... ]

Well. I suppose it is no use to lose our minds over this. We must steel ourselves and keep our rational thought, if we are to get to the bottom of this.

[ Ryo nods his head in agreement. In a situation like this, it's best to rely on logic and rational thought. Emotions are only going to hinder you. ]

By the way, I was assigned a hexadecimal number as my username when I logged into my laptop. It corresponds to a shade of red, I believe. It's rather odd, isn't it? [ Hexadecimal colors in a colorless town. It suggests some interesting things, and can't possibly be a coincidence. ]
