ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light. It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb. The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. But most importantly of all... you're not alone. Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways. [And he'll do this jump without cheating!! Mostly. He's got the raw power necessary to make it across but none of the finesse, so he most definitely lands right on the edge and flails as he nearly tips backwards into the water, then gets pushed properly upright. Literally, a silvery hand appears behind him to push him up. Tada.]

Also, that totally counts as cheating. Ouni's expression doesn't change much, but there's a hint of curiosity (or suspicion, depending on how you interpret it) in his face.]

[He gives Okuyasu an odd look, before he answers.]

Oh, The Hand.

That's weird, you're not supposed to see it.

Seeing as how I obviously did, you might want to rethink that.

[Explaining... his weakness. How about instead of that, he doesn't explain the singular weird hand, but instead summons the whole damn thing to hover right behind him and stare down with it's weird tin face.

This answers everything. He can't do this in words, usually people who can see The Hand already know what it is they're looking at!! Ah.] This is The Hand. We fight people.

[WELL OKAY HE WASN'T EXPECTING THAT.

As soon as the... thing appears, Ouni's own powers flare up, markings forming over his body again—this time a darker shade than before, standing out clearly against his skin—as symbols emerge around him. He takes a step back, as if expecting a fight.

Once it becomes clear that Okuyasu probably isn't going to suddenly shank him or something, he relaxes, but he still looks a tad wary.]

[Whoa, okay, chill out!! Okuyasu takes half a step back - still close to the edge, come on, chill - and The Hand just floats there, moving when he does, definitely not attacking anybody.]

Speak for yourself, the hell are you doing? You're covered in weird stuff!

[He's chill!! Mostly. Sort of.]

It's called an aura, and it's no less weird than what you just did. If anything, I'd say you're more likely to catch people off-guard.
