Intro Log.

Pussy's in the well. Who put her in? Little Johnny Thin. Who pulled her out? Little Tommy Stout. What a naughty boy was that, To try to drown poor pussy cat, Who never did him any harm, But killed all the mice in the farmer's barn.
Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

And it's not like he expected it to be easy on them. But...maybe he'd underestimated pretty sorely how hard it would be on them too. Of course, they were all his precious teammates, and he didn't doubt they felt that way about him too, but they finally had the chance to live. They could finally move on, and live the lives they wanted to, right...? So surely that was so much more important than the cost, when they'd all agreed that it was so very likely to take all of their lives to face Nyx. They'd always known--the fact that it had only taken Minato's was a blessing.
But.
Mitsuru's eyes are wide, and her posture so uncertain, and Minato hesitates as well, briefly, slowing to a stop a few short steps away from her.]
... Yes. It's me. [Really, at this point, what else can he say...? Maybe he should have thought this through better, but suddenly he has no idea how to fix the tension in the air.]
no subject
Uncertainty doesn't befit her station, but uncertain she is as she takes a step forward, the click of her heel sounding too loud all of a sudden. ]
How is this possible...?
[ Artemisia wouldn't lie. But a trick of the mind--perhaps this place isn't what she thought it was. ]

His heart is beating, he can feel the way his breath fills his lungs. Sensations he'd taken for granted once, and now sensations that he can't help but savor. Right now, somehow, some way? He's alive.
(Is the Seal intact? He doesn't know. He'd like to believe that what he'd done couldn't be undone so easily, but then isn't the fact that he's here something...wrong and concerning? People like him don't get consequenceless second chances.)
But that's a concern for later. Right now, his main concern is Mitsuru, and quietly, he bows his head.]
I... don't know. [It's admittedly softly, a hint of uncertainty that he hasn't really had since they came to their conclusion together as a team that December.] I'm sorry, senpai. I don't know...how I'm here.
[Because he, too, remembers that death on the rooftop.]

Alone.
Perhaps there's still guilt about that. No, there definitely still is--even after learning of why he did what he did, what exactly he did end up accomplishing. In the end, Mitsuru feels a sense of responsibility to every member of SEES. They've already all given so much to a cause that they shouldn't have had to. And he made a decision one can never turn back from.
She takes another step forward, one careful after the other, until she's only a foot or so away. It's closer than she might normally be, given that she normally holds personal space in high regard, but this is...special. ]
...
[ Wordlessly she holds out her hand. Will he take it? ]
no subject
Mitsuru's hand is warm. Warm and solid and far too real to be any sort of illusion or hallucination, and for a moment, despite himself, all Minato can really do is breathe out a shaky breath.
Whatever this is...wherever they are, however this happened...
Mitsuru is standing right here in front of him, and just as she's always been that stable force for all of them in the midst of their chaotic year as SEES, she's a grounding presence here and now. Maybe it's a bit simplistic, but... the senpai he's always depended on so much is right here, and he's so, so happy to have been given the chance to see her again, no matter how it happened.]

Real.
He's real. His hand solid and warm. Solid. Not an apparition, not a figment of her imagination or wishful thinking. Warm to the touch, warm with life. Had he been cold, well...it would have been difficult to handle, despite her affinity to the cold. The implications would be too macabre.
It's a long moment, her eyes looking at their joined hands until they finally rest on his face. She looks pained, to some extent, but as always tries to hold it back. Finally, she breathes out his name, ]
Arisato...
[ Her shoulders slump. ]
My mind says it isn't true, but...
[ Evidence says otherwise.
Somewhat hesitantly, she will release his hand as it's proper, only to take hold of her own arm. ]
Whatever has brought us here--I...
[ She's struggling for words. How unseemly. ]
...I--we know what you've done, Arisato. We understand it, now.
no subject
There isn't, though. Because he was the one to put that expression on her face, wasn't he?
He doesn't regret that choice, or that sacrifice. But seeing Mitsuru struggling with her words here and now, seeing the way that her expression shifts as she tries to keep herself calm... it's difficult.
The last thing he would ever want to do is hurt her--to hurt any of SEES. But she says she knows what choice he made, what he did, that she understands despite the fact that he wasn't able to stay awake quite long enough, despite his best efforts--
Wait. What?
His brow furrows despite himself, arm dropped to his side instead of in his pocket for once as he tries to process what she's saying. And finally, almost too hesitantly and tentatively:]
... "Now"...? [He knows he wasn't able to stay awake long enough. If he was to have any regrets at all, that would be his sole, single one. They all deserved an explanation, they had all made a promise, but... but he'd hoped they would understand even so. Mitsuru says they understand it but--
(What...does that additional tacked on word mean? It could be something totally innocent, of course, but Mitsuru's always been so deliberate in her word choice, hasn't she...?)
It's a sinking feeling.]
What do you mean... "now"?
no subject
Grief makes it difficult to think logically, but the Abyss of Time made them confront that, along with their own pasts. Frustrating as its appearance had been, she's grateful for it. Without it, who knows if they would really find out the true nature of the sacrifice he made?
By his reaction, she suspects that he was entirely unaware of their presence. Well...that's probably for the best. She can't imagine what it would be like to fully experiencing the existence he's chosen. ]
It's a bit of an involved story, but we saw it. The Seal.
no subject
Minato's expression is as subtle as ever, but even so it goes through a few different emotions, his brow furrowing a little as he thinks through the implications there.
They... saw it?
How did they see it? What does that mean, that it's "an involved story"? What happened...?
... Now's probably not the time to ask. Not when they're in a completely foreign place, lost and confused, and just seeing each other for the first time in a very, very long time. If this chance is fleeting? Minato doesn't want to waste it.]
... I see. [So he'll accept that, expression smoothing out, and then he smiles, lips curving upwards slightly. The Seal is a concern. The fact that Mitsuru is here, wherever here is, is a concern too, if it ends up being dangerous.
But still, he's...happy.]
I guess we can talk about all of that later. [Presuming he doesn't go anywhere, but right now? His heart is beating so strongly.]
It's...really good to see you again, Mitsuru-senpai.
no subject
Yes, she's happy. ]
...Yes. It's good to see you too, Arisato.
[ More than she can probably convey. ]
From a strategical standpoint, it would make the most sense to survey the area separately, however...I'm feeling indulgent, despite the circumstances. Would you assist me?
