QUEST 23 (flowercrowns)
[ This was the quest that Elizabeth had immediately gravitated to out of all of them. The thought of a confession was embarrassing, she couldn't fight, and she couldn't swim. But flower crowns? That she could do with no problem.
Well... Mostly.
It's something that she's never done before, so there's definitely some amount of practice involved. However, she's not one to be put off by having to learn something, so you're likely to find her sitting in Bluo on a bench. There's a large basket of flowers at her side, and she's carefully weaving the crowns together. Some of the flowers have color, others are grey, and it makes an odd mish-mash of crowns. It seems to be what she's going for. There's also definitely more than three sitting by her side, so it seems like she's going a little overboard. Pretty much anyone she knows as more than a casual acquaintance is likely to receive one.
However, as someone wanders by, she looks up from her work to give a friendly wave. If you linger more than just passing by, she'll nod to the space on the bench on the opposite side of the basket. ]
Would you like to join me? I have plenty of flowers for you to make some too.
Giving--
[ And boy, I am not kidding about the people who are getting flower crowns!! Once that basket is empty, it's re-purposed to hold all of her crowns as she heads around town to distribute them to the worthy. In her case, "worthy" is simply defined as being someone she likes. It's not a high criteria, but for a girl making her first friends here in Chroma, it's a very important one to her personally.
So. She'll be tracking down the following people to make sure they receive a crown from her: Bruce, Caramia, Damian, Dave, Keigo, Lupin, Maya, Minato, and Percy. You're likely to see her approaching with a sunny smile, since as soon as she finds who she's looking for, she's pretty excited about the prospect of giving them a gift!
(Also since I'm doing m...ulti...ple... threads with a lot of y'all, no obligation to tag this one! But they definitely got their crown which is what's important.) ]

It's cooler out than it was, but he's still worked up a bit of a sweat; he's paused to wipe his brow for a second when he spots her approaching, and he gives her a friendly wave. ]
Hey there, little princess! You look pretty pleased with yourself.
no subject
But no, she thinks. If (and that's a very big if, in her opinion) she were to tell him about her crush, it would be later. For now, a gesture of her friendship was much more important. ]
Well, I've been working hard. [ She looks to the rose bush, then nods to it. ] ...Maybe not as hard as you are, though.
[ Elizabeth reaches into her basket as she closes that last distance between them, but once she gets there, she sets the basket down. She wants to present her gift with both hands, after all. Considering the quest being quite public, there's no need to have much preamble, so she holds up a delicate, but intricately woven flower crown. Though considering how he addressed her and the wording of the quest itself, she does lean into it playfully as she gives a little curtsy and her tone is clearly showy and joking. ]
This "princess" deems you worthy, Lupin.
no subject
(It is cute that she made one for him, really, and the smile that appears on his face is the real thing.) ]
A lowly rogue like me, worthy? I'd never dare to dream it. I'm honored, Your Highness. [ there's a pause; then, theatrically, he bows his head towards her so that she can put the crown on him. ] Am I allowed to ask what I'm worthy of?
no subject
There are few that receive it— [ This is blatantly untrue, since the basket definitely has quite a few crowns in it. ] —But 'tis an honor I bestow on any who may deserve it, lowly or not.
[ Though on "lowly", her tone does shift slightly to make it clear that's not at all what she thinks. Elizabeth sets the crown on his head with the sort of ceremony that she's imagined in things like the Arthurian stories, but as she lowers her hands, she's back to her normal temperament to sincerely answer his question. ]
You were my first friend, Lupin. I think that makes you very worthy.

You're smiling, so I already know what you're planning.

So, naturally, she has to tease him a little. Good-naturedly, of course, since Elizabeth doesn't suck like the rest of my muselist. But. ]
And you look very sour about it. Are you allergic to flowers?
[ She says flowers, but there's something about her tone that implies more "are you allergic to people being nice to you" ]
no subject
[Hopefully, Elizabeth never speaks to Zelda about Damian at all because he told Zelda he prefered Chroma just a tad bit more than Gotham--in terms of being chill.]
no subject
Uh-huh. Then it's a good thing that I know better by now, isn't it?
[ What she means probably isn't clear, but it doesn't take her long to explain. Once she finds the crown she made for him, she sets the basket down and offers it to him with a wry smile. ]
Your manners may not be much better than Mr. Dewitt's, but you're much nicer. [ Just in a weird way... A "destroying property" way. ] So I made this for you. You don't have to keep it, but you got me to try opening my Tears again. So... thank you for that.

slides in past everyone wearing only socks and an oversized white shirt
[ Hi, Elizabeth! Maya seems to have the same idea, except instead of a basket, she's got about ten flower crowns just hanging from one arm like a ton of oversized bracelets. ]
no subject
Oh, the same one you are, it looks like! Those are all really pretty, Maya.
[ There's no expectation in her tone that one of them might be for her, so her compliment is for craftsmanship alone. It was something Elizabeth had needed to practice a bit before she was satisfied, but the results that made it to this basket were definitely pleasing. It was fun! ]
I have one for you. Let's see-- [ She sets the basket more on her hip as she starts to dig through carefully, but once she finds it, she sets the basket down entirely. ]
Here we go. I hope you like it.
[ She's taken a sort of style with her crowns where the boys have simpler designs, but for the girls (aka maya...), she's gone full into the flowers. It's full and more elaborate, so she's definitely worked hard on making it something worth having. ]
no subject
I love it! Will you put it on me?
[ She'll get to returning the favor in a minute, but those moment has to be reserved for The Crown. ]
no subject
[ That smile is absolutely why Elizabeth went through the effort of making these. It was fun too, but it was really all about making something for her friends that was even a small expression of how grateful she was to them. With a small laugh, she nods, and takes a slightly theatrical tone and stance as she bestows the crown. ]
Of course! For Maya, one of my very worthy friends, it's best that you receive a full crown.
[ She sets it down gently, and as she steps back, she's back to her normal tone, though her own theatrics does make her laugh a little. ]
I thought the mismatch of color and no color might look strange, but it's actually pretty nice.

Oops.
Anyway--
When Elizabeth shows up, he seems very willing to set his own flowers aside, perking up.]
Elizabeth-san, hey. How have you been?
no subject
Oh, you don't have to stop working— [ She shifts her basket to her hip as she starts to dig through it for the crown she had designated for Minato ] I've been well. Um, hot, but hopefully the heat will die down soon...
no subject
Yeah... we'll have to make sure everyone remembers to drink a lot of water.
[And don't keel over because of the heat.]
It must be summer, right? With heat like this... even if we don't have a date, it seems obvious.
no subject
[ And there it is—Right at the bottom, of course, but whatever. She sets the basket down as she pulls out the flower crown she's made for Minato. It's subdued and simple, since she didn't want to make ones that were too overly elaborate for her male friends just in case that wasn't to their taste, but it's clearly something she put effort into all the same. ]
This is for you, Minato.

crumples under the pressure of following everyone else's cool subject lines
Hi! I made a flower crown for you!
[The best thing that can be said about this crown is that it's a circle. Oval, maybe. This is an achievement because it took him a while to make one that didn't fall apart.]
no subject
Oh, and I made one for you! Hold on—
[ She shifts the basket to her hip as she digs through it, but quickly decides that she should set it down if she's going to exchange crowns. She definitely has quite a few crowns in the basket, but she quickly finds the one she's looking for and stands up straight. The crown she's made it delicate and subdued, but elegant. She's clearly put work into it, and as is the case for all the crowns she's made for boys, it's not ostentatious with the use of flowers. ]
This one is for you. Thank you for showing me your school, Keigo.
no subject
You did something for me first. Thank you for helping out a poor abused invisible guy.
[He takes the crown she's holding out to him and gives it a closer look.]
Yours is so good.
[Especially when it's compared to his. It's not just in the basic, symmetrical and not coming apart, construction. The way the flowers are arranged makes him think she picked them carefully and didn't just take a handful of random flowers and greenery and start weaving them together.
Elizabeth did say she spent a lot of time practicing art.
It's too late to take it back. And it's not his fault he's not a natural flower crown maker! He lifts his own crown from where he'd let it hang at his side and holds it out more purposefully to her.]
I promise I worked really hard on mine!
no subject
Though as they turn back to flowercrowns, she smiles and nods at the compliment, but her face really lights up when he holds out one for her. It may not have the artistry that Elizabeth put into hers, but you wouldn't be able to tell based on her reaction. She takes it delicately, like it's a crown made of jewels. ]
I can tell. Thank you, Keigo.
[ She's very sincere and sweet, and immediately places it on her head after she's taken a closer look at it. ]
I'll take care of it.
(no subject)
Dies on the spot tbh
Probably. ]
Ciao, signorina! [ There's a quick wave from his spot on the porch, and he seemed oh so busy tuning his guitar. (He's not busy at all, please distract him.) ] You're looking just as radiant as ever.
no subject
Oh, a guitar! Do you play? [ She seems to realize that might be a silly question, since she laughs and shakes her head. ] Or, no, what sorts of things do you play...?
bursts through the doorway
Ace, please.
[ And then Ace just throws himself in the dirt at Bruce's lap. He really wants to play!! Bruce just sighs and runs his not-dog spit covered hand through his hair, looking up to see Elizabeth a moment later. ]
Ah, Elizabeth. Hello.
[ A friendly bark from Ace!! ... Who is still rolling around in the dirt, yep. ]
no subject
(But it would have been cute.)
She laughs a little at the mutual greeting, and she gives a friendly wave to Ace first. ]
It looks like you're you're both enjoying yourself today.
[ And she won't interrupt this good boy's good time! Bruce, on the other hand: ]
I won't interrupt your work for too long, but I have something for you, Mr. Wayne.
