it's only a theory if you're a quitter
WHO: Yusuke and Keith
WHERE: Bluo district
WHEN: April 2nd
WHAT: dudes working together on a craft project
WARNINGS: c for conspiracy theories
[Morning brings Yusuke out of the house--he doesn't know what to do with roommates or in being in a house, not really, and despite his best efforts he's, you know. Unpracticed. At social interaction. So on and so forth. It's a whole Thing, he's trying not to think about it.
There's other things on his plate today. Such as... what he usually does. Thankfully the furniture has stopped bringing up things it had no business bringing up, though Yusuke did clue in to the fact it stopped when he tidied up his space. That was all right, he guesses, though he still would've preferred not to hear about Madarame in this place when he's set that more-or-less-kind-of behind him.
He's sitting on a bench not far from his house, sketchbook on his knees, staring at nothing. There's an absence of things to do here besides all of that cleaning, and it leaves him lost at times. He ought to be doing other things, he thinks as he taps his fingers on the sketchbook's cover, just basically spacing out and staring at the sky. But what? Hm. What can he do?
He's deep in thought. Really.]

Anyway, he's on his way around when he sees a familiar face and. Two things come to mind.
One, it's Yusuke, and he wants to say hello. And for another thing, this might be the guy he's been looking for -- the guy who might have a pen. Or a pencil. Or an anything. Keith has no writing utensils at all. And he has a mighty need for them.]
Yusuke. Hey. [A greeting, as he trots over, one hand raised in a little wave.]
no subject
But he looks to Keith's face, lifting his hand to wave back to him.]
Keith. Hello. Have you been well?
[oh boy small talk he got this]
no subject
[He's terrible at small talk too, Yusuke. He feels you.] What about you?
[He's trying though. No problem. But also, like also and very importantly.] ...do you have a pen? Or a pencil? Or anything to write with?
[No segue he just hopped subjects. Sorry.]
no subject
[He pauses at the abrupt segue but... he can get into it, please free him from small talk. Thank goodness.]
I've quite a few pens and pencils. Did you need one at the moment?
[Do you need to write a note on your hand Keith?? Yusuke shifts, rummaging in his pocket.]
no subject
[Straight to the point. It's easier. Though truthfully, Keith likes Yusuke, so he does care about how he's doing and the like. But still, the matter at hand.]
Yeah. I mean, like, not immediately. But I'm trying to sort my thoughts out, and sometimes it helps to write things down... have pictures, sort of map it out, you know?
[He's got no camera or anything, so it's gonna be jotted notes and maps and bad sketches. But he'll make do.]
no subject
[STILL Yusuke offers him a pen right away and he cocks his head in an interested gesture when Keith mentions pictures.]
Is this anything like what you told me you made before? Back where you're from?
no subject
Thanks. this is great.
[Super great. He takes the pen and offers Yusuke a grin. Perfect. Now he can start sorting things out.]
Actually yeah, that's the plan exactly. Sometimes it helps to see everything sort of... laid out, you know?
[...and then.] ...want to help? Maybe?
no subject
You would like my assistance?
[He's just sitting here woolgathering... and Keith's project sounds far more interesting.] ...Yes. I would be interested in being a part of your project.
no subject
[OKay he also has string and some pins/little tacks so he has that much at least here.
But he perks up when Yusuke agrees.] Then. Yeah, great. Good. You busy now?
no subject
Not in the least... I wish I were busier, but this may be just the thing I was meant to help with today. It is almost fate.
[READY TO GO, YES HE IS.]
I may be able to lend assistance all around. Let us first see what we have to work with, and go from there.
no subject
Fate?
[Somewhere between amused and oddly pleased, Keith nods. Okay. Fate. Fate to help him out with his art project/sorting out his information and questions on this disaster of a place. No problem. Yusuke... he doesn't entirely get this guy yet. But he likes him.
Keith nods, inclining his head in the direction of red town or whatever the hell the sign says.] Great. Then, c'mon. My place is this way. I'll show you where I am so fr.
no subject
What have you found or made thus far? Even with lack of a writing utensil?
[And also--] I understand it was you and Dave who were mixed up with those shadows in the forest...?
no subject
So far? I've just sort of plotted it out spacially. Uh... it's rough.
[He's got a square paper for the town, a circle for the well. He's tacked some leaves from the woods onto his wall for the forest.
A pen is going to help so much he can't even stand it.]
Yeah, that was Dave and me. Those things... those things were bad. Nothing I did even touched them. How do you fight against something like that?
no subject
...I am headed into the forest soon enough with a friend from home and-- [how does one say it] --someone else I... know. [That's awkward phrasing, even for Yusuke.]
We wanted to see them for ourselves. Perhaps we'll be able to discover something, though we're ready to run away when we need to.
no subject
He notices how the other boy phrases that though. Interesting.]
If you've got something to hit them with that isn't a straight physical attack, maybe it'll do something. Swords alone did nothing.
[That said.] Make sure you don't let them surround you. And if you can't affect them, get out of there. There was nothing Dave or I could do. We're only alive because they let us live. They could have killed us easily. Don't get killed.
[Sorry, Yusuke. He's blunt because he cares.]
no subject
I understand.
[He takes the bluntness with ease, however, features calm. He even nods appreciatively, glad for the advice.] I promise we will proceed with the utmost caution. I've no desire to get hurt or killed here.
no subject
[Things, man. He gets it. ...though Keith is like 100% the cause of all his things. So there's that. But Keith nods, apparently satisfied with that answer. He's given his warning, and he'll have to trust Yusuke and his friend and not-a-friend to handle themselves.]
Good. Really try not to. I'm not really good at making friends, so I'd rather not lose one and have to start all over.
[...friends? c: ]
no subject
It would be rather time-consuming to go through all of the re-introductions again.
[He smiles. Friends!]
no subject
[How rare to meet someone as terrible at this whole friend and people thing as he is. How is it they've managed to talk to each other at all??? A mystery. But one Keith appreciates.
He offers a smile in return.]
Exactly. Much better if there isn't a need to.
[Friends!]
no subject
I do appreciate your concern very much. I must extend the same to you. You were already mixed up in a dangerous situation once, next time you'll avoid it... right?
[OKAY? Yusuke's concerned.]
no subject
Honestly... probably not.
[AT LEAST HE'S HONEST.]
I mean, based on history... yeah, no. Definitely won't. [He offers a smile that tries and fails to be sheepish.] But I'll try anyway.
no subject
[He can't help but comment... but he's not troubled, his lips twitching up in thin amusement.]
Try is all I may ask for, then.
no subject
Maybe I've just gotten to know myself by now.
[And the wreck that he tends to be. He nods though.]
Trying I can do.
{And it's about here that Keith gestures to the right.] Here, this is my place
no subject
Ah. Pardon my intrusion, then.
[Lead the way Keith he is right behind.]
no subject
[What a polite boy this Yusuke. Keith glances over his shoulder briefly before heading for the stairs.] My room is up this way. That's where I've started it.
[Because he doesn't need the kid he lives with worrying about what the hell Keith is working on. And once they get up to his room it'll be apparent. One wall has been cleared and there are a few paper shapes and items tacked to it, a few strings strung between. It's barely begun.
But it's on its way.]
