QUEST 18 - DAVE, SHOUTO, IZUKU

[Stealth wasn't really a natural ability that John had, but it sounded easy enough. How hard could it be to just sneak in, maybe turn into the wind and take whatever this Moondrop Heart thing was?

…on the other hand, it said he needed a team. Dave was an obvious choice, and he worked well with both Izuku and Shouto that it just made sense for the four of them together.

It's how they find themselves all meeting at the edge of the woods, John floating a few inches off the ground and lazily waiting for everyone to arrive. Upon seeing the first of his friends though he waves.]

So hey, have any of us actually stolen stuff before?

[inheritance]

...not exactly. [Stealing isn't really part of the hero training that they get from U.A., but stealth on the other hand....]

We'll need to map out the layout of the castle first, or at least a part of it, so we know where to start looking for the Moondrop Heart.

Yes. [ he doesn't specify what he's stolen though... ]

You have paper and a pen, dude? [ to izuku, since he assumes that izuku will be doing the mapping.

look at everyone else involved ] And get your ass back on the ground, it's weird to float while other people are walking.

[Shouto doesn't really mind floating or not floating.]

He can float if he wants to. [He can leave his friends behind.]

[He can float but Dave tells him not to and he's landing on the ground again with a little huff. Spoilsport. Still, he laughs in spite of himself.]

Fry-stealing only counts if you weren't caught. I agree with Izuku too though, we should map it out. Think it's something we can also keep up along the way? [While they're inside, he means.]

[In reply to Dave, Izuku just grins and takes out a notebook and pen from his bag. He came prepared!] I wouldn't mind keeping track of the layout!

We might have more of an idea what to do once we get a good look at the castle, too.

I feel like I should maybe take the lead here as "probably most stealthy".

[ he's trailing to the front just because of that. ]

Though not in an incharge way so much as "hey trust me if I say that might make noise" way.

[He doesn't even mind letting someone else be the leader for once.]

Shouto, you'll be good for taking out any surprise enemies. Dave can scope ahead while Izuku draws us a path and I can...hit stuff. And move stuff out of the way. It's actually a pretty okay balance. And we can talk strategy while we travel.

[inheritance]

Sounds like a plan to me. I can move fast, but Dave's definitely better suited for stealth.

[The way his quirk manifests in green light on his skin doesn't exactly make it easy for him to hide when he's using it.

With the way the forest is built, the castle isn't that far off, and Izuku points out something that's sticking up above the trees just a moment later.] Think that's it?

Looks like. Do we go in through a lower level or try to start higher up?

There should definitely be an entrance on the lower level, right? Besides, the only one of us that can fly is John.

Actually Dave can fly too! [Just. Pointing that out.] But for stealth purposes a lower entrance would be better. Something around the back if we can manage it.

[He starts ahead.] Come on. Let's go check this way.

QUEST 16 - OCHAKO

[So like. He's never met a unicorn before. So this whole mission is more out of curiosity and also to shake off the things from a few days ago. Ochako was a good pick to come along...she's nice and friendly and someone John hasn't seen nearly enough of recently.

It's why he's a little excited to actually try to complete this one. It doesn't take long to seek out Ochako after arranging a day to go unicorn-searching and he's floating a little above the ground as usual.]

Where do you think we should look for them?

[thriftea]

We can try the fields first, and if they're not there then we can look in the forest? They like to run around.

[Honestly, Ochako has seen these cute creatures all over the darn place. Will she and her quest partner have to spend some time tracking them down? Well, it's possible, but she grins up at him all the same. Like she's going to complain about spending more time with someone as neat as John.]

But if we can't find them right away, we can try to lure them out with this.

[And she tosses him... an apple. Ya girl is prepared for this quest!!]

[At least he has better reflexes now and he catches the apple with ease from his position in the air.]

Nice. I probably have one or two in my 'dex, too, in case just one isn't enough of a bribe. If unicorns are just horses with horns fields sound like our best shot. Lead the way? [But he's already heading in the direction he thinks is correct.] You seem to be the expert here anyway.

[It's definitely the right direction to head toward, and she falls in step beside him without complaint. She's beaming, actually? Please, John, feel free to continue referring to her as the unicorn expert. That is the best title.]

I have done this quest a few times. The unicorns are just way too cute!

[That's honestly the main reason she keeps coming out to find them, but after a second she continues a touch wistfully.]

And I never thought I'd see a real unicorn, so I guess I want to see them as many times as I possibly can? Just in case they disappear soon, or...

[Or she does, but she'll just shrug instead of finishing that thought.]

[It's an honor to be an expert in these things, isn't it? Floating along he laughs to himself.]

Out of everything we've seen in our universe unicorns weren't really a thing. But my friend Rose had a pony. Do you really think they'll go away again?

[...granted, what the hell happened to those harpies from a while ago?]

[A pony! Rose, she thinks, must be one lucky girl.]

I hope they won't. They're the first nice animals I've met here, unless you count the chickens? Or Caramia's weird deer.

[All of which are the complete opposite of those cursed geese, really. Ugh. She very briefly pulls a face at that unpleasant memory. But hey, happy memories! They still have a bit until they hit the fields, so—]

You know, I haven't heard that much about your world! What was the neatest thing you saw? [A beat, and then:] I guess it doesn't have to be an animal...

[But does she hope it's a super cute animal? Kind of, yeah.]

[Look, the geese are cursed but also John and Dave kept like five of them and they made a coop for them on the roof of the house next door. John and Dave are idiots.] I haven't seen much of the deer but we could definitely use nice things around here. It's almost starting to feel like a real world now.

[You know. Instead of a huge empty space. He takes a moment to think because...well. His universe is full of a lot of problems that he still has to fix, but...] So okay. All of us have our own planets that we get to explore once we're inside the Medium. And on our planets we have these like consort guys? My planet had a bunch of yellow salamanders but they were really big.

Oh, plus there was Dr. Meowgon Spengler! A cat with four eyes, but still really cute.

[Idiots? Noooo. Special? ...Yeah. Ochako listens attentively to his story, quite impressed by the planet information. Owning a planet is, like... mega rich!! She isn't sure how she feels about giant salamanders, to be perfectly honest, but a four-eyed cat—]

With a name like that, he has to be cute.

[Or is the cat a she? Hmm. She thinks about this for all of a second, imagining two equally adorable cats, before deciding that it doesn't really matter in the long run.]

But I can't believe you have an entire planet, John! That's so cool! I wish I could see it... [Insert a wistful sigh here.] You'd give me the grand tour, right?

[She's so caught up in this neato dream of hers that she doesn't even notice the sound of... neighing? In the distance? Whoa...]

[He's about to say that yes, the cat's the cutest, but the mention of his planet has him grinning and distracted. Even though he hears the sound of the neighing he doesn't derail his train of thought. Instead, he waves her closer in the right direction while he talks.]

It's awesome, you would like it I bet! And I would totally give you a tour...now that I know where I'm going. It's called the Land of Wind and Shade. It's based on my aspect. [The windy thing.] I've been back a few times but not lately.

[He lifts a hand to shade his eyes.] Is that...? [He's just pointing. Ochako, are his eyes playing tricks on him or did they stumble upon a majestic creature?]

["Land of Wind and Shade" sounds like the ideal place to take a nap? Ochako is officially Sold! Still, she's careful not to say anything once she realizes that he's pointing to... a beautiful, majestic-looking unicorn. Oh, boy! It's still a good distance away, just standing in the sun as it flicks its tail to and fro, but it definitely knows that it has company; it is, in fact, looking riiiiight at them. Hi.]

It's beautiful, isn't it? [She sighs in admiration, coming to a stop.] It's like it just walked out of one of the books in the library...

[This is a fairy tale come to life! The unicorn watches them for a few more seconds, almost like it's judging them, before it slowly begins walking their way.]

John! Hold out the apple!

[Feed that hungry horse.]

[He's a little stunned because it's a real unicorn. Even as the creature begins to walk toward them, John stares and doesn't immediately offer the apple until Ochako says something.]

Oh, right! [He puts the apple on his palm and waits for the unicorn to approach.] We probably should wait for it to come to us so we do not startle it, right?

[thriftea]

[Ochako merely nods, not even bothering to look over at him, because she's somehow afraid that talking will spook their new buddy. That's silly, of course; the unicorn continues strolling their way, completely unfazed by the sight of two strangers standing in its clearing. Maybe it's the apple? It does hone right in on the fruit as it stops in front of them, and after a few seconds' worth of consideration it even bends its head down to sniff it.

...Hmm. While the unicorn is preoccupied with the apple, Ochako reaches out to slowly, gently pet its neck.]

You're so soft, [she whispers, still afraid of scaring it. But as magical as this moment is, after a split-second of thought—] John, did you bring... scissors or anything?
