With every sheaf are bound! We are the blessing which annuls The curse upon the ground! And he who reaps the Golden Grain The Golden Love hath found. | |
Welcome to Awash's seventh event log/first intro log hybrid, everyone! If there are any questions, please ask them here, and don't forget to welcome all of the new players here! Thank you! |
Wildcard!
The sound of the door opening makes her jump a little, and she pokes her head out of the room. There's a boy in the house now, and she realizes this is the roommate she was told briefly about.]
Oh uh...hey! Looks like we're living together. I'm Kairi!
no subject
so, he takes to the streets of this weird, creepy town, headphones playing music way too loud as he pokes aimlessly around the buildings and tries to process everything. he doesn't notice that his feet are drawing him to the red district until he's pausing outside one of the run-down houses.
huh. he has a Feeling about this one. weird. he shrugs after a moment before trying the door. might as well, right-- oh, there's someone already in here? ]
Oh-- hey there. [ he tugs his headphones down around his neck. there's still music blasting out of them; Kairi can probably hear the tinny sound of the beat even from as far away as she is. ] Uh, I'm Michael. Sup?
no subject
[Kairi approaches him with a smile. As she gets closer, she can hear the music from his headphones.]
Woah...what're you listening to?
no subject
Man, I'm that obvious? Yeah, I got done doing my best impression of "Truth Coming Out Of Her Well To Shame Mankind" a few hours ago, so... [ and here he pulls his hands back out of his pockets just to do some really dorky finger guns ] --snap?
[ and then she asks about his music, and he visibly brightens, that smile reaching his eyes. ]
Oh, it's the Front Bottoms, have you heard of them? Actually, they're totally not my usual thing, but they've got this super cool kind of rawness to their lyrics, you know?
[ okay so admittedly, that is also exactly why they're kinda his go-to for when his mood is tanking, but that doesn't mean he doesn't dig their tunes!! ]
no subject
[Kairi can see that change in mood when she mentions his music. Admittedly she doesn't listen to a lot of music back home. Not since Sora and Riku left. But she does smile and try to stay interested in the topic.]
Uh... I haven't sorry. Do you like them?
no subject
Yeah! Like, they're not one of my favourite artists ever, it's not like I keep their entire discography on here, but the energy there is on point, and some of their early stuff's got some hella nifty horns in the instrumentation that I really dig-- [ Kairi. Kairi you know not what you have unleashed by encouraging him. save yourself. ] Oh hey, hang on! Since we're apparently gonna be roomies and all, I'll totally lend you my mp3 for a few hours sometime if you ever wanna give them a try--
[ ugh. a stray thought and then a frown crosses his face, putting a dent in his enthusiasm. ] Or I mean, I would, but uh, I'm not really sure how much longer my battery's gonna last, and I heard from someone else that we're kinda stuck in the dark ages here technology-wise, so... once it's dead I'm probably gonna have to hold a funeral for it.
[ there's something else to add to the list of things that are gonna suck about being stuck here... ]
no subject
[Kairi takes a moment to brainstorm. It would really suck if he couldn't listen to his music after being so excited about it.]
Well we do have those laptops. I don't know what they're running on but maybe you can use it too? Do you have the cord for your mp3?
no subject
[ and he'll just promptly swing his bag off his back and start rummaging through it. ]
no subject
Did you find it?
no subject
Yeah, I got it. [ he adjusts himself slightly so that he's sitting cross-legged on the floor, close enough to see the laptop. ] Oh, is that your hex color thingy?
no subject
[She does like pink.]
Alright, wanna give it a shot?
no subject
nothing. no reaction from the laptop, nothing to say it's connected, not even some kinda error bar. after a few moments of this total anti-climatic buzzkill, Michael grabs the mp3 to check on it, and... yeah there sure is no sign of a battery charging there. ]
Seriously? Nothing?
[ noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ]
no subject
[She's not nearly as bummed as he is, but still feels sorry about it. Kairi unplugs it from her computer to hand back to him.]
You still wanna have that funeral?
no subject
[ and then, without warning, Michael flops forward with a disappointed, frustrated noise that can only be rendered in text as "gaaaaaaaahhhhh", his hood flopping over his head. enjoy having that unexpected upside-down staring match with the cute polar bear face on the back of his head, Kairi. ]
Man, this sucks. Why give us these weird magical laptops at all if they don't even work right? Like, how does that even work with the whole medieval vibe going on with everything else?
[ huffing out The World's Biggest Sigh, he straightens back up. he leans his elbows on his crossed knees and shoots her a genuine smile at the callback to his own dorky joke. ] Yup, guess now we got no choice except to give this little guy a proper send-off. It was cool of you to try saving it, though.
no subject
It'll be okay. Maybe we can find another way to fix it. But let's give it a proper farewell.
[She grins then gets a serious look on her face as she folds her hands together.]
May it safely travel to the Underworld.

Though its life was brief, it was full. Let us give thanks for all the gnarly grooves it played to ears that would listen, the car jams it made possible, and the bus rides it made bearable. Amen.
[ to his credit, he only cracked up and broke character maybe twice during that. ]
no subject
Well...Maybe don't throw it away just yet. We can figure out something else I'm sure.
no subject
[ he laughs, pocketing it back in his hoodie before leaning back himself so both palms are resting on the floor behind him. ]
So, totally changing the subject-- I'm pretty sure I've met more people from more places tonight than like, the rest of my life put together, but where're you from?
no subject
[Kairi sits back a little after closing the laptop.]
I'm from a world called Destiny Islands. How 'bout you?

It... depends where you go? Where I live's all built up and industrial, and you got the turnpike cutting through everything on its way to New York, but if you head down to the Pine Barrens in South Jersey, that's like all forest. And then there's the Shore, I guess, so... we kinda got a bit of everything? [ beat. ] Y'know, I've never had to think about it that much before.
