[ Allow me to set the scene:

The unicorn had - at one point - gently rests its muzzle against Haru's thigh and let her stroke its mane. Then, it had rembered (or noticed) that Minato was also there, at which point it had gone back to being standoffish by the trees.

Haru had not gotten a hair by that point, unfortunately.

Now, she's been running back and forth after it for the last ten minutes while Minato provides moral support! ... Or something.

She wheezes. ]

Um... Has it gotten any closer yet?

[ Spoiler alert: It hasn't. ]

[This is so, so embarrassing.

With his usual, calm and gentle unwillingness to say no, when Haru had suggested they take on this quest, he'd... ultimately ended up rolling with it, even though Minato knows unicorn lore just fine.

And it seems fine, when he's hanging back and Haru's handling the actual unicorn bit, but once it notices him--

All bets are off.

He watches it eye him warily, snorting and pawing at the ground, and grimaces. He can summon you as a Persona, asshole!]

Uh... no.

[ Leaning down, she rests her hands on her upper thighs, panting. A unicorn runs as fast as a horse and she runs as fast as a Haru. It is no contest. ]

I know.

[ She really, really knows. ]

Perhaps we need to come up with a new strategy.

[ Haru likes Minato too much to even consider telling him to go away! Fortunately, she has no idea that he is even the cause of this trouble. ]

... Would you like to try?

... Ah.

[Look, he doesn't know what unicorns like or dislike, but he knows the mythology. Unicorns are supposed to go to virgins, aren't they...?]

... I can try.

[Minato should just say that he won't, but you know...here he is, instead nodding to her and lifting his hands placatingly as he looks at the unicorn watching them warily from the distance.

...He takes a step towards it and it immediately bolts.

[ Haru takes off an instant, running after it...







Up until she trips on a root.

And falls flat on her nose. ]

- ah!

[ Well, that was adorable. ]

[Oh no.

Minato immediately ditches the unicorn issue in favor of hurrying over to Haru's side, crouching next to her to gently reach out to her.]

Okumura-san--! Are you okay?

[ Has Haru ever been okay? For a single day in her life? ... Only history will tell. ]

Yes! Yes, I'm quite alright.

[ Well, her pride might be a bit dented. She accepts his hand as she ambles quite awkwardly to her feet. Her tights are a bit more torn now about the knees, but other than that, she's no worse for wear. ]

I don't think I can outrun him, though. [ The unicorn hovers several yards away, clearly in view, one hoof pawing against the dirt floor. ] If he only runs from you, perhaps - perhaps you could go around and lure him - or her, of course - toward me?

[Her poor tights... that's one piece of clothing Minato can't actually mend for her, so he feels even worse.

Still, she's gamely continuing, so what can Minato do but his best too?]

... Hm, okay. I'll try going around--maybe if they're running away from me, and see you, they'll just go to you instead?

Minato just nods quietly, and then moves to make a big, big circle away from Haru, so the unicorn doesn't try to run in the wrong direction when they're not ready. Patience... patience....................

He steps towards the unicorn from the opposite side.

It takes one look at him, and immediately runs in Haru's direction.]

[ Within a few minutes, Haru has once again urged the unicorn to rest its weary haunches. She is so extra virginal, it seems, that she can lull the most mythical of creatures into a more docile state by simply speaking softly at it.

This time, she learns from her mistakes, and quickly plucks a hair from its mane before it can remember to be offended by Minato's existence again.

Over the unicorn's head, she gives her partner one (1) thumbs up.

It is extremely dorky. ]

[And in response, Minato flashes her a thumbs up in return and...then gestures towards the woods from whence they came.

Let's get out of here, Haru.
