Flavo Cleaning Buddies
Who: Sorey, Izuku and possibly Ryoji
Where: The shared house in Flavo
When: During Event 2
What: Cleaning and discovering you actually have roommates??
Warnings: None at the moment
In all honesty, this wasn't unexpected. Sorey knew from the moment he saw these houses that they were any number of small triggers away from completely collapsing. The fact they had continued to stand anyway was nothing short of a miracle.
What he hadn't expected was for the house he'd been staying in to collapse while he was away. He supposes that small detail's a good thing overall--it would've been bad if he'd been in it when it collapsed.
The problem, though, was that his laptop had been left inside. Inside, where it now presumably lay under a rubble pile of splintered wood, fallen beams, and broken glass. He needs to dig it out, but after he does that...what then? He couldn't just move it to a different house since all the houses in this section suffered a similar fate.
Surveying the damage with his hands on his hips he breathes a sigh before stretching. The day's still new and nothing will get done if he just stands there. With that in mind, he kneels down to begin digging through the rubble. It doesn't take him long to become single-mindedly focused on it, so if someone happens to be nearby, he might not notice them immediately...

Watch out... It probably isn't safe to linger around here? Are you looking for something?
no subject
You're probably right, but this is where I've been living... [And he wouldn't know where to go otherwise, it's not like any other house is any sturdier.]
Yeah, my, um...the thing that has those quests on it was left in here, so I'm trying to find it. [Laptops are still a foreign concept to him, forgive the lack of vocabulary.]
no subject
[ Said with the two words stressed separately, but with a hint of pride that suggests this is a new vocabulary word for Ryoji too, and he can't help with all the nuances behind a laptop besides its given name that he's just recently learned himself. ]
They seem like very important objects, don't they? Some people have been carrying them around with them... Mine is inside too.
[ He gestures at the rubble. It's somewhere in there, hopefully still intact. ]
We must live in the same building, then. We've been missing each other.
no subject
[He'd paused what he'd been doing when the other boy started talking to him but quickly returns to the task at hand. The sky was looking a little grayer than it already is, so he's worried about the possibility of rain while things are like this. The last few sentences make him pause again, though.]
Wait, yours too? How long have you been living here? [He's not sure about how they'd miss each other that much, although...the fact he didn't spend much time there to begin with probably made it more of a possibility than not.]
no subject
I've been here since... Well, I'm not sure how many days it's been. They've been blurring all together... [ That's what happens when you don't have to sleep, so you don't, and all the days become one giant stretch of time with nothing to break it up. ]
Since I woke up in that well, I suppose. With Izuku.
no subject
He listens to what the other is saying, continuing to work on clearing away whatever he can. He can understand the blurring together comment, though not in the way it was meant.]
Yeah, it's been like that for me too. Nothing has text on it, so we don't even have a calendar. It's hard to tell sometimes how much daylight is even left.
[A curious frown.] That long, huh? Man...I didn't think I was away from the house that long or much...
Well, it's nice to meet you, um... [Crap! He'd forgotten to introduce himself! Again! He was doing that a lot lately. Not that Mikleo was here to scold him about it or anything.] I-I'm sorry, what's your name? Mine's Sorey.
[It seems he's misinterpreted the last part of what the other said, so he doesn't comment on it.]
no subject
My name's Ryoji! On the laptop, my number is... Mm... [ He doesn't have his hex code memorized; it's not as if he needs to, anyways, since he's the one typing in it. ]
It starts with a five, and is a dark yellow.
no subject
Mine's...um... [He didn't really pay attention to that either.
He laughs nervously when he finally accepts he's drawing a blank.]
I can't remember mine either, but it's a bright yellow. Hard to read, actually.
no subject
Bright colors just means people will slow down and give each word careful consideration. It's not necessarily a bad thing. [ It HURTS but that's not Sorey's fault. ]
Let's dig out your laptop as soon as we can, so we can see what color it is.
no subject
Huh, you think so? [It's a nice thought if true.]
[He sits back for a moment to sigh and gauge their progress. They've made a sorta decent dent, he thinks. Maybe they're almost into the house proper? They'd need to be careful of positioning themselves under anything. The house may've fallen apart already, but it could always crumble further. Years of ruin exploration taught him that.]
Careful. Some of what's still standing could decide it wants to collapse too. [And the moisture from the impending rain definitely won't help in preventing that.]
no subject
I don't know how to fix a house, but to keep us from getting hurt... [ He stands up straight and steps close to Sorey's side, and around the two of them forms a barrier. It's hard to see, if not for the dust that falls from the ceiling at the movement, hitting the otherwise invisible barrier and sliding off its surface without passing through. ]
We don't have to worry about that. I can keep us safe.
no subject
Woah...did you make this?
[He's reaching out to see what happens if his hand touches the inner edge--to see if it's passable or not. His question probably sounds dumb by most standards, but in his world he can create a similar barrier--except the barrier is the technique of his friend that he just borrows and not something he makes by himself.]
no subject
[ But something from the inside can still reach out, evidenced by the way Sorey's hand can extend past the boundaries of the barrier without encountering anything solid at all, although any falling rubble will hit the tips of his fingers or however much of his hand extends past the protection of the barrier. ]
I can't extend it if you stray too far away, so you'll have to stay right next to me, alright?
We can keep going if you want, or just handwave the rest of it. Your call~!
Got it, that shouldn't be a problem.
[And so, now that he knows he can still reach through the barrier, he goes back to working on clearing the rubble he can reach. His laptop had been left near the wall where his make-shift bed was, so he can only hope it's not crushed.]
no subject
"Oh no!" He rushes forward and immediately begins helping Sorey haul the rubble out of the way. "What happened?"
no subject
"Oh, thanks!" He says with a bright smile to the other boy before returning to clearing out what he can.
"I'm not sure! It was fine when I left, but when I came back it was like this. Was there an earthquake?"
no subject
Something about what Sorey said makes Izuku pause, though. “Wait. Did you say ‘when you left’?”
Izuku's face in that icon is too cute.... TT TT
"That's true, but...all at once, though? Usually buildings like this start falling apart according to how old they are. This house didn't seem that old to me..." He mumbles this in half reply and half to himself, loud enough for Izuku to still hear him.
He pauses momentarily to look at Izuku when the question is asked before nodding, "Yeah, I've been living here since we all got here, though I'd left to go look around for a bit."
no subject
"Wait, really?" Despite the situation, Izuku finds it in himself to smile at Sorey.
"Hey, that means you're the other housemate that we keep missing! Mochizuki-kun and I were hoping we could catch you at some point."
no subject
"Wait, you live here too?!"
He blinks as this new information sinks in, his expression changing into a matching, bright smile.
"Guess I should've come back more often. Sorry about that! What's your name?"
no subject
"That's okay, I think we've all been kind of busy trying to figure out what's going on in this place. I'm Izuku Midoriya!" Izuku says, growing more animated with each word. "What about you?"
no subject
A pause before he nods in acknowledgement, smiling once again.
"Nice to meet you, Izuku! I'm Sorey."
The exchange and revelation has been distracting him from the rubble pile that's currently their house. The feeling of a very light drop of water on his nose is what snaps his attention back to the task at hand. He looks up at the sky briefly before going back to work.
"Shoot, looks like the rain's getting closer. I left my laptop here when I went out earlier. Did you leave anything in here too?"
no subject
"And Mochizuki-kun probably has his laptop in here, too. He doesn't really remember to use it most of the time..." His eyes scan the other nearby houses with a frown. "Maybe we should move our stuff to one of the empty cottages for now. It'll be easier to clean up if we don't have to worry about anything of ours breaking, too."
no subject
"Most of this is stone and wood...if Edna were here we could use her powers to move all this, maybe even help other people nearby..." He's mostly musing this to himself, but he's not making any effort to hide it.
Izuku's suggestion has his gaze lifting to one of the few nearby houses still standing, somehow, an odd sight against so many broken houses.
"That's a good idea. Hopefully it can withstand the rain long enough for that...and we have to get our stuff out of this first," he says, frowning as he regards the pile of debris.
"Do you...maybe know a way we can move this stuff faster? At least to get far enough in to find our stuff before the rain really starts?"
no subject
Izuku studies the rubble quickly, trying to think of a better plan. Then, he says, "LEt's just focus our search on the areas we know our belongings are. After we move everything out of here, we can clean up the rest of this."
I'm cool with leaving this thread here if you want, unless there's somewhere you wanna go with it?
He nods at the suggestion. If they have no other ways of dealing with the rubble, that would make for the best course of action right now.
"Yeah," he says finally, surveying the rubble, "I think...I had my stuff over there." He points to where one of the walls of the house was, though now it was mostly gone.
"What about yours? Think maybe we should split up the work for this?"
If he digs for his stuff and Izuku digs for his own stuff, he's thinking that'd create an even split of time so they can both get their stuff before the rain comes.
