[It's not like he's predictable or anything, Lupin... (he is). It's fine though. Minato just breathes out a faintly amused sigh, unsurprised that that didn't escape Lupin's notice.]
... Yeah. I have...twelve.
[... With him, anyway. It's. It's Complicated. ANYWAY.]
So I guess it helps me to have some variety when I need it, like when dealing with crafty werewolves. I think you're right--they seem really smart.
T-Twelve? Don't tell me that means you've got twelve split personalities, or something...
[ it sounds ridiculous, but so does being attacked by werewolves or summoning demons from your head by shooting yourself? Sorry, Lupin's stuck on this for the moment. ]
I do have a couple [three, which still makes him Weird compared to everyone else's two] of Personas that reflect me in particular, but the rest are more like...
[Hmmm.]
... Huh... this is harder to explain than I expected... [He's never had to before!!]
[ Lupin tilts his head at Minato as he looks for the words to explain his JRPG magic, waiting patiently, albeit confusedly. A confusion that Minato shares, apparently. His conclusion gets a small laugh out of Lupin. ]
You don't have to strain yourself. As long as you're not about to turn into Mr. Hyde on me, I don't really mind. Magic doesn't make sense on principle, right?
Hah. All right, then. I'm inclined to believe you.
[ honestly, Minato seems far too well-adjusted to have a problem like that, anyway. He glances briefly in the direction of the downed werewolf, then back to Minato, shaking his head. ]
That would knock a normal person out for an hour or so... but I can't say I've tested it on a werewolf before. What do you say we get out of here before I find out if there's a difference?
[He doesn't have any interest in killing the werewolf, even if he knows it'd probably be for the better to protect people from it later... he's too gentle of a soul to really be able to do something like that when it's unconscious and just lying there.
Retreat sounds good!
And as they go--]
Have you been patrolling to try to protect people, Lupin-san?
[ despite his injury, Lupin is as swift as ever - probably thanks to a combination of Minato's handy healing spell and his own natural tenacity. There's an eerie stillness blanketing the streets that's practically shouting "you're about to get ambushed," but he's sure that he can handle it. Once again, despite his injury. The wolf might have hurt his body, but it couldn't put a scratch on his ego. ]
Something like that, I guess. Fighting isn't really my thing, but my conscience wouldn't let me rest while everyone was in danger out here. I might not be able to fight off a hairy monster, but I'm a regular pro at saving damsels.
[ and that applies to the male damsels, too, naturally. ]
[Minato's steady as they make their way through the streets, Evoker tucked away neatly but sword still in hand. He's as laidback as ever, his free hand in his pocket, but... there's a certain level of readiness to him anyway, as he warily watches the streets around him.]
That's fair, I think... sort of like...
[He's quiet for a moment as he muses on how to put it, before he finally settles on:]
It doesn't feel right to sit back and do nothing when there's something you can do, even if it's dangerous.
[There's some howling that is...eerily close; Minato looks over his shoulder warily, hairs rising on the back of his neck as he tries to peer through the darkness.]
[ Minato has a sword?! Minato has a sword, apparently. He'll have to ask about that. Mostly, he's surprised anyone is still using swords in 150 years when guns are already replacing them in his own time - but Minato uses his gun on himself, so maybe it's not effective against the shadow monsters? Then again, he said it wasn't a real gun.
Oh well. He's not one for weapons, anyway. ]
Exactly. I've got a knack for getting in trouble, anyway. Even if I stayed inside, I'd get wrapped up in this some other way.
[ he hears those howls, too, but as far as he can tell, they're not close enough that the two of them need to worry... yet. ]
I'm happy for your feelings, but I wouldn't have made it this far if I couldn't take care of myself.
[ the response is cheery, although perhaps less persuasive than usual, considering Minato just had to heal him. Despite how he'd like to appear, Lupin isn't perfect. ]
Besides, I'm your elder. I should be the one worrying about you, here.
no subject
[ how did he know?! Minato is really too good for this place. ]
You saved me, so that's one less person to worry about. Just be careful. These guys are a lot craftier than I was giving them credit for.
[ ... although Lupin doesn't have a host of demons at his command, so that puts him at a disadvantage here. ]
By the way, that wasn't Orpheus. You didn't tell me you had more than one.

[Weird alternate selves are weird alternate selves.
That's just how it is.]
Anyway, I promise that no matter what happens, I'll always be me. The number of Personas I have won't change that.
[A bit of a smile, and he shakes his head.]
I'm pretty good at that. [At being very, very Minato.]

Ha... at least you're self-aware.
[Minato's amused at that, snorting softly under his breath as they make their way through the shadowed streets.]
But that sort of just makes me worried about you more.

[Sounds fake. He's known a few adults who wanted to try to look after them a little, but mostly he was the one looking after adults.]
Well, you don't have to worry too much, honestly. [A shrug!] I'm pretty good at staying out of trouble.
