Event Six.

If you see this hairy creature
Your first choice should always be to run
Otherwise you had better hope
You have silver bullets in a gun.

he full moon hangs brightly over the Town, hovering so low that it almost feels as though you could reach out and touch it. It should be comforting.

But as the howl of wolves fills the air, it's anything but.

There are werewolves on the prowl, and their target is very clear -- the Town won't be able to last without your help.

Welcome to Awash's sixth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post.

You are welcome to start your own posts or logs for this event as well. If there are any questions, please ask them here. Thank you!

[ Oh, they've seen guns in books too, not that they really understand what they are. But at least the word is familiar. ]

So they are weak to all silver. Not that it matters much since there's none here...

[ Big sigh. They finish collecting the books, lifting the large stack back up easily. ]

You don't know any other weakness they have?

Uhh... no, sorry. [Hunk's trying to wrack his brain, grimacing as he leans his palm against the side of his head.]

It's mostly been silver in everything I've ever seen or read about them.

I mean, maybe if there was a way to make the moon go away, but that'd be even tougher than digging silver out of the ground.

[ So it's the moon, not just night time in general, that caused the wolves to be active? The more you know. ]

Well, I did think it was strange that the moon has been full for a few nights in a row. I didn't know it was related to the issue.

[ They step a little back towards the library, as if expecting him to follow. This new hint is giving them incentive to search for something else. ]

But with your travels, you should already know that a lunar pattern like this should be astrologically impossible. It seems deliberate, given the sudden appearance of those things.

Oh yeah, super impossible. There's nothing natural about it at all.

[Hunk shakes his head as he follows after them, not really thinking twice about it. Of course he'll come along! Help look.]

So, what're you looking for this time around?

[ They open the door to the library and leave it open so that he can enter too, scanning the books in the shelves. ]

I've only been looking for texts containing wolves, but I haven't been thinking much about the moon as a factor in it all. In fact, it's barely mentioned in these texts.

[ Slowly, they place one of the books in their arms back in it's rightful place, reading the spines of the books organized next to it. ]

Do you remember from where you learned about their connection to the moon?

Oh, jeez, uh.

[Hunk squints.] It's, like, from a few myths about them. I'm not exactly sure which one would mention it.

There's not exactly a lot of varied books around aside from fairytales. But, I mean. It's been full moon ever since they showed up, so.

[ So...from other stories. It's too bad there isn't a definite answer, but they can't blame him, so they just go about placing the books back on the shelf. ]

Where I lived before coming here, we didn't have any myths or anything like that, but we had a lot of texts about lunar patterns. Most of what happens here gets explained away by "magic", or whatever, but I don't know if something as imprecise as that can explain what's happening here.

[ Hunk's been to space, so they definitely trust his opinion on anything related to the celestial, more than their own limited understanding of it. They lean against one of the shelves, flipping through the pages of one of the books idly. ]

What do you think? For how much longer do you think its possible for the moon to stay like that.

I mean, it shouldn't be possible for the moon to be like that to begin with.

[Hunk gestures vaguely with a wrinkle of his nose.] The moon just doesn't stop... rotating. The max it might look full is four days. Tops. If it goes beyond that, there's more to it than just a full moon.

I mean, if it went on for too long you'd see reactions on this planet.

[ They give a little 'hmm', nodding. ]

Normally we would be able to tell by the shift in tide, or something like that, but that creepy water keeps us from making that sort of judgment...

[ Yet another aggravating part of this dump. To be honest, they are quite skeptical of all that magic stuff, if only because its so...far-fetched from their own reality, seems so impossible that its hard to take the things that happen here very seriously. ]

If it's "more" than just a full moon...do you believe in "magic" then? As that being the cause of so much here.

Uhh.

[Hunk sighs out at the question and puts his hands on his hips, his head hanging like this is something he's thought about wayyyy too many times before.]

I mean... I don't want to. Believe in magic. But, like, even back where I'm from there're aliens with these magical-ish abilities. So we've gotta consider it as a reason.
