[It was hard not to notice the town in total disarray as the wolves started coming in. It's why he immediately flew off and took to the air to keep an eye on things and see where he could help out. It's also how he comes across Nyx...galloping off toward Flavo.
And so he follows.]
Nyx! What's the plan of action? [At least his flying speed is decent enough to keep up.]
[Nyx greets John with a sharp nod, adjusting his grip on the reigns to keep his chocobo steady. Here's where the real task starts; as the team starts gathering and orders are given. This is the kind of thing they were formed for.
He hopes they've prepared enough.]
Account for everyone that lives in Flavo that you can. If there's anyone that isn't up and preparing they need to be warned. All noncombatants should be evacuated. There's a lot of yard space and growth in Flavo, and I don't want to give these monsters any foot in the door here.
Right! That sounds solid to me. Where can they be evacuated to though? The wolves are going to start spreading through the town...do we have a safe place to guide people that's going to be guarded?
Not yet that I've heard, but we can hold these things off until we do.
[He gives it a moment's thought.]
Send them to Ruga, near the center. The brick should be able to hold off attack long enough for someone to fight off whatever's trying to get in if the wolves even get that far.
Bricks are harder to claw through. [So that's a good point.] I'll see if I can scout out somewhere with thicker walls than the others since some of the buildings are still falling apart. And if I see any of the others I'll send them to come find you, too.
[But his eyes drift to the Chocobo.] Is your bird going to be alright?
I hope so. [Real reassuring, buddy.] Chocobos are skilled at avoiding danger. Soon as she smells danger she's going to want to get out of the way. I just hope whatever we're going to be facing isn't faster than she is.
[But he can't worry about that. Not yet.]
I'm going to do a sweep and tell anyone I find to get to safety, then you can meet me at the forest's edge. If you can think of any way to redirect them somewhere we can set up traps I'm all ears. They'll be much easier to defend against if we knew where they were coming from.
[A nod of understanding, but he won't bring up that wolves might be fast if his bird's not faster. Save the Chocobo. Instead, he seems to pause on that.]
I can probably get close enough to trap them myself and carry them to the actual traps. Does that count? Get them out of the way and see which clearing they're coming in from.
[He thinks about it for a moment. There's merit in the idea but there's also a lot of risk involved.]
If they're vicious enough or brave enough to be attacking a human civilization like this, even as small as we are, then the chances of getting hurt are exponentially higher. If you can trap them without risking your ass doing so, then it's a valid plan. Otherwise I'm not going to recommend it.
The Windy Thing can be controlled enough to capture them for a bit. I can probably also move them that way, too, to give people time to outrun them. That's about the only real plan I have so far.
Best one we've got at the moment. Evacuation first. Start at the west end and pass the word to everyone you see, giving them whatever time you can if these things have already breached the town. Once we've got our district roughly on the same page we can figure out how to handle what we're dealing with.
