Haru is pretty tired herself right now, honestly. She's spent the past few nights, from sun down to sun up, with Milady summoned and ready to go at a moment's notice. The only rest she's gotten has been during the day, when the threat was abated, and even those are more in the vein of catnaps and brief dozing than anything. By now, there are some faint creases under her eyes, tinged with sleeplessness.
So, she definitely understands his desire for a nap, but no - no - this is not a good place for it.
Haru will gently try to rouse him without touching him, leaning over a bit. ]
[ he's always been a light sleeper - one has to be ready for threats at any time if one lives a life of crime. Which means he spends only a brief moment groaning groggily when he hears a voice; immediately afterwards, his eyes snap open, and he's darted up onto his feet with impressive speed. He looks like he's ready to fight - his gaze is broad, muscles taut, as he tries to survey exactly what happened here.
There's dirt on his shirt. There's dirt on his face. There's a sort of nasty, rusty taste lingering in his mouth. Worst of all, there's a cute girl standing nearby and taking it all in, looking worried about him. Why does it always have to be a cute girl? ]
-- That was an inconvenient spot for a nap, wasn't it? Er... [ the joke is more to make himself feel better than anything. he's slowly recalling the events that led up to this point, and they're not good. Not good at all. ] ... I didn't hurt you, did I?
[ Of course, with the situation being what it is, it only takes Haru a few moments to figure out why he's asking such a question. Haru straightens up. Her gaze is still kept on him, but not quite for the reasons it was a moment ago. She isn't being cold, or even wary. Merely cautious. It doesn't mean she's any less worried about him. ]
Do you remember a great deal about the previous night?
[ He had sprung up so fast. To Haru's credit, she doesn't look remotely discombobulated. ]
[ the lack of wariness is noted with a mixture of relief and bitter surprise. Lupin thinks it's ironic that he's worried about people being afraid of him when he's been a criminal his whole life, but, well, he was never a criminal who ate people. And he'd like to stay that way, thank you very much.
His posture relaxes, and he sets to work dusting himself off as best he can. ]
Mostly everything, as far as I can tell. I'm not sure if that's for better or worse.
[ he was asking her just to make sure. He wasn't himself; it's not a stretch to say he might not remember everything he did. ]
[ She says it plainly, because Haru has never been one to keep her opinions to herself. She certainly isn't going to try to force this view on him. The more important thing is ensuring he is alright. ]
You should probably go home, though. You need a few hours of proper bedrest. [ And then, largely because she has nothing better to do-- ] Would you like me to walk with you?
[ oh, she took that seriously. in truth, he's in total agreement with her; he just isn't feeling too pleased with himself right now, and running away from it is sounding far from unappealing. ]
... As much as I'd love your company, mademoiselle, I'm concerned about just returning home. When the sun sets, I'll probably lose control again.
[ he could go into the woods, but that's as good as a death sentence, and as much as he hates hurting people, he's not a martyr. There's got to be a better solution. ]
My house has one, so I'm sure some of the others, do, too - at least in Ruga. Maybe in Flavo, too. And not all the houses have people living in them.
[ which means there's probably some abandoned house he can shove himself into somewhere - preferably on the edge of town. Lupin doesn't seem to mind the fact that she's inserted herself into this equation. The more help, the better, probably. ]
The problem is finding a place I can't break out of.
[ since, beyond the werewolf thing, he's also a master thief who makes a living out of being able to open locks. ]
[ he sounds more bewildered than doubting, looking over Haru once more, as if he might have missed something. Nope - just a petite, fluffy-looking girl, and a very cute one, at that.
Still. Appearances can be deceiving. He's not about to assume she's helpless when he barely knows her. ]
[ she ... doesn't look like the type of girl to have an axe? But Lupin's not about to deny that an axe is a handy defense against werewolves, although he's less eager about having it used against him. He scratches his cheek. ]
That's great, but I'd rather not wake up the next morning missing bits and pieces.
[ That isn't what she meant! Although Haru isn't sure what she did mean in the immediate aftermath. Her abilities aren't exactly geared toward inoffensive guarding. She wants to help him! She just... She doesn't know how. ]
That's perfectly understandable.
[ Thinking, thinking, thinking... ]
Although it wouldn't be my intention to use it on you, I realise it's no longer an effective deterrent.

Maybe... I can be locked up somewhere.

[ Yes, we. She seems to be including herself in this regardless of what Lupin himself may want. It, uh. It happens. ]
I'm afraid I still don't know the geography of this town all that well... Is there a basement somewhere?
[ Which begs the question, what gives basements a structural advantage over any other makeshift jail cell?
... who can say. ]

A basement with a really strong door?
[ Or - or that. ]

[ or pick it... but good try, Haru, he's not holding it against her. ]
Chains, maybe. Or a cage? Kinda embarrassing, but I'd rather that than hurt anyone.

I do have another solution. I could guard you for the night.

[ she has an axe, so who knows. Lupin does have knockout gas on him, but he'd rather avoid using it outside of emergencies.
Which. Well, this might turn into an emergency if he can't find anything better. ]
... I guess you could always give me a good knock on the head with something.
