[ it’s… surprising, to hear cairngorm say that. it sounds like praise, even if their tone is as flat as ever. dextera doesn’t let himself get a big head about it, but he can feel something ease between them. an acceptance, perhaps, of dextera’s competence at this whole living thing, after the incident in the well. ]
[ Uh!??! Is he eating the animals raw... they don't hold back making a face at that, since they still find the whole eating thing humans do kind of gross, not to mention that it seems like most humans liked to heat up their food before eating it, for whatever strange reason. Whatever floats his boat, they guess. ]
I don't really care about all that eating stuff. [ They wave a hand dismissively, as if they don't want to be on the topic for any longer than they have to. ] Just as long as you avoid getting eaten yourself.
[ There's a tired sigh, while they stretch their free hand over their head to try and wake themselves back up now that they're back in the darkness. ]
[ sorry, but Hell Yeah he’s eating the animals raw. he knows that part is gross, though, so he’s not at all offended by their disgusted expression. although it’s normal for his world, he’s had people slap his wrist enough times about doing that in public that he understands most people are not down to clown with offal.
especially not rocks, who “don’t care” about eating. ]
Soon. [ that much, he can promise. ] Are you all right?
I'm fine. It's just that my kind aren't meant to stay up during the night. [ They give a quick glance up at the full bright moon, knowing that there are many hours of nighttime ahead given it's position. ] We can, but it's tiring for us. Our energy comes from light...
[ Cairngorm elaborates a little, even if they trail off, just to make sure he gets it. They're not in danger of passing straight out, but it's definitely taxing to go against the natural way their body is meant to function. ]
[ oh… light. dextera has plenty of that. he withdraws that crystal of his, the same one that cairngorm saw from their last adventure, and he offers it out—still holding onto it, because please don’t touch his soul, but the glow is bright enough that cairngorm can probably get what he means. ]
[ Their tired eyes fall on that little crystal, blinking slowly. They linger there for a second, before looking at him, searching for any sign of exertion. ]
Yes, like this.
[ A beat. Its refreshing, and they are desperate, so they don't mind moving a little closer since its for a good reason. It's to both of their benefit the more awake they are, after all, so they go a little further to come close enough so that their face is illuminated, taking in the light gratefully. ]
[ dextera shakes his head. constantly being in attack mode with his hands glowing is a little exhausting, but the crystal is self-illuminating. it will give off light no matter what, and so dextera doesn’t mind sharing it with someone who seems to need it.
he shifts the crystal to one hand, to continue holding it for cairngorm while he signs. ]
[ For now, they just give a little sigh, rubbing at one of their eyes and staying as close to the light as they can without making things weird for him. ]
...If you say so. [ A slight pause. ] Thanks.
[ See, they can be appreciative. It's a strange sense of revitalization, but they're grateful for it nonetheless as they know they'll need to stay up for quite a bit longer. At least being in the dark around a bright light makes them shine more prettily than they do in plain sunlight, their features twinkling as the pair walk towards the edge of the forest. ]
If you're planning on heading back now, I'll walk with you. [ They offer, not particularly caring because it didn't seem like the wolves were going anywhere, anyway. ] You shouldn't go by yourself.
[ dextera feels so useful now, hearing a “thanks” that seems so genuine, even if he has to take into account cairngorm’s nature to understand how gracious it truly is. he brightens a little himself, and it’s not just from the light of the sephirah. ]

It’s easier.
[ and, the gross part: ]
I must eat animals anyway. I should share.

Thank you. I’d like that.
[ are they—is this friendship? ]
