Awash Prom: The Positivity Party

[ Prom being future logged a bit- being held, icly, around the 12th, so punishments would have died down, and the party could be set up accordingly! ]

I. Breaking The Ice/Mingling

The air has an unmistaken chill to it, but it's certainly nice time for a party. Or, as nice as it's going to get in this town. Besides, at least dancing in cool weather means no one has to deal with having a weird, sweaty partner. Unless one is just so unlucky to get someone who sweats just because they're nervous. If that's the case, there's probably no helping you, buddy.

Regardless, if you're there before anything too exciting started, there's plenty for you to do already. Charades, eat, catch up with friends, meet new people-- the whole shebang! The lucky few adults are welcome to talk to a certain lion about the two bottle of tequlia he's watching over as well. What's a party without a few plastered people?

II. Superlatives

Caramia is the one to demand everyone's attention to gather around for the votes, but it's Kyrie who ends up standing in front of everyone. Not that it's surprising- he was the one to take all the votes, after all. He explains that he would like all the nominees to step forward, and then the winner for each category will be rewarded.

For King, the following are called out: Bruce, Caramia, Gaku, Greed, Guren, Minato, Noctis, Okuyasu, Prompto, Riku, Rin, and Yata. They're all asked to step forward. The winner, Guren is-

Wait. Guren? There's an annoyed bark from the crowd, from, unsurprisingly, Caramia: "Recount!!! Kyrie." There's an exaggerated sigh, but Kyrie takes another look at the ballots, only to shake his head with a laugh and say he must have "forgotten" to count some of the votes. The positivity prince is Guren, with Caramia being the ~~unfortunate~~ King. Guren gets five (5) ballots written suspiciously by Dextera's chickens (their names are written plainly over the top) and a colorless, wooden crown, while Caramia claims the one decorated with gold leafing. How predictable.

For Queen, the names called are: Estelle, Ignis, Kaoru, Maribelle, Maya, Ochako, Prompto, Selina, and Zelda. The winner, Ochako, is presented with a pretty crown, made from wood and decorated with gold leafing, and is told to see Kyrie afterwards for an additional gift. The Princess is Zelda, and she's presented with just as pretty of a crown, sans any color.

For Fool, the names called are: Akira, Dave, Gaku, Greed, Guren, Kyousuke, John, Josuke, Keigo, Ling, Lupin, Mafuyu, Maya, Minato, Okuyasu, Prompto, and Yata. The winner, or winners, Lupin and Keigo, get a special gift- one shot of tequila each. Have fun, y'all.

For the Most Positive Red, the names called to step forward are: Caramia, Clark, Dave, Estelle, Greed, Guren, Josuke, Kirishima, Lupin, Mafuyu, Maya, Ochako, Prompto, Riku, Sora, and Yata. The winner, Ochako, is gifted with a nicely made flower crown of red roses.

For the Most Positive Blue, the names called are: Aqua, Damian, Dextera, Fushimi, John, Minato, Okuyasu, Prompto, Vriska, Yusuke, and Zelda. The winner, Zelda, is fitted with a nicely made flower crown of blue tulips.

For the Most Positive Yellow, the names called are: Damian, Emma, Hunk, Izuku, Kyrie, Ling, Prompto, Ryoji, Shiho, and Sorey. The winner, Prompto--

Oh dear, it seems Kyrie misspoke. Sorry Prompto, hate to get your hopes up! The correct result, by a landslide, is Izuku, and he's given a flower crown of dandelions. At this point, Kyrie tells dear Prompto that he can just stay standing for the long haul. Maybe he'll win something yet.

For the Cutest Couple, the pairs called to step forward are: Bruce and Selina, Caramia and Lupin, Estelle and Joshua, Fushimi and Yata, Greed and Zelda, Guren and Dex, Josuke and Sora, Okuyasu and Ochako, Percy and Annabeth, and Prompto. Mysteriously, Kyrie also goes to stand opposite Lupin beside Caramia, but that could mean anything. The winners, Estelle and Joshua, are given a shot to share... of the remainder of the hug potion Kyrie received from the spider lady quest. Drink it or don't, but be wary of the consequence... Plus, it looks sort of gross.

For the Best Friends, the pairs called are: Bruce and Clark, Caramia and Kyrie, Dave and Keith, Dave and John, Dextera and Leliel, Izuku and Shouto, Kaoru and Shiho, Noctis and Ignis, Noctis and Prompto, Ochako and Izuku, Okuyasu and Josuke, Percy and Annabeth, Prompto, and Sora and Roxas. The winners, Okuyasu and Josuke, get... to high five? In front of everyone, I guess. Have fun, guys.

For the Town Heartthrob, the names called are: Akechi, Akira, Dave, Gaku, Greed, Guren, Ignis, Lupin, Minato, Nyx, Okuyasu, Prompto, Shouto, and Zelda. The winners, Lupin and Zelda, are announced--but, after Kyrie draws out a spare ballot from his pocket and hastily scribbles something onto it, it's announced that there seems to be another miscount! He's so sorry for the mix-up. A mysterious last-second voter turns the tides--Zelda is the winner, and while she doesn't get anything reward-wise, the applaud and flattery from winning should certainly suffice!

For Best Dressed, those called are: Bruce, Dave, Dirk, Gaku, Greed, Ignis, Josuke, Kyrie, Lupin, Maribelle, Ochako, Prompto, Ryo, Selina, and Tenn. The winner, Maribelle, gets ~~a lovely and striking~~ the usual, ugly pair of peasant clothing from Kyrie. Thanks...?

For Coolest, those called are: Akechi, Akira, Damian, Dave, Greed, Guren, Ignis, Izuku, Keith, Kyrie, Lupin, Minato, Noctis, Okuyasu, Prompto, and Tenn. The winner, Dave... doesn't get anything. Sorry, Dave. You're still the coolest, or something.

For Most Helpful, those called are: Akechi, Caramia, Damian, Dave, Dextera, Emma, Fushimi, Guren, Ignis, Izuku, Ling, Maribelle, Minato, Ochako, Prompto, Riku and Sora. Seeing as this, however, results a five-way tie, Kyrie sighs and tells them all that their prize is to "help" each other figure out who the winners ought to be.

And finally, for Most Likely To Fall Down The Well, Kyrie coaxes the following over: Clark, Gaku, Guren, Jake, John, Kamui, Keigo, Ling, Mafuyu, Minato, Okuyasu, Prompto, Riku, and Yata. Before the results are announced, a vote for "Not Prompto" disqualifies Prompto from the runnings, and he's told he can finally sit. The ever so lucky winner of this amazing category is none other than our resident ~~klutz~~ idol (or rather one of them): Riku!! Congratulations, Riku!!!! His prize is... having proved everyone wrong for today! Probably!

III. Dancing

Once the superlatives pass, the King and Queen get first dance, and the others will trickle in as they see fit. But overall, between Summer, Riku, Gaku, and Tenn all switching out to work on the music respectively, so it's certainly not going to be quiet any time soon. But parties would be boring if they were quiet, right? Grab a partner and join in!

IV. Mafia
[ Next Friday(06/15) at 9 PM EST, we are going to have an IC game of mafia. You'll have to make an account (it takes only a second to set up), but everything will happen in real-time, and it'll be fun to have us all chaotically doing stuff like that together. We hope you can join us! On the previous Friday, if we have enough requests, we may hold an OOC game to show people the game.

Because I'm not that worried, obviously. I'd consider it a failure on my part if you actually managed to get me.

[ he's a fleet-footed thief, and a pretty good dancer to boot, if he does say so himself! As if to prove his point, he fearlessly begins to sway, taking slow steps to ease Cairngorm into the movement. They're heavy enough that he couldn't drag them along even if he wanted to. But he never had any intention to bully Cairn over this - especially not when they're looking so anxious. ]

Relax. Don't worry about the other people. All you have to do is try, and follow my lead. Leave the rest to me. [ they never seem to have faith in him... he supposes he must seem incredibly soft and fragile from their point of view, but he's anything but. Lupin has to wonder how he'll ever convince them of that. ] I won't break that easily.

[ Their grip in his hand becomes a little firmer when he actually starts moving, eyes glancing down now and then at their feet to make sure they copy his footwork. It's a bit awkward to catch the rhythm at first for them, but they're taking learning this as they would any new fighting or other work-related technique - it's easier that way, if they think of it as a skill to be acquired. ]

Oh, that's rich. [ It's almost too ironic to hear that phrase from anyone but a gem. ] We'll see about that if I get you.

[ Not that they expect to step on him; they're not that clumsy. In fact, this first part of dancing is pretty easy to fall into, as long as they ignore all the weird parts. It helps in relaxing their tightly-wound aura the slightest bit, face falling closer to flat while they do their best to follow and anticipate his movements - they've always been good at mirroring others, afterall. ]

...Is this really all I'm supposed to do?

[ The unspoken second half of what he says is that he has faith that Cairngorm wouldn't be so clumsy, either. The challenge makes Lupin grin cheekily. ]

You make it sound like you're going to try. Let's concentrate on getting your steps right and not breaking my bones, yeah? [ he dares you to try stomping his feet, Cairngorm!! However, he moves on readily. ] This is the easy part. But since you sound confident, we can try something more adventurous.

[ he tugs them in just a little bit closer to his chest, and then, he speeds up his footsteps from their slow, training pace to something a little more in tune with whatever music is being played at the moment, pulling Cairngorm into tight, quick circles that match the beat. If they can keep up with him here, he can try something more, too - although Cairngorm's too heavy to dip or lift up. Sad. He'll work around it... ]

[ It's okay for the first few steps that they start twirling around, but they stumble first on the third or fourth turn - which might have resulted in them slamming their foot into his if not for years of avoiding accidental contact on their part. Instead, they harshly scrape their high heel against the floor in an arc on the next turn, regaining their balance and keeping their momentum simultaneously - just like any other recovery from slipping on the ice. That definitely left a mark on the floor...not that they particularly care. ]

Hmm. [ Admittedly, having to put a lot more focus into keeping up is making it hard to think up witty remarks. ] Don't try anything that I won't be able to adapt to quickly.

[ It's awkward to adapt to these new steps, but it's really him that needs to be cautious in choosing, in their opinion. They're aware that to rely on him for balance as they grow accustomed to this will only result in dragging him down, so they keep their hand on him light and their occasional recovery steps out and away from him entirely, just to be safe. See, they do care about not smashing his feet into pieces, even if they don't admit it out loud. ]

[ gently, he laughs - not at their fumble, but at their steadfast determination to keep up while also avoiding touching him. They're not half as cold as they like to act. Lupin slows down a tick to lessen the load on them, accomodating, as always. ]

I've got you. [ he doesn't want to be too hard on them - just enough to tease. ] You're quick on your feet for being so heavy. Here --

[ he lets go of their hip, raising their connected hands higher up as he takes a step back - any human familiar with dancing would know what he was expecting, but Cairn doesn't fit that description, so: ]

-- Go on, do a spin!

[ Oh, him slowing down is helpful-- at least, it is until he prompts them to spin around. ]

What?

[ They get confused when he abruptly asks them to do that, their momentum carrying them through half of a spin that they kind of just end up doing by accident because of his leading. But their bewilderment catches up in the second half, causing the remaining turn to look more like...step, turn. Step, turn. Clunky, instead of graceful, and they mostly only complete it so they can face him again, expression equal parts puzzled and exasperated. ]

Why am I the only one who has to do it...

[ They mutter, glancing up at their hands and not closing the distance between them genuinely just because they're at a loss of what they're supposed to be doing without his instruction. ]

[ even Lupin has limits on what he can hold in, and he has to laugh at that incredibly awkward spin - mirth bubbles up from inside of him, helplessly, and he's still laughing a little as he pulls them back in close after a missed beat or two. ]

Because I'm leading and you're following! What, do you want to twirl me? [ another chuckle. ] All right, now dip...

[ missed beats aside, he keeps on going with the dance moves, winding his arm around Cairn's waist as he leans in towards them. Normally, he could just sort of sweep his partner off her feet and support her with his arm; obviously, Cairngorm is way too heavy for that, so all he can do is hope they play along and lean back. He looks like he's having fun, at least. ]

Stop laughing!!

[ Out of habit of clenching their fists when pissed off, they tighten their hand in his, probably harder than is really necessary to get the point across. Honestly? Its what he deserves for laughing at them, in their opinion, so they won't feel an ounce of guilt if it hurts. They look about as genuinely mad as they are flustered-- or, they would to someone used to telling the subtle difference between the variety of their I'm-displeased-expressions.

Despite their best efforts to not comply out of defiance, when he leans in towards them, they lean back just to get away, half-doing what they were instructed to again. Only minus the tired-but-putting-up-with-it-puzzlement and plus flat-out irritation, this time. ]

Get lost.

[ Is their blunt response to both his request and to how much he seems to be enjoying himself, staying leaned away as they glare. ]

Hahaha - ouch, ouch, all right! Don't break my fingers!

[ he tries his best to cut off his snickering when Cairngorm starts crunching his hand, and leans back, letting them fall once more into the standard waltz stance. ]

You're just cute! I can't help it.

[ he has definitely pissed them off... but it was probably worth it. ]

[ That definitely earns an eye roll followed by a big frown, and just for that, they don't let up on the hand crunching for an extra second. Did he think by calling them cute they would overlook being mocked???? ]

You're annoying. [ Hard stop. ] What kind of person even laughs at those they find cute.

[ They were trying their best to follow his dumb instructions, and this is how they're repaid...cute people are supposed to be fawned over, not laughed at. ]

[ ow ow his hand ow... okay, he probably deserved that. but he can't help but give Cairngorm a pinch on the hip for all that trouble. Or... try. It probably doesn't actually work, considering the whole rock-skin thing. ]

I'm not making fun of you, I swear! You're cute, so you make me smile.

[ Lupin is being honest here, at least. He's honestly not trying to bully poor Cairngorm - but watching them grumpily go through the steps while he tries to show them how is just so endearing. ]

And I'm laughing because I'm having fun with you.

[ They leer at him hard after he says all that, before promptly turning their head away, light scattering with the movement. That attempted pinch doesn't bother them at all, and when they sigh, it seems like an ounce of their aggravation leaves. ]

Right, right... whatever you say...

[ They can tell he isn't lying, but that doesn't change the fact that they think his explanation is stupid - and that he has weird taste in what he finds cute. Caramia had also said that it would be fun to show them things like this, but they can't really understand why they're both convinced of that. ]

Is it that fun for you to drag me around? I don't see whats fun about it.

[ Would they have fun showing others gem customs...? They don't think so, so they can't imagine this as being a wild time, either. ]

Of course. Why do you think I invited you?

[ at least his hand is safe now - although he does take the opportunity to shift his grip a little, threading his fingers through Cairn's. A bit intimate, perhaps, but also harder for his bones to be crushed. Hopefully.

How to explain this, though... ]

Hmmm... How do I put it? There's a lot about humans you don't know, and there's something refreshing about seeing you experience those new things.

Of course I get surprised. There's just a lot humans have that gems don't, and do that gems don't. Things we would never think of doing...

[ As if on cue, they shift a little awkwardly when he threads their fingers together, but they don't immediately pull away, assuming it's a part of the ritual here. They're pretty sure they've seen it in books, too. ]

Like holding each other like this. [ They pull a little on their hands to gesture to it, even bringing it a bit closer to themself so they can make sure their powder isn't coming off. ] Humans are really insistent on touching each other.

[ he can sense their awkwardness here; he'll let them off the hook soon, he thinks. No need to overstay his welcome and leave a bad impression. ]

Gems aren't? [ rocks wouldn't be that touchy-feely, he supposes. Even now, Cairn's hand feels cold against his. ] It's comforting for us, touching someone, provided both of us want it. It's a sign of trust, it shows you care... It makes you feel less alone. Something like that, anyway.

[ he lets Cairn move their hands without protest - not that he could do much to stop them anyway. ]

... In this context, it's more because I'm supposed to be pulling you along with me, but... still! We're connected. It doesn't feel half bad, does it?

I guess if gems didn't have to worry about getting chipped, they'd probably do it more often like humans do.

[ Cairn wouldn't, but they can see some of the other gems being much more annoyingly affectionate if the obstacle of getting broken wasn't in the way. ]

And it doesn't feel bad, just weird. You said you've been around crystals, so you know what to expect from me, at least somewhat. [ They're satisfied with the state of their hand so they move it back, squeezing his hand a little experimentally. ] But I've never felt anything like this before.

[ Everything about humans is strange and alien, how soft and fragile they are, how they seem to have celebrations left and right. Most of all in this moment, now that they're not trying to crush his hand, what's strange is the pulse they notice there against their palm, and they ease their grip the moment they feel it. Case in point that they have no idea what to expect from humans, and they just avert their eyes to the side and knit their brow together, moving their focus away from him and back to their motion like they're supposed to be doing. ]

[ they mean that in the most literal way possible, he knows, but Lupin can't help but smirk to himself when they drop that line on him, especially when it comes coupled with that little bit of pressure on his hand. It's cute. Very cute. Almost enough to make his heart flutter - almost. ]

Heh. I get that a lot.

[ the dance only continues for a few more beats before Lupin begins to slow it down, gently tugging Cairngorm away from the dance floor as his steps become less circular and more regular. ]

But I think I've embarrassed you enough for one day. I'll let you get back to napping. [ that is Lupin's solitary guess on what Cairngorm would normally be doing...... he takes a step away from them, but he keeps their hand in his, purely so that he can raise it to his lips for a single brief moment. ] Thanks for humoring me.

[ Honestly? They're more than grateful that this is over. Enough that they give a tired sigh when he pulls them off the dancefloor, just keeping their eyes closed so they're not tempted to roll their eyes at the napping comment. He'd be tired too, in their position!!!!

Which is what they were going to say, before he kisses their hand-- and they can only widen their eyes and stare in response, caught off guard. Thankfully they're already aware what it is, but when they saw it in books they didn't really imagine it to be so...soft? It's a foreign and kind of pleasant pressure, but also very weird and unnatural feeling, so they pull their hand out of his grasp as soon as they're able. They're definitely turning around so they can leave, and so they can hide any color that'll show on their face from embarrassment, too. ]

Whatever...just don't expect me to do it again.

[ dismissive handwave while they stomp off!!! ]
