NOTES: This is a double post for both Ryoji (appraiser) and Mafuyu (buncho) to keep the comm neat and tidy! Open prompts are below, closed prompts I'll write in the comments, and you can hit me up at birdseed to hash out any quests you want to do together and I can write the starter! o7

RYOJI
Punishment: "Ryoji will see everyone in the Town in various states of death or decay. When he looks at the characters around him, he will not see them as healthy and full of life as they are, but rather anywhere from the recently deceased to rotting through."

[ Ohhhh no. He didn't want to say anything when he'd first noticed, catching people's eyes and his expression faltering, like he wants to say something, fear and concern in his eyes. What happened to everybody? First they disappeared— so many people had disappeared- he thought they were gone forever- and now they're back and he wishes they were gone, because maybe they've gone home and are somewhere safe and happy.

Instead of this.

Pallid skin. Rotting flesh. Sunken eyes and blood soaked through their clothes. He's supposed to be used to death. He's supposed to be the one to bring it. But this isn't natural. ]

What happened to you...?

[ He murmurs under his breath, staring directly at people but acting as if nobody can hear him. ]

What should I do? I should put you out of your misery.

[ Fulfill his role, you know. ]

[ Solution: if he doesn't want to see what's happening, all he's got to do is blindfold himself. He's got his scarf for that, but it's sort of thick and way to long, wrapped up around his head like a cross between a scarf and a turban that slips over his eyes and makes for a good shield against that mindfucking curse.

It was a good idea. Until he steps outside and can't see anything... Right. Okay. No problem.

Ryoji walks throughout town pretty normally, for the most part. Those who stare hard enough might see something of a bubble around him, translucent and really only apparent when he's right about to walk into a lamp post or building or a tree which in that case, the post bends, the building's wall starts to crumble, tree branches snap, and he backs off. When a person gets too close, it feels like some invisible trying to push them away, and they can't get within a foot of him. ]

[ At some point during the month, Ryoji just goes ahead and hides himself in the well. It was going to be the forest, but he tried the forest last month and there are surprisingly too many people he encountered in the forest to be safe.

The well is different. It's dark and quiet and people only come by to retrieve water, in which he goes ahead and tips the bucket and lets it fill up with water and gives the rope a tug when it's full. Nobody can see him down here. He can pretend to be a helpful well spirit.

Or maybe he gets hit on the head with a wish coin, idk. ]

[ People are looking happy and healthy again and honestly that's enough to make him want to cry, in relief and in joy. Maybe you catch him early enough in the month with that stupid scarf turban on his head and has to be the one to convince him it's alright to take it off now. Maybe you have to wrestle it off his head. Maybe instead you catch him after that embarrassing mess, and he's beaming, going up to each and every person and clapping them on the shoulders just to feel that they're real, telling them they're warm and radiant and beautiful, no matter how tired or sick or weirded out by him they might look, life is beautiful and nothing hurts. ]

[ SHE JUST WANTED TO GO HOME

It's raining today and Mafuyu is standing outside of her house in Ruga, in near tears, because the door keeps repeating:

and Mafuyu keeps shouting back ]

I don't know!! What's an impulse??! Don't turn baseball into math!! Just let me in!

[ Even when she turns away and tries to take refuge in somebody else's house—

Literally crying, because she doesn't understand any of these words. Maybe she might have, if she'd paid attention in class, or hadn't asked Minato to do all her homework, but it's too late now. There's no getting into any of these buildings. ]

I'm just gonna... Go live in the garden or something. Take shelter under a tree.

[ Or pray somebody smarter than her (not hard) comes along to save her. ]

[ Somebody got used to just staying outside like a stray dog, so here she is... Sometimes she's in the garden, sometimes she's at the well, never going into the forest unless she spots somebody entering and asks if she can tag along. She can be seen hanging around people's windows...? Peering inside with a sad look on her face like an abandoned dog :( Don't let her fool you, she just wants to be invited inside for food or something, probably.

But with that wish coin, there's so much power, right in the palm of her hand, and she looks so excited carrying that around, flipping it into the air and catching it like it's a toy and not something precious she shouldn't lose. There are a lot of days where she'd just sit on the edge of the well, feet swinging before her, flagging people down when they come near. ]

Did you wish for anything yet? What're you going to wish for? I won't let you draw any water until you tell me!

[ Shove her inside, maybe, and save yourself. ]

[ Sheep are cute? Invisible sheep are... presumably also cute, but they're also forest sheep so Ryoji's not entirely sure. ]

I wonder... I wish they would breathe fire, so that at least we could see them and be able to help them.

[ his tone is playful, so don't take it too hard, Ryoji. Lupin's not sure how to go about even finding an invisible sheep, let alone shearing one. He's got his cane with him, and a few other things, but he's not sure how helpful they'll be if he doesn't know where to point them. ]

I've got an idea, but we'll need to track them down to put it into play. [ he taps his chin in thought. ] Do you think invisible sheep also have invisible... er, manure?

[ this is not a proper topic of conversation for a parisian gentleman but listen... if they're trying to find a flock of sheep...... ]

[ Bad things happen in the woods... Ryoji's more or less convinced of this by now, but the curiosity is a strong contender. He stands in the middle of a clearing, looking over towards Dextera. A finger to his lips- shh- as if he needs to say twice.

Today's charades are as such: arms outstretched on either side of him, then brought forward to loop in front of him, forming a large circle that then collapses in on itself. ]

[ how dangerous can sheep be, anyway? the geese were pretty terrible, but sheep have a strong biblical precedent as being wholesome, pure. maybe even cute, but they are invisible, so "cute" may not be on the table today. ]

[ dextera slowly repeats the gesture, but this one is pretty easy to get after a beat. right! if they can try to herd them in, then surely at least one of the sheep can be caught. if they're here at all, which dextera suspects they are. they can't see the sheep themselves, but there are footprints, here and there.

when it said "sheep," however, was it one or more? dextera holds up two fingers, questioning. just to be safe, right? ]

[ Mafuyu's sheep revealing tactics are very straightforward: can't see them? make it so you can see them.

AKA as she goes through the forest, she kicks dirt and twigs into the air, letting it fall over their heads and not sheep yet but just wait, and it'll work! If she hasn't scared them clear ten miles away already. ]

[When did Ling get here? Has he been here the whole time? Who knows! It adds to the mystery! But either way, he's here just in time to walk into a cloud of dirt and get a few twigs to the face. Cool...]

[ !! Mafuyu spins around, pruning shears flashing in her hand and about to strike, when she sees that she uncovered a person and not a sheep. Disappointing. ]

You gotta be more energetic too! Keep on your toes and stuff, or things in the forest might get you!

[Pruning shears... honestly Ling is out here with a goddamn sword and he probably can't tell the difference between shears anyway, but damn. They're so prepared.]

I know, I've been here before. Watch out for fairies.

Just! Let! Me! Shear! You!!

[ Mafuyu's having zero luck with the sheep and it's frustrating, having resorted to hauling around a huge pair of hedge clippers and swinging it around like a bludgeon. It whiffs the air and hits absolutely nothing, the momentum causing it to tear free from Mafuyu's grasp and go hurtling into the air.

Never mind the bogeyman; be scared of Mafuyu. ]

<sub>[ Jake has had his adventure with the sheep shearing on a few occasions; both Dave & John needed help, but he had bigger fish to fry at this point. He's decked out in this sort of attire, plenty of ammunition draped over his body and in any pockets for easy access. The guns of choice for this venture are two twin 9mm Berettas, one in each hand, and the mere sight of him is probably alarming.

Nobody else is accompanying him which is also kind of scary, but he's completely unaware of anything happening until Mafuyu's hedge clippers go flying and hits him rightfully on the head. There's an exclamation cause that hurt, but also, it startled him more than anything.

He's learned not to just open fire when something like this happens (he nearly shot a girl when he first got here) so he just cries out:) ]</sub>

[ Jake sure found clothes, but it really isn't any better, wow.

But oh crap. She hadn't really meant to go clobbering somebody on the head when she'd let go, and there's no feasible way to run and hide in a forest when every step results in snapping branches and rustling leaves, so. She will play dumb. ]

It's—! It's over there! I saw something run away over there!!

[ She waits until Jake is close enough to just catch sight of her, before she throws an arm out to point somewhere arbitrarily deep into the forest and take off. Sorry Jake, it's a wild goose chase of self-preservation. ]

[ It's fine like this. It's fine. He hums as he walks, accustomed to the darkness, because he doesn't need to see— the scarf is wrapped up all around his head and face, completely blocking out his vision and muffling the sound somewhat too, but he doesn't need to see in order to get around town.

All around him is death. That's what he'd seen, and he's confident that he'll be able to sense anything that's dead and decaying.

What he's not confident is where the heck is he, because he can't sense anybody at all. Maybe because they're not dead. ]

[ the problem with two blindfolded people is that inevitably, due to the Law of Funny Failure, they're doomed to cross paths. And without any real way to avoid a collision, Maya finds herself the victim of just that-- yelping as she smacks into someone, and toppling over most... gracefully.

[ Ryoji just barely manages to keep on his feet when he feels himself walk into something— not a building, or a tree, but he can't tell what it is, because he reaches out and blindly feels the air in front of him and there's nothing?

He chalks it up to whatever, takes another step forward, trips over Maya's legs and goes sprawling, thank you ]

[The bubble touches him and makes Kei walk aback briefly, but this is the second person he's encountered that has something covering his eyes. He can only imagine what the other might be seeing. His first instinct is to call him out.]

m.ii - early in the week

Punishment: All of the girls and women in the Town will be unable to see Keigo. Every single last one. They can hear him, but they can't see him.

[Keigo is just out walking around when the sound of the door talking catches his attention, not that he realizes exactly what is asking the questions at first. By the time it starts to come together, he's also recognized the girl who made him fail the trivia contest at the friendship games, looking really upset about it. He can understand. He's pretty upset about talking houses right now, too.]

When did it start doing that?

[ Hey... they failed together, okay. If he were smarter, he could have read her mind and guessed all those impossible questions- or answer these questions for her instead of being a disembodied voice that makes her nearly jump out of her skin when she hears it. ]

I— what? [ She continues staring at the door, just sort of assuming the voice came from it, too. ]

Is that a new question? Um. Uh! 1985!

[It's strange, waking up that day and realizing exactly what was off about him the entire week, when he didn't notice it before. And so, when Izuku catches his housemate with the scarf-turban around his head, he actually feels curious enough to call out to him.]

Mafuyu continues to block the way to the water, letting her feet kick a little to increase the boundary of her barrier. ]

I just want to know what people are wishing for! I've never had this much power in my life, so I don't want to waste it! Something big like— "I want a magic door to appear so we can all go home!" or "I want dinosaurs to come back!"— you know? Big!!
