WHO: Terezi & Keith
WHERE: Bluo's rivers/harbour
WHEN: backdated to the 19th
WHAT: Terezi recruits Keith to take a boathouse off some sweet jumps
WARNINGS: none yet
[ It's been all of four days and things have been irritatingly quiet. She still can't really make sense of what happened and no one seems to have any answers so she falls on to her old routine of mindlessly browsing the "web" and seeing what her fellow hex code posters are doing. So much better than facing harsh realities.
Fortunately for her and her ennui, Keith doesn't immediately tell her to get lost when she pesters him. It's delightful and she really can't wait to see what will happen in this little experiment.
She stands by the river looking a little out of sorts, especially since she is wearing a shirt two times too big for her. But she grins at him as he approaches. ]
Keith, right? Took you long enough!
[ Delicate and polite. That's her. ]
Are you ready to see some great boating action?

Are you ready to see some great boating action?

His eyebrow rise as he's "greeted"]
Yeah, that's me. And probably. I haven't figured this place out yet.
[He'll get a mental map of it down eventually. But hey for now here he is. A glance out over the river.]
Have you tried even starting these things up? They need fuel, I assume.
[He really hopes they have fuel. He's annoyed and frustrated and honestly driving something around recklessly fast sounds like a very therapeutic experience right now that he would enjoy very much.]

[ She leans over the stone wall to get a look at the steps leading down. Luckily, there is a boathive right there. It would be a bit of a leap, and goddamn that was going to suck with this injury, but all is fair in love and driving things fast. ]
It looks rudimentary, to be honest! Let's get closer. I can probably smell if it has fuel in it.
[ Without waiting for his agreement, she starts clamouring down the steps, careful not to slip. ]

[Keith nods and follows along after. He looks curious at that.] Smell it, huh? Interesting talent.
[But honestly he's hoping there is fuel. He's frustrated and restless and it would make him feel worlds better to just let loose a little at high speed. It's like therapy, really.]

It was a necessary skill to navigate everything when I was blind. But that's history now. Tragically, my eyes work just fine.
[ If there's self loathing wedged into her tone it is disguised by the fact she is now leaning towards the end of the boat. It would be a jump. She backs up and in one fluid movement she leaps on to the boat and disappears behind the rail while letting out an emphatic 'FUCK'. A second or two later she straightens up, brushing off her stolen shirt. ]
Ugh, that was the worst. You next. Because the good news it reeks of some foul smelling fluid, and I think we are in business!

Hang on you were--
[Nope. There she goes. Okay. Well.]
Uh... you okay down there?
[Like. That seemed unfortunate, Terezi. Really damn unfortunate. Keith winces. But he also takes few steps back so he can get a running start and vault himself over and down because you know who never does anything the easy way? This guy.
He lands well at least and looks around.] Great. Let's find the ignition.

Then she is off, limping around a bit in the busiest way possible with a limp. Checking cupboards, built in beds, anything that is not nailed down. Eventually they find their way to what looks like a steering wheel. ]
All right, I'll let you take it from here as boating is not my schtick!

[He is the biggest showoff. It's painfully true. But oh hey exploring the boat thing. He's all in for that. And when they find the helm there's a grin starting on his face that he can't bite back even if he tries. All right..]
Great. But uh... disclaimer. Also not mine. Better at spaceships than real ships, but how hard can it be?
[Famous last words. But Keith starts poking about and somehow finds the ignition and against all odds gets it to turn over, the engine kicking on with a sputtery protest.]
Yes. We're in business. Okay. Hang tight. Gotta untie us.
[He pops back out on deck to disconnect them from the pier and then reappears back inside.] All right. Here goes nothing.
[And the boat lurches into reverse. Step one. Get away from the pier. Which he manages, annoyingly slowly, and there's a scowl of concentration on his face. Then once they're in open water? He floors it, nearly knocking himself back as the boat kicks forward.]

She watches him work and is a little disappointed at the snails pace it initially takes. Then it shoots out into the harbour and she stumbles and has to catch a wall to right herself from the force. She lets out a hideously awful cackle as something in the back dislodges and starts rolling around on the floor. ]
Wow, you did it!
[ She takes a moment to watch the scenery whiz past. It'd probably be more impressive with colour. ]
Is that as fast as it goes?
no subject
This girl is out of her mind. He kind of likes her.]
Not sure... I don't think this was really built for speed. Not really aerodynamic. But let's see if we can get it a little faster.
[He goes for the wheel, sending the boat into a fairly harrowing turn so he can angle them for a good open stretch again, bringing the boat up to speed then pushing the throttle as far as it will go -- which sends the boat zipping (and skipping rather bumpily) along the water.]

She isn't expecting him to jerk the craft around so suddenly, so she stumbles a bit. Seemingly out of thin air she produces a blade stained with purple and sinks it into the floorboards of the boat and uses that to balance herself. She lets out another high shriek of delighted laughter. ]
For no boat skills you are showing up every captain to ever live, Mr. Existential! Do you think it can actually jump?

The suddenly appearing blade definitely catches his attention because it's a little too similar to things he knows very well (and also because honestly, he's pretty sure that's a move he would have pulled in her place as well). But for now he just grins at her laughter.]
It's not that different from piloting I guess.
[As for jumping. Hmm.] If we could get something to run it off, yeah. Can't say how good it'll do on the landing though.

[ The boat seems to lurch a bit as she says it. Seems like fate is daring her to push their limits. She plants her feet firmly on the deck and scans the water until she spots a dark blob fifty meters off. It looks like a rock that is at enough of a twisted angled that the hull could potentially mount off it. Her grin turns wicked and she glancs at him as if asking him to get in on her private joke. ]
Feel like testing that theory?
no subject
[This is a terrible idea, the sort of terrible that might get both of them killed. But no that’s dramatic isn’t it? It’s just a little jump. That’s all. As long as he catches the right angle he won’t just crush the hull on the rock. So as he looks over and sees that grin on his face, his response is to nod once. All right.]
All right. Hold onto something.
