t first, it seems a little too simple for a true test of morals. Don't eat, don't take, don't look? The most basic of requirements. And with guides, it isn't too difficult at all to avoid those obvious pitfalls. At least, until the Town's suddenly far, far too empty, almost eerily so -- until there's nobody there but your fellow reds, or blues or yellows, in a town that is far too big for just a portion of the people there. So you're not home often? I can understand. I haven't been home in a long time as well.

It's sad to hear you didn't have the time. You don't strike me as more than ordinary boy, but I guess everyone must lead busy lives.

I can understand. [ there were plenty of times she wishes to be ordinary. life doesn't always work out that way. ] But that must be different here, at least a little. Away from our lives, from the duties we burdened.

Sometimes I wonder if you can ever really get away from that stuff...but yeah. It's a little removed.

Not entirely, no. We carry them in our lives every day. They shape us, and inform us. [ she continues to twist the cube, getting a little frustrated with how it isn't really going anywhere. ] You can't outgrow yourself. You simply carry on.

Would you ever try if you could?

...Absolutely. But I was not meant for such things unfortunately.

[ she smiles, and then she realizes that she managed to get the cube to one solid green on a single side. but... her smile quickly deflates when she realizes that the other sides are still mixed up. ]

I have to say I'm very impressed with the scholar who made this cube! I'm very frustrated by it already.

Haha, right? I mean, it can be a pain but it's like...it's a thing to keep your hands busy, I guess. Sometimes when you can't sleep you can grab it and work on a little more, and then a little more, and then when you do finally manage to get it perfect it's like holy shit, accomplishment central!

By the sound of it, you've been in that position yourself before! [ said with a light touch, as she stops fiddling with the cube and instead gives it a good toss in her hand. ] You wouldn't mind if I keep this, would you? It could help keep my mind off things.

Nah, of course not. I mean, I can't touch it without failing whatever the hell this is, sooo...Someone ought to use it, you know?

Splendid. I'll do my best to solve it then! Though it will give me quite a bit of trouble, I think trouble is what I need right now.
