ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. Oh, and to make things even better, it's raining today. Water from below (though thankfully only like, knee-deep), and water from above... how fun.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's second intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. New characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Thankfully, they have some friends on the outside, this time.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

[ The moment Mafuyu's feet touch the ground she gets on her knees and then flat on her stomach with her arms outstretched as if she intends to become one with the ground and never leave again.

At least she stopped screaming to catch her breath. For about two seconds before she lifts her head up and stares at Kaoru. ]

We were flying!!

[ Yes we were! That warrants screaming. ]

We were.

[She's just...watching. You're not going to throw up, are you?

Is she laughing? Maybe just a little.]

Sorry, I guess I should have given you more warning but I thought it'd be better to get you out of the cold first.

[ She's not quite at the point of throwing up, but she would definitely appreciate a warning next time, or otherwise keeping her feet firmly on the ground for the rest of her life. ]

Nah, it's okay, I was just surprised, I guess. Freaked out? I was really freaked out!

Everyone here seems to be so used to magic and people with powers that I got carried away.

[She claps her hands together in a gesture of apology and smiled with a wink.]

I'll make it up to you, okay?

Wait- no, never mind that! Other people can do stuff like this? Everybody can do magic— flying and pulling rabbits out of hats and everything?!

Well, my power's not magic, but there are a lot of people who can use magic! There's even some people who are studying to be heroes in their world!

But I've also met some people without any powers.

You don't need magic and stuff to be superheroes.

[ A lot... Mafuyu looks to the horizon, as if expecting flashes of light and loud bangs all around the town, but everything's so shoddy and run down and the exact opposite of what she thinks of when she imagines magic and powers. ]

Is that what most people are like? Flying and stuff.

I think the superheroes without powers usually have money, right?

[Mafuyu, just because a lot of people have powers doesn't mean they'll all be using it right now...]

I don't think people use their powers except when they need to. [...well, Kaoru does float around people she likes who know she's a psychokinetic but that's more like a dumb habit than anything else.]

I think there are only a few of us who can fly though.

[ Mafuyu shakes her head dismissively, because she's not talking about superheroes from movies and comic books, she's talking about your everyday hero who stops thugs on the street and wears a cute rabbit mask.

Maybe the hero she has in mind is too specific to be generalizable. ]

Superheroes just have to be strong and help people, you don't need money or any of that to be a hero. Are you one? Going around flying people out of wells.

I guess?

[She's scratching idly at her cheek.]

I've never thought of myself that way, but to some people I guess that's what my job is like. [Though personally she doesn't really believe in heroes.]

Then, Miss Superhero, wanna do something for me?

You can just call me Kaoru.

[It's not that she doesn't want to be called a superhero, but like..there are actual people who are studying to become heroes and it she just felt like it'd be weird since she's friends with so many of them.]

And that depends on what you're going to ask for.

Heh... My best friend's name is Kaoru.

[ The thought makes her laugh, but it also makes her deeply homesick, so she presses forward with her request. ]

Can you fly me to the nearest train station? I gotta go back home, I got stuff to do.

[How can this girl possibly claim to not be cute?]

I'm sorry. [And there's no more joking or teasing in her expression: she looks not just genuinely apologetic but sad as well.] We haven't figured out a way to get back yet. We're all stuck here until further notice.

[ I misremembered and his name is actually Kaori...... close enough ]

No way...! It doesn't have to be all the way home— just the train station! A bus station! P- [ ugh, no, she hates having to rely on them, but in this situation... ] If it comes to it, even the police station!

[Close enough! It's practically the same name.

Also why did you hesitate on that word, Mafuyu?]

There's nothing like that here. We seem to have ended up in an entirely different world.

No, it can't be that. There's a reason for everything, right? Like some super elaborate joke... Deserted island? Air pollution? I think pollution turns the sky weird colors.

...what sort of air pollution changes the world this much?

It really isn't a joke. This is a different world. I don't know how we got here but everyone here's from different places.
