Intro Log.

It's raining, it's pouring. The old man is snoring. He bumped his head and went to bed And he couldn't get up in the morning.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light. It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb. The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. Oh, and to make things even better, it's raining today. Water from below (though thankfully only like, knee-deep), and water from above... how fun. But most importantly of all... you're not alone. Welcome to Awash's second intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. New characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Thankfully, they have some friends on the outside, this time. Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways. Please feel free to ask any questions here and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

[He told her to keep them dry— ahh, damn it. The rope is completely out of the well after he's just helped another person, and so he shoves it at her and grabs the towels from her head, holding them close to himself, trying to test if any of them are even a little dry.

He doesn't even want to criticize her on this when he could hear her trying so hard. At least people came.]

Take that rope and tie it to something stable so it's easier for you to help people up. I don't want to risk people falling back in.

[ How was she supposed to keep them dry?? There's no way. Maybe some of the ones sandwiched in the middle or closer to the bottom of the pile are more salvageable, but they're all various degrees of damp to dripping wet.

Mafuyu tries, but she sure is bad at listening, because she holds onto that rope, winds it twice around her wrist, and just stands there as the next person starts climbing up, unaware of the change in personnel. ]

I found plenty of houses that are empty— I left the doors open so people can go there and drip dry! You're right though; there's barely any food anyways.

[ Is that why she took so long ]

[Mafuyu... And now he has to stay close in case her grip slips like he's worried it might. If she can really support the weight of people larger than her climbing up, then he won't interfere, but...]

That will have to do. [He's tossing the soaked towels to the side like little welcome mats, but passing out the semi-dry ones now, apologizing that they're not much as he goes.]

What's your name?

[buncho]

[ Surprisingly for her size, Mafuyu's hands don't even shake with the weight of a person or two on the other end of her rope, even going as far as to take a step or two away from the well in trying to follow Guren around as he tends to drying people off, forgetting that's she's semi-anchored in place. ]

Am I in trouble?

[ Nobody asks for her name unless it's to mark her down on her school records or something; she's not falling for that trap. ]

Why would I waste time asking for your name? I'd just yell at you.

[Simple things??] No. This town is a team; we all work together. I'm Guren Ichinose. Your turn.

[buncho]

Oh. That's kinda like my mom.

[ Throw knives first, ask questions later. ]

Mafuyu Kurosaki! You're part of the police, then, Ichinose?

[ Because if yes, she will be backing off towards the well, sorry to whoever's hanging on the rope and will be slowly descending. ]

[swordfucker]

Not the police.

[If she does back off, he's going to reach over and grab that rope with a stern stare!!] I lead the defense force here. I started it up myself. It's just for those who want to help keep everyone safe.

[buncho]

[ It's a good thing he grabs it before she turns tail and jumps back down the well herself, because from the look on her face, she really doesn't like the police. ]

That's exactly what the police is. That's the same thing.

[swordfucker]

It's not the same thing. There are no laws, no jail. What are you afraid of?

[Is she a troublemaker. Should he be worried?? But he stole a motorcycle when he was her age and that was probably the softest illegal thing he did. So. He's got this rope, pulling up the poor person on the other side.]

[buncho]

Oh. There's no laws or jails. You have no power, then.

[ Never mind, there's no fear anymore. Her mom's not here! There's no jail to be thrown into! She can do whatever she wants!! ]

[swordfucker]

That means there's no laws against me kicking your ass if you give me trouble, either.

[He'll DO IT, don't be difficult]

[buncho]

[ Mafuyu just laughs at the threat, clearly alright with that too. ]

This place is lawless! That's great! It's like back home with all the gang wars— are there gang wars? Who's the one in charge of this place?

[swordfucker]

I am. [No he's not, but this is close enough.] And if you talk about gang wars again, I'll make a prison.

[buncho]

You can't just ban words like that! That's not how you lead a ga— ...group!

[swordfucker]

I can lead however I want.

[He does definitely stare harder when she almost says gang, like he wants to scare her more.]

There aren't laws, but there are rules. We all get along here. That's how things have to work if we want to stand a chance at getting out of here. Don't get in the way of that. Make friends, spend time together and have fun, but I want everyone safe. That's all.

[buncho]

[ Leading however you want doesn't make a good leader, Mafuyu thinks, but she can't argue the law of the land: the strongest person takes charge and makes the rules, and in her limited world experience, that's how it is and that's how it will always be.

She has no interest in running a town, though, and doesn't want to make the same mistake as she did in the past where she grabbed the position just because she could. ]

You make it sound so simple. Making friends is hard, you know? And there's no way everybody can get along all the time! Everywhere I've been, there's always fighting everywhere-- you just don't know, 'cause they hide it from the police.

[swordfucker]

It's hard, but not in a situation like this. We're all stuck here together, and we need each other's help to find a way out.

[He helps yet another person out of the well.] You may not get along with everyone, but you have to put some things aside for the sake of everyone's lives.

I'm not saying that everyone who comes out of this well is going to be a good person, either. But if the majority of us can work together, that's all we need.

[buncho]

...Sounds reasonable.

[ Damn it, she hates that it sounds reasonable. ]

It's not like I'm going out making trouble or whatever, okay? Just saying. [ If it happens (and it will), then it happens, but she's always been the person to jump into trouble she sees rather than causing it in the first place, so at the very very least, she wants Guren to not feel like he needs to keep an eye on her, because that would be such a pain to deal with. ]

[swordfucker]

Only troublemakers have to say things like that.

[It's too late for Mafuyu— he's going to be keeping an eye on her regardless. But luckily for her, he's such a busy man, keeping an eye on everyone, that it won't be like 24/7 surveillance.]

[buncho]

Don't be ridiculous! I'm a normal, law-abiding citizen!

[ Haha... ha. Come on, Guren. ]

I helped you and everything, right? Isn't that like proving my innocence and stuff?

[swordfucker]

Not at all. You made yourself look more guilty.

[Like, he is now a law abiding citizen at all, but now he knows that if he says it's fine, she's going to leap into the air and talk about gang wars. So!!] And you almost dropped someone down the well while calling me a cop.

[buncho]

[ Middle school gang wars are just kids punching kids! with nail bats... ]

I did not! I didn't let go of the rope, and I wouldn't have let them fall! I told you I'm strong enough!

[swordfucker]

You were distracted. You let them slip.

[None of these gang wars, none of these excuses, he's taking none of anything!]

[buncho]

And who's the one distracting me, huh?! Maybe if you stop looking like a cop!

[swordfucker]

[There's no verbal response to that, just a flat and serious look shot her way.]
