ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. Oh, and to make things even better, it's raining today. Water from below (though thankfully only like, knee-deep), and water from above... how fun.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's second intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. New characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Thankfully, they have some friends on the outside, this time.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

It's the ocean! All there is is water! And there's fish everywhere too— we'll just... have to hack off the extra arms or whatever.

You...can't drink salt water. At least it's not the kind of water you need to live?

Drinking salt water kind of dehydrates you. And can lead to death by dehydration?

But there's water... How does that even work?

[ This sounds like something she was supposed to have learned in school, but didn't because she was too busy drawing rabbits in her notebook or something. ]

Your body can only handle so much salt at once. And it basically overloads it like that and you need more fresh water to fix it.

Hmm... How 'bout this? Don't drink any sea water until you're really really thirsty, and then only a little bit only when you need to? That way, you won't overload!

That would still make you thirsty for actual water.

anyway she's portioning out the stew now. go sit at the table properly, monkey child ]

[ Says somebody with the luxury of clean water 24/7. But never mind arguing how they're going to die out at sea; the strew is done and Mafuyu follows it all the way to the table, plopping down on her seat with an ] itadakimaaaasu!

Trust me. They absolutely do.

I guess I should practice catching birds... Do you know how to cook geese? There's a bunch of people out catching geese, but I dunno if they're cooking them or keeping them or just letting them go again so somebody else can catch them.

[ No pair of people can eat a dozen geese at once before the meat spoils, so it's probably the last option, making the entire quest sort of a waste of time, but prizes are to be won, so nobody's complaining. ]

Yeah, I do know how. If you bring me goose, I'll cook it for you.

[ Mafuyu will be taking some of the geese she and Dave eventually round up, then. In that one thread that I lost the notif for... hops back over there. ]

Then I'll bring 'em all here! Do you have extra room for them? Are you living with other people here?

Two others, who I guess I can cook for sometimes? But I didn't make plans to do so. I do have the room, though. I can kill them, too.

Is that often...? You can go to the grocery store and get steamed buns instead of killing things!

[ The only things Mafuyu's ever killed were bugs, but that was also done with a lot of nonstop screaming. ]

It's only when I'm camping. Or...here, I guess. They don't seem to have a grocery store.

How do people live without grocery stores?

[ There aren't any vending machines around here either, according to Dave. Mafuyu had always thought her greatest concern for not being able to feed herself is not having the money to buy meals, but she's never accounted for the situation where she has pocket money, and nowhere to spend it. ]

Hey, can I like... eat here all the time and I do stuff for you in return? I don't know anybody else that can cook!
