It's raining, it's pouring. The old man is snoring. He bumped his head and went to bed And he couldn't get up in the morning.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light. It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb. The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. Oh, and to make things even better, it's raining today. Water from below (though thankfully only like, knee-deep), and water from above... how fun. But most importantly of all... you're not alone. Welcome to Awash's second intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. New characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Thankfully, they have some friends on the outside, this time. Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways. Please feel free to ask any questions here and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

We tried to map the forest, but it ended badly. The layout inside changes, so it's not possible to know how big it is, or what all is inside.

[ Their response is blunt and quick, watching as the other smiles bitterly. A weird expression to make at a time like this, but they decide not to comment on it. ]

What species are you, anyway? You don't look that different from a human.

[ At least to them, pointy teeth and red eyes aren't enough to signify a change in species. ]

If it changes then what's inside might change as well. The question is how?

[Unless someone knew him, the smile does seem out of place on him. It remains there after being asked what he is.]

A vampire. A creature who feeds on the blood of humans.

[Perhaps his appearance isn't unusual in some places but it's a very clear sign in his world.]

[ Their brows raise a little bit, since they weren't expecting that. ]

So you are a natural predator of humans.

[ For some reason they'd been under the impression humans didn't have any predators... it was normal to think about that stuff when it came to tiny animals but thinking about humans getting eaten seems. A bit disturbing. ]

That's interesting. I didn't know humans were prey animals.

["Natural", sure. Though in Japan it's less like a hunt and more like a farm where they raise livestock. Not that Mika considers them livestock but he does feed on them. Usually from willing humans.

He laughs bitterly.]

Humans like to think they're at the top - that nothing exists to hunt and feed on them. That there's nothing stronger, faster and more deadly then them.

Really? That's surprising. Aside from their freakish powers, they are quite weak.

[ They're so soft and they die so quickly. The ones without powers especially struck them as being very weak aside from their intellectual capabilities, so they're wondering about just how more powerful vampires are than humans. ]

Though I guess your powers are even worse than theirs, right. So you can eat them...

There were plenty that didn't have any sort of freakish powers. Perhaps it's because the idea of something coming for them is frightening so they deny it.

[They die so easily. Mika's witnessed that for himself. If asked, he could answer just how more powerful vampires are in comparison to humans.]

Yes, they are. [He doesn't sound happy about it.] I'm not even the strongest of my kind.

Hm. [ They give a little hum of affirmation at his response. ] I'm like that. Not among the strongest of my kind, but stronger than the regular ability-less human.

[ Must suck being mortal... they can't relate. ]

Either way, I'd say if you have questions about this place that you could ask me, but I'll be upfront and say that almost no one knows what's going on here.
