Intro Log.

It's raining, it's pouring.
The old man is snoring.
He bumped his head and went to bed
And he couldn't get up in the morning.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. Oh, and to make things even better, it's raining today. Water from below (though thankfully only like, knee-deep), and water from above... how fun.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's second intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. New characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Thankfully, they have some friends on the outside, this time.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

sounds less like an interrogation and more like confrontation, but I like your style probably not. usually quests are really vague but if you screw them up things get pretty bad. where'd you find your laptop? that might be easier oh. i think i saw something about wishes. do you have any wishes? that one just says two of any color so it won't matter which one you are

[Look he's tired, failing a quest right off the bat isn't something he looks forward to. Plus he'd never hear the end of it, probably.]

its the same thing. if they dont want to get punched, then theyll fess up quick
you make quests sound like something serious but it looks like its just for fun
like this- what if i wish for you to give me your shoes?

where I'm from quests are kind of a really big deal I'm not sure my shoes would even fit you, but I'd also be out of a pair of shoes and that sucks

I think I'd call them more like a "wherever me and my friends happen to be" thing seriously you don't have a different wish?

it's an easy thing but when was the last time you walked around a weird place barefoot?

first you give me your shoes and then you go
"my wish is that you give me my shoes back"
and then i give them back and it all works out
if youre real serious about this quest thing then all you gotta do is make it work for you

huh yeah okay that could work it'll count as a wish for both of us so that's double the rewards too but most of my quests aren't that easy where are you at? I can meet you wherever and we can see what happens

[Is he really venturing off to go trade his shoes for a quest? Yes. Yes he is. It means he'll get to the well and he'll be waiting there until Mafuyu decides to show up.]

[ Mafuyu is there, eventually, and would have been there sooner if she didn't keep getting turned around by all these houses that look the same when they're all the same color.

When she sees Percy, she lifts her hand in greeting, doesn't know his name and never gave her name, so- ]

Hey! Shoes?

[Names are for chumps maybe and Percy does absolutely nothing to give his even when he lifts a hand in a return greeting.]

Hey. You must be the Wisher. [He's leaning against the well, blue hoodie on and arms folded over his chest in a relaxed sort of stance. The weather isn't bothersome and his shoes, as she can see, are some beat-up sneakers but the toe of his right shoe is kicking at the heel of his left.] So how do you think this works? You just take my shoes and once that wish is granted we reverse it with my wish?

[ The Wisher sounds like a much cooler titles and what'll become Percy's unfortunate moniker of Shoes, so she'll take it, hopping up to sit at the edge of the well and extending her foot out next to his. He's way taller than her, so there's no way she'll be able to wear his shoes without stepping out of them without the laces as tight as possible. ]

I want to know how this prize thing works, if we can meet the guy who doles them out. So gimme your shoes, and then we wait for him to show up, otherwise if I give them back too see, it looks like we didn't do anything.

[He's probably had way worse nicknames than Shoes tbh. He's roughly six feet tall with an appropriate footsize and aware that Mafuyu's most likely going to lose his shoes if she tries to take off with them. His shoes aren't like his sword. If he loses them, that's pretty much it.]

How long do you think we should wait for this guy to show up? [Percy's not holding his breath that someone will show up, but he would like to see what kind of rewards they're dealing with. It's why he's actually kicking off his sneakers and handing them over to Mafuyu as they dangle by the laces.]

[ What are you doing to earn sucky nicknames, Percy!! Mafuyu is a whole foot shorter than him, but that doesn't stop her from stepping out of her shoes and putting his on. They're like slippers on her feet: super roomy. Baggy is how she wears a lot of her clothes, but maybe not this one... it'll be fine, though, just sitting here and waiting for the Mysterious Mr. White to show up. ]

I dunno. I'd give him a day, tops. Maybe he's like Santa and only shows up when we're not sleeping— we could lay a trap and ambush him then.

[Exist. His whole existence sure is something. But he watches her put on his shoes and wiggles his toes inside his socks for the time being. He'd be a little more aggravated if they stood a chance of getting wet but instead his focus is on Mr. White.]

First of all, Santa only shows up when we're sleeping, but also what kind of trap are you thinking? [Dear god no. Maybe he shouldn't encourage her, and yet.] I'm not sure I want to stand around for a day waiting for this guy but a trap could work.

[ Mall Santas beg to differ, because otherwise how are they supposed to know what people want without being told directly? The same with Mr. White— ]

He's got to find us, right? [ Mafuyu taps her finger against the stone mouth of the well. ] We wait in here, and when he shows up to give us the goods, that's when we'll strike. The opening is real small, so it'll be easy to guard and everything.

[...huh.] The well's pretty deep though. What are you planning to do about that?

[Is he just humoring her? Yeah, probably, but he's made up some pretty dumb plans before so he has zero room to judge.]

You're worried about falling? I'll jump down first, and then I'll catch you.

[ Deep wells are not a problem if you refuse to think of them as one. ]

And what's going to stop you from breaking everything on the way down? [MAFUYU...SERIOUSLY.] Also I'm not worried about me falling. I've fallen from places a lot higher than this.

Hey, don't underestimate me! It's a straight fall down; I'm not going to break the well!

[ Absolutely nothing is going to stop her from breaking all her bones except maybe the water if it's high enough, but also everything = the well, Mafuyu has never given any consideration to her own safety in her life. ]

As much as I'm concerned about the well, I kind of meant you. Most people wouldn't survive that kind of drop without some serious damage.

There's water down there. It's not like I'm falling onto the ground.

[ She leans over the well and peers inside. It doesn't look that deep, but she also can't see the bottom and can't remember how far she had to climb to get out of there.

There's no point in ruminating!!! She goes ahead and swings her legs around so that they dangle over the edge. Pauses. Kicks off Percy's shoes and waits to hear a splash.

You don't think that cancels out the wish, do you? [But more importantly WHY IS HIS SHOE NOW GONE...]
