Intro Log.
![]() | |
The old man is snoring. He bumped his head and went to bed And he couldn't get up in the morning. | |
Welcome to Awash's second intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. New characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Thankfully, they have some friends on the outside, this time. |

Getting turned back... That's why his stint in the water at the south end went so poorly. It at least confirms Izuku isn't bullshitting him. Feeling the tight, cold clench of the water, something that shouldn't have been so bad in the Robin suit at all. Shouldn't have been so bad for him, someone trained. He hadn't been wrong then; they haven't found a way back.]
So this is a pocket dimension without exit chutes, or chutes that have been rerouted to return to this dimension.
[His best guess for now.]

At this point, some of us think that all of us getting pulled here wasn't an accident. There's someone behind it.
no subject
It doesn't have to be a someone. It can be a something. Worlds can be sentient, too. Ygarddis was a world eater. It could control the planets it consumed as it pleased.
no subject
What I meant was...aside from what the world itself is doing, I think there's someone else involved, but I haven't decided if they're working with or against this place yet.
no subject
Why do you think there's someone else? Have you seen them?
no subject
We're assigned to our houses. There's a laptop for each of us in the houses, with our names already filled out and our usernames picked out for us. Then, there's this one user on the forum that seems to know what's going on, but refuses to do anything but posting these "quests" for us to work on every so often.
The forest, the water...I could believe it's the work of a sentient world, but if there's technology involved, then it's probably someone else, right? [He pauses, looking uncertainly at Damian for a second.] Unless...the Ygarddis thing you mentioned was capable of something like this, too?
no subject
I don't know. [He hates saying that out loud. It makes it sound as if he didn't know what was going on.] I don't think so. The planet we were on that it had consumed was mostly primitive. It's possible Ygarddis could control technology if he had consumed one containing it.
You said there's a forum? That implies Internet access. That means there's a network--it has to be connected to something else somewhere. Especially if someone anonymous is accessing it.
[Sorry for his turbo. He's a planner, always planning. None of this matters for the mean time, not when he's gonna have to get settled. But still. He can talk it over at least.]
Do you know their handle?
no subject
Oh, it's #FFFFFF. I can show you on my laptop, if you want. Since you haven't found yours yet.
no subject
...White? [Odd. Or maybe not so odd.] What's your handle? [A pause. Even better, he gets to play with the computer.] Show me.
no subject
[Izuku pops into his room to get the device and turns it on. He'll even pull up a chair for Damian to use while he's at it.]
Here's their quest post. [Izuku pulls it up on the screen.] It's stickied, so they must be a moderator of some kind. No one else has that kind of access on the forum. There's no way to private message them either.
no subject
For a moment, while Izuku leaves for the computer, Damian stands there still half wet, wondering over the puzzles of the town. His head lifts when Izuku returns, and he quickly moves over to see, even sitting. The towel? Around the back of his neck. Amazing. He sorta "used" it.] Quest post?
[The answer comes when he reads the page. It reminds him of the Riddler, even if the "quests" are mostly straight-forward. Requirements? Colors. He points at it.] I thought an effect of the interdimensional jump was color blindness, but that's false--unless it's collective color blindness.
Everything is grayscale. And everyone has colors--hexadecimal colors. [His eyes jump back and forth over the screen behind the mask. He's quiet for a stretch of time because he's working out the red, green, blue hex of some people's handles in his head.] ...There's only three, minus the white. Red, blue, yellow. Primary colors.
[A pause.]
Have you seen a black? #000000. On the forum.
no subject
[Izuku shakes his head.] I haven't seen anyone with that code yet. Everyone starts with black as their default font color, though.
no subject
That means the requirements are the colors. One yellow. One red, one blue. When you complete these "quests," are you rewarded with simply colors for the town?
no subject
Anyway, you get an immediate kind of reward once you've completed a quest. They've been really random so far, so you won't know what you'll get until you complete it. The color changes, though... they usually coincide with the new quests being posted. I think it just takes time for the colors to show up again.
no subject
Give it to me. I'll see what I can do. I still don't believe there isn't a connection somewhere. Whatever the case, I can try to make something--or maybe replicate what's already there as an experiment.
no subject
How good are you at computers? Do you think you can hack into the network?
[Shamelessly, Izuku leeeeeeans in watch whatever Damian's doing, buzzing with curiosity.]
no subject
Frustrated, he pulls up the word document and begins typing in strings of lines of what seem like gibberish, but there's enough brackets and symbols to make it code. After saving it, he doubles back to open it. The screen blinks momentarily, almost like it wants to activate some kind of command panel, but then nothing happens.
He's left with the same thing he started with: two programs and a forum.]
It's not connected to any outside system. Not that I can tell. It could be run through a local network. There's nothing I can get in to check.
no subject
So the code you wrote didn't work...
[He didn't understand anything that Damian had typed into the word processor, but it's easy enough to guess what he was trying to do, given the context. Then, Izuku points at the screen, at the quest post itself.]
What about #FFFFFF? Do you think you could get a read on them?
no subject
It worked, dammit, just not here. It wasn't wrong.] If they even exist.
[He tries a few of the same things he tried before, this time focused on the handle. Messaging the account yields the typical, User Does Not Exist, and he gives up on that avenue. The most troubling thing is whenever he tries to latch onto any digital footprint, the handle doesn't seem to exist for any user at all. It confirms the other error, despite how strange that is.
If his frown could turn down enough to touch his chin, it would.] They could be using a proxy.
no subject
Or they could be using magic. That seems to be the case with this place. [Izuku leans forward, letting his chin rest in his hand.] The laptops are magic of some kind, too. They're not plugged in, but they never run out of power as long as you stay within the general town area. Considering the town doesn't have any kind of electricity, the laptops stand out a lot.
no subject
That still means there's technology here, and it makes him feel... secure. He's not dealing with stupid magical bullshit.] There has to be other ways.
no subject
[For all his smiling earlier, Izuku's definitely serious about this.]
no subject
Again, Damian looks back at the laptop.] Keep track of anything different or out of the ordinary you notice. Especially if it's changed since you've arrived.
For now, we'll worry about the "quests," and the ultimate goal that seems to be given: restoring the color. Until we can do more experiments with the forum and this "White."
no subject
As far as I know, it doesn't matter how many times a quest is completed, you'll still get the reward. You should check the current ones and see if there's any you want to work on.
no subject
[He hands the laptop back to Izuku, and then he stands.] I need to find my own. I might be able to do more with it than with the one linked to you.
