Intro Log.

It's raining, it's pouring.
The old man is snoring.
He bumped his head and went to bed
And he couldn't get up in the morning.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. Oh, and to make things even better, it's raining today. Water from below (though thankfully only like, knee-deep), and water from above... how fun.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's second intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. New characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Thankfully, they have some friends on the outside, this time.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

Please feel free to ask any questions here and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

[ annabeth pauses, anyway, and the words are so polite she doesn't take exception to the shoulder tap... ]

I don't mind answering any, but I don't know how we got here either. If that's what you were going to lead with?

It would have certainly been one question to ask. [ she smiles lightly. ] But that's ok, as I have others. But my leading question is for your name - I am Zelda.
athenite: (PLEASED ► okay you can stay)

[personal profile] athenite 2018-05-17 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm Annabeth. Nice to meet you, Zelda. [ wasn't that the name of someone's wife...? ]

What a lovely name. [ she bows her head once and then goes on. ] Since you and I are new here, I'd like to know where you come from? Would you say it's anything similar to our surroundings at the moment - hopefully there it at least color where you're from.

I'm from California, originally. It...this looks a little older than what I'm used to. More...rustic? But yeah, there's absolutely color back home. What about you?

California. I've never heard of that country before, but I like it's name. I come from Hyrule, and... it's vibrant. Beautifully so. [ her voice turns wistful for a moment, but then quickly she bounces back. ] And I could easily imagine a town looking like this as part of it, tucked away near the sea. Is California more modern?
athenite: (DISTRACTED ► lost in thought)

It's a state in a country - I'm from the United States of America, country-wise. But yeah, California has a lot of cities. It's actually a coastal state, so there's the sea - lots of beaches. But lots of mountains and stuff, too. It's pretty big and there are lots of different parts.

[ ah a state... she doesn't know what is exactly, but she likens it to domain in her mind, no different than how the different races of hyrule had land areas marked as their own. ]

It sounds like a large 'state', and quite beautiful. I'm sorry you were taken away from it.

It's all right. I'm pretty used to being whisked away...and anyway, my best friend is around here somewhere.

You must live a life of adventure and peril to be used to it then. I know the feeling. [ and it's not a great one, so she smiles with sympathy. ] It's nice to have a friend here though. You're fortunate in that regards. The Gods and Goddesses smile upon you.

Not all of them. But a few have been known to like me. Sometimes.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that they care at all. [ as she once struggled, so very long ago, to hold faith. ] You sound as though you have a relationship to them.
athenite: (ASIDE ► discuss seriously)

[personal profile] athenite 2018-05-22 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose I've had a more religious life than most?

[ that's. sure one way of putting it... ]

Though that won't help if we don't learn more about this place.

I know the feeling quite well. [ prayer was all she did some days, for long stretches of time. ] But you shouldn't say that. They are always watching over us, even when we cannot see. We must keep faith as we learn more and find a way to restore this land to its glory.

[ no sometimes the gods are dicks zelda you don't get it!! ]

Well, it seems like some of the color is around, anyway. So logically there should be a way to get it all back.
