Intro Log.

It's raining, it's pouring.
The old man is snoring.
He bumped his head and went to bed
And he couldn't get up in the morning.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. Oh, and to make things even better, it's raining today. Water from below (though thankfully only like, knee-deep), and water from above... how fun.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's second intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. New characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Thankfully, they have some friends on the outside, this time.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

Please feel free to ask any questions here and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

It is in fact entirely a master plan for running water and flushable toilets. I mean, it wouldn't be easy, but if being stuck here is apparently the status quo for the moment I think it would be worthwhile.

[ besides, she may or may not have someone who can control water who she can boss around into helping out.

that makes it slightly easier, maybe. ]

Hey, I know I for one would give somebody's left arm for a bathtub that you don't have to fill by hand with a bucket.

[Wait for it.]

I mean, not my left arm, I'm using that. But somebody's, definitely.

[ annabeth just laughs. it's the sort of humor that she can get behind, okay? and honestly giving other people's arms is maybe smarter. ]

I'll see what plans seem most feasible, anyway. It may be easiest to focus on making a bathhouse or something with running water rather than reworking every building in the town?

True, but also: communal bathrooms are horrifying.

[She's been to college, okay. She Knows™. She's Seen Some Shit™.]

Plus you'd need some kind of purification...something or other, right? Boil it first or add in, like...what is it. Iodine? Chlorine?

Sort of. I mean, if we go back to roman-style bathhouses...we ought to have what we need for those. I don't think we can expect modern magic here, but there are things we can do to at least make it less of a pain in the ass to get clean. I don't really enjoy the idea of hauling water to a house and heating it?
whichcraft: that's kind of bullshit but i believe it (LISTEN ♚ like watching paint dry)

[personal profile] whichcraft 2018-05-17 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that'd take a ton of effort just to fill a tub, plus then you'd have to boil it all and wait until it cooled down enough that you weren't going to roast in it. And boiling it would mean some of it would evaporate off anyway.
athenite: (GLARE ► so anyway)

Ugh. I guess for now I can make Percy haul the water, but probably that's frowned on or something.

...Making guys do the physical labor is frowned upon around here? Boy, there goes my great plans for civil engineering, the whole foundational premise it rests on is just gone.

I mean, I typically ignored the "frowned on" part, but I've maybe voluntold my boyfriend for like, fifteen things already. I can wait until tomorrow to start the next set of orders.

Ahhh, the quota system. Very nice. The industry standard is what, fifteen a day for the first two months and then five more per day each month from there on out?
athenite: (WELL ► that isn't so bad)

?????? DW GIVE ME MY NOTIFS.

[personal profile] athenite 2018-05-20 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no. It's been well over a year, so fifteen a day is standard for the rest of our lives.

[ why does percy........date her. the girl who grounds him..........

like literally, not romantically oh you keep me ~grounded~. she literally grounds him from doing shit because he has to focus on his homework. ]
