Intro Log.

It's raining, it's pouring.
The old man is snoring.
He bumped his head and went to bed
And he couldn't get up in the morning.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. Oh, and to make things even better, it's raining today. Water from below (though thankfully only like, knee-deep), and water from above... how fun.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's second intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. New characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Thankfully, they have some friends on the outside, this time.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

... You might be onto something there. If the color only started coming back after you arrived... then it stands to reason that either by interacting or meeting some form of "condition", it's got to do something with the people here.

I think so. We also are all assigned colors, so... it seems like the most logical conclusion.

[ Maya pauses to consider something, then nods decisively. ]

Maybe so, but only about 90% of that. I got to meet someone new, after all.

But thanks... I didn't think things back home were entirely resolved, but I guess whatever brought me here figured it was good enough.

Ah... yeah, whatever brought us here doesn't seem to care if everyone had unfinished business or not. Everyone's definitely still trying to find a way back home more than anything.

I'd imagine! If nothing else, I can probably leave the rest to Phi-- well, the others. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who was brought here.

[ after a boss fight. Looking like she'll probably need a nap and several bandaids later.

I got into a little bit of a fight right before I came here, actually.

[ "a little bit". ]

What... kind of fight?

Are you injured at all?

[ ... smiiile. ]

Just a little! I kind of got pulled here before I could have my Persona do another healing round at the end, and then I got distracted, but it's really not that bad.

[ read: Maya has no SP right now. ]

[...A slow blink.

And then, quietly, he nods.]

I see... do you want me to? I can heal you up, if you need it.

[If she's going to candidly bring up her Persona, then he will too!]

[ that's the spirit, Minato! ]

Ah... like I said, it's not that bad. Don't feel like you have to.

[Maya...]

If you know I have a Persona, then you know it's not a big deal to cast a healing spell...

[Maya pls.]

I don't know what you've been through before I got here!

[ but she laughs, holding out her hands in an "I surrender" gesture. ]

But I'm done fussing, if that's not the case. Go ahead.

[He reaches under his blazer and...pauses.

[... Sigh.]

I'm going to do something that looks very questionable, and is probably not how you summon your Persona, but I'm not going to be hurt, so please just bear with it for a moment.

... [ Questionable? Maya already looks a little disconcerted from the warning, but there's no point in asking about it now. Whatever it is, it isn't going to hurt him??

Odd. ]

[ surely he won't actually be firing away!! ]

[AND THEN HE FIRES AWAY--

Yeah, literally.

He lifts the Evoker from under his blazer, lifts it to his temple, and fires.

Nice.

Messiah's able to cast Salvation, at least, before fading away, but also, like. Sorry, Maya.]

[ Oh. That just happened. And any other time, perhaps if she had been accustomed to the method of summoning - and what the hell, Philemon - she would have paid more attention to that unfamiliar Persona or taken note of the healing spell, but even Maya Amano can't smile when a kid shoots himself in the head. ]

[ Really, the only thing that prevented her from flat-out tackling him in horror was the fact that he had warned her. He'd said it was questionable. He'd said it wouldn't hurt. He's clearly fine. ]

[ He's fine. He's not Eikichi with a gun pressed to his head, or a girl much too young yelling about being dead, or--

Why? Why would there be a Persona user who had to summon like this? Why was summoning another part of you akin to the act of killing yourself? What the hell, Philemon?

But Maya says none of this, because Maya is too busy faintly shaking where she stands. And, well. Crying. ]

[... Oh.

Oh... no. She's...crying? He expected the surprise (is getting used to the horror), but the tears.... Minato shuffles uncertainly, shoving the Evoker away into his holster (he'd come to terms with it before, but seeing everyone's reaction to it...he's starting to feel more distaste than he ever did before for his own summoning method), and then hesitantly reaches out to touch her shoulder.]

... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. But I promise I'm alright.

No, you... warned me...

[ well, this is embarrassing, and Maya hastily wipes at her eyes with one hand and pats at Minato's hand with the other. So much for starting things off positively. ]

And I believed you, but... I never thought summoning a Persona was something that--

[ ... ]

... Desperate. Lonely.

[... Oh. Desperate. Lonely. Those are...grim words, and he's never actually had to face another Persona user seeming so distressed over his method of summoning. Over the year he's had to do it, he'd gotten used to it, and what it was and what needed to be done.

But she looks at him like this, and he thinks of Akira, and Yusuke, and Nanjo, who could all summon without resorting to such drastic measures, and really, he almost feels...ashamed.

He dips his head, looking away, and changes the subject, because he doesn't know how to respond to that.]

... Are you feeling any better, Amano-san? Did the healing spell help?

... Mm, it did.

[ and there's a pause-- because she can't entirely understand why his summoning was like that, but it's clear he's uncomfortable with what she said. Better not to talk about it right now, when there are other things she can do instead.

So after a few seconds, Maya reaches out to just, briefly, pat his head. ]

Thank you, Minato-kun. I feel a lot better now.

[Oh... a headpat. Minato blinks up at her through slightly ruffled hair, but does seem to relax a little.]

I'm glad to hear it. I'm sure it'll be enough work to get settled in this place without having to do it when you're tired and injured, so...
