Intro Log.

It's raining, it's pouring. The old man is snoring. He bumped his head and went to bed And he couldn't get up in the morning.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light. It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb. The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. Oh, and to make things even better, it's raining today. Water from below (though thankfully only like, knee-deep), and water from above... how fun. But most importantly of all... you're not alone. Welcome to Awash's second intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. New characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Thankfully, they have some friends on the outside, this time. Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways. Please feel free to ask any questions here and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

Oh! [ she turns when he approaches, not hearing him until that moment. sometimes she gets so wrapped up... ] Photographer? I'm sorry, I don't know what that word means.

[ even though what she holds in her hands is reminiscent of a tablet, she clearly seems confused. ]

It's what we call people back home who take pictures like you're doin'. [ he gestures to the tablet-thing in explanation. ]

Oh! Then yes, I am. [ she gleams with a bashful smile, feeling silly now. ] My apologies. The technology to take pictures as I'm doing now is not a wide spread availability. The slate I hold is maybe the only thing capable of such a feat in my homeland, though it doesn't surprise me that isn't the case elsewhere.

[ this technology is, to her, part of an ancient civilization. her home regressed instead of moving ahead, and it's so very sad how that is. ]

Do you have a way to print 'em out? [ ... ] Like make hard copies for other people.

Unfortunately not. The slate was not designed with such capabilities, and the only one who could work on that feature is not here to my best knowledge. [ purah would surely not like this place though, and she is best served in hyrule. ] It does have a large storage capacity though and I don't mind sharing within reason.

That's pretty sweet. It doesn't need a power source occasionally, either?

No! [ she says with a bit of pep to it, because it stuns her to this day. ] It's incredible really. It was made over 10,000 years ago but you would never guess it from how it operates. I was worried when I first found it about the ability to sustain its power, but its creators must have found some sort of self-sustaining source.

Huh. I wonder if that could be recreated here. [ ... ] I miss electricity...

[ she smiles a little, an attempt to reassure coming natural to her when someone is in need of it. ]

Back in my land, nobody used electricity regularly. It too is now considered to be ancient technology lost to time. Is it the convenience you miss, or being able to just have something powered by it?

Honestly, both. But I maybe miss my music player more than the convenience?

Oh, that sounds like a lovely device. [ if she's getting the very literal meaning correct of what it does. ] I used to play a harp when I was a girl. A place like this could use some music - at least I hope a good melody cannot be absorbed away like color.

You could play the harp? Shit, maybe we can find one and you can teach me. Any sort of music would be a godsend at this point.

[withwisdom]

[ ah, such language, but she doesn't have the heart to chide him when he seems a little lifted now. ]

I'd be happy to teach you, though I'm quite rusty. [ something about doing nothing for a century but holding back the darkness, etc etc. ] What sort of music do you like then? Sometimes a simple enough instrument can just be made.

Rap, but I like pretty much anything instrumental, too. So...like, any stringed instrument I could pick up would be fine...my best bro has a piano, but it's his, you know?

[withwisdom]

Rap? I've never heard of that either. It seems I have a lot of catching up to do. [ different worlds, different cultures, different people all together. it feels exciting and nerve-wracking all at once. ] I would love to hear you play should we find something for you. You and your, ah, 'bro' as it were.

Yeah, sure. If you see a kid in blue with glasses and super blue eyes, that's the guy I'm talkin' about.

[withwisdom]

Do you know him from your home? [ a smile, fond and forlorn. ] I have a friend in blue too. He's a quiet boy, but he is my dearest companion. You're fortunate to have others here beside you.

...Yeah. He's my best friend. Like your boy in blue.
