[Closed] What's a 'laptop computer', Aruji?

Who: Tonbokiri and Minato Arisato
What: Computer lessons
When: March 20th
Where: Tonbokiri's place in Fluva
Warnings: None.

[A few days have passed since arriving in this town.

Tonbokiri has spent his time mostly occupied with finding tools and materials with which to improve the home he'd, or rather the horse Mikuniguro, had chosen, as well as trying to find water and food suitable to eat. Without a doubt, that is becoming a most pressing problem...

However on this day he is taking some time to fashion a shelter outside for Mikuniguro. Although weather is as unusually grey as everything else in this place, this morning had felt rather chill, and he wondered if there was any chance of rain or snow. Whether there was or not, it was only proper for the noble steed to have a place of his own, anyway.

So Tonbokiri is outside, slowly but steadily fashioning a stable out of a former shed not far from the house, as Mikuniguro listlessly wanders the field, not grazing the grey grasses.
Tonbokiri occasionally walks back to the house to get a particular tool or more of the slightly rusted nails he's collected. The door he leaves open as he comes and goes, as it doesn't quite fit squarely anyway, and he's not far off should anyone come.]

[It's a rough time to be a horse in this Town, Minato can only imagine.

But. Honestly--]

No, I haven't heard any news about that... I know people were talking about food on the forum, but it didn't look as though people could find anything that tasted good.

[that forum, huh?]
messianic: (I look but recognize no more)

[There's a slow blink at that.

Minato looks at Tonbokiri.

And then he fights the urge to sigh in exasperation at himself. Why would he expect a spear to know about computers? Why did anyone expect a spear to know about computers? Also this is probably one of the weirdest things he ever really had to think about but--]

... Oh, no--there's a way to communicate on the laptops we were given that's called a forum. Have you...ever used a computer before?

[Signs point to no.]
messianic: (Fulfilling joy; fulfilling pain?-)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-03-25 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ah... Right. That's only to be expected, and Minato's quick to nod.]

It's not any trouble, really. [In its own sort of way, this is still kind of an honor, honestly. Look, his history teacher was really big on the Sengoku period.]

Let's see if your laptop is still in the place you've been staying. If it is, I can show you how to use it.
messianic: (Farewell farewell my pleasures past!)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-03-26 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I will, but... it's fine. You don't owe me anything.

[So no worries! But more importantly, the laptops! Minato nods, expression relaxing a bit. This would be a lot harder without that step one, so this is good.]

Alright. One of these is yours, so you should be able to log into it... have you seen one that neither of the others has been using?
messianic: (Yet my Disciples sleep;)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-03-26 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Fastforwarding is probably good for some of it!

Minato nods, opening up the laptop easily, watching the screen flicker to lift. The name is right, so... that just means Tobokiri has to set up a password, and then they can get in. Minato's pretty patient walking him through that, at least--choosing a password that he'll remember to keep his laptop secure isn't a terribly hard concept.

And once the laptop has properly been unlocked, Minato nods.]

Here's the forum here. Everyone can post onto it...so we can all communicate, and see each other's messages. Oh--people will only know you by these numbers here, though. [Pointing to Tonbokiri's hex value!]

That seems to be our usernames, for some reason...so you might have to introduce yourself whenever you use it, if you want people to know it's you.

[... Oh. Well.

Minato blinks slowly, head tilting a little. He is, in fact, a very, very quiet person, so now that he's been put on the spot for what would make for a good forum post........]

I... don't know, actually.

[YEP. He's got nothing.]

Anything you'd want everyone to see, I guess. Anyone can respond to it when you put it on the forum, so... you should only put things out there that you want people to see.

But you can see other peoples' messages now too, if that'll help you get an idea.
messianic: (Fulfilling joy; fulfilling pain?-)

[Tonbokiri is so excited and it's weirdly endearing... Minato just nods quietly, expression very, very slightly amused.]

That's right. A lot of people were talking and coming together on a lot of these forum posts, so... it'll be a good way to see what everyone's thinking, too.

[Thumbs up!]

Now that you've got the idea, you'll be able to keep up with things better too.
messianic: (As man's hope of light)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-03-28 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oooh... Minato reads it over carefully, and then he nods approvingly.]

Right, that's a good one for this sort of forum. That way, anyone who might know something useful or have something you could use can respond to it, even if you don't know them personally.

[Tonbokiri gets it, and that's a relief; if there's ever some sort of emergency and they all need to be able to contact each other, Minato feels like knowing about the forum is important.]

I think you've got it down.
messianic: (As man's hope of light)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-03-30 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Very nice. Minato nods approvingly--and then blinks.

Oh, right...that's something to know for sure.]

You don't have to sit around and wait for it, no. It might take people time to respond, since they might also not be at their laptops.

You can always respond to messages when you get back--they won't go away anywhere.
messianic: (Fulfilling joy; fulfilling pain?-)

I'm glad that I could help, Tonbokiri-san.

[It's a natural thing that'll just help benefit all of them, he thinks--the more of them who understand the forum, the better off they'll be.

For now, though?]

If you're feeling more confident with it, I think I'll leave you alone, though.

[A beat.]

... Oh--you can send private messages to people on here too. My username code seems to be #3630FF, so... if you ever need any help or have a question, you can send a message to me, too.
messianic: (For now I die)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-04-02 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it's over here.

[He'll show him how it works! Thankfully it's just a few clicks.]

And my code again is #3630FF... I know it's tough to remember, but I guess that's how it is on this forum.
messianic: (And the act)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-04-09 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[... Huh. Yeah, Minato is definitely just peering at that in some quiet puzzlement, but he won't bring it up. It's more of a fascinating difference than anything.]

It's #3630FF. Writing it down is a good idea, honestly... I've been keeping note of peoples' codes too.

[He has a good memory for things relating to people, but remembering long strings of numbers and letters is not easy.]
messianic: (They use that power against me)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-04-10 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[Close enough. None of the other hexcodes are too similar to Minato's, so hopefully Tonbokiri won't get the wrong person.]

Yeah, maybe... I wonder if maybe it's some kind of computer code, but it's hard to say right now.

[Without any color.]

Maybe we'll find out eventually.
