So Tonbokiri had come clean about everything right away? Mutsu can't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. If he'd come out to Ryouma, would he had heard praise? But this isn't about him right now. He watches the way Tonbokiri smiles and he's proud for his friend too. Who wouldn't be proud to have a spear as great as Tonbokiri? Not all swords are lucky to have masters they can remember fondly and he's glad that Tonbokiri has this.

But ah... as fleeting as Tokugawa's appearance had been, Tonbokiri's smile fades. Mutsu's yet to experience the sudden loss of anyone here so this is news to him. He looks surprised by the news. People don't just disappear but this place works differently. Was he spirited away? Could any of them be spirited away at any moment? Could Tonbokiri be here one moment and gone the next?

"Of course he'd praise ya." The old master isn't here; neither is their new one. So in the absence of both, Mutsu will give praise where it's due. "Look at ya. You're one of the strongest and most reliable guys I know. Where ever he is right now, I bet he's bragging to the whole world about ya."
