Intro Log -- Overflow.
![]() | |
Pussy's in the well. Who put her in? Little Johnny Thin. Who pulled her out? Little Tommy Stout. What a naughty boy was that, To try to drown poor pussy cat, Who never did him any harm, But killed all the mice in the farmer's barn.
Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! This is the overflow log for the Original Intro Log. Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.
Ryoji
[He looks down at the boy in stunned surprise for a moment, then chuckles heartedly and claps him softly on the back.]
I see! Before today I might have said such an idea was impossible, but I have considerably broadened my idea of what is "impossible" recently.
Should we find another well, I will certainly investigate if there are any people living down there.
Have you come to think of any other theories?
no subject
[ He's never seen a well before coming here, but after being rescued from it, he can't deny the draw of leaning over the edge and staring down into the darkness, that urge to cup his hands and shout hello into the empty space. That's about it for his theories about this place, never really all that concerned about where everyone's gone or why. ]
Other than that, I don't know... People don't usually abandon their homes unless something disastrous has happened. Perhaps there was a storm, or a sickness.
[ Damages to the buildings seem to suggest something of the former, and the lack of bones makes him hope he's wrong about the latter. ]
no subject
Mm. Quite reasonable. I would certainly call a loss of all colour a disaster, but there is no way of knowing the possible events, let alone their order. But if the people left because of some disaster, it gives hope that we can find a way to follow them.
[As they walk he looks around again with a slight frown, his eyebrows drawing down in contemplation.] Although, to me, it has more a feeling of being 'spirited away'... Ah, my apologies. If you are not from Japan, perhaps the idea sounds strange to you.
no subject
[ Spirits imply ghosts and death and maybe that's not something he wants to entertain about everybody here, and hopes Tonbokiri can tell him otherwise. ]
no subject
[He pauses to look around him again, considering how to put a 'sense' into words.] This place seems to have been abandoned for a long time, but still, the people, and even the colour, are removed as if by the hand of a god, for what else could do such a thing?
[He shakes his head and looks back down at the boy.] Perhaps we will never know, or perhaps we will find out within the next hour. But for now, it seems that we must simply wait.
no subject
It's sad for the people who were taken, but at the very least, there is comfort in knowing that those left behind won't suffer needlessly for it. By erasing our existence, there is nobody to miss, and their lives won't stall waiting for the impossible.
[ Whoever did this is a benevolent god, in a way. ]
But you're right. There's no sense in wondering about it, is there? It's already been done, and nothing we do or say will change that fact, so all there is to do is wait.
no subject
He is not wrong. But it seems such a... fatalistic way to put it.
Why, if Honda Tadakatsu were erased from history in such a way, would not thousands of souls be vacant of the impact that his life had? Would that space not long to be filled?
He wants to say something, but not finding the way to put it to words for the moment, he can merely nod uncomfortably.
Stirring himself from his grey thoughts, he makes a gesture ahead of them.]
At the very least, you will be able to wait in a warm place. We are almost there.
When I left the fire had burned low, but it will be a simple enough matter to start it again with some proper fuel.
[And as he walks he stoops to pick up a handful of leaves and twigs that had gathered at a building's corner.]
no subject
Considering what he is, the fire might not do much to keep Ryoji warm, but he thinks seeing people safe will do just as well. ]
...Will you be leaving again, after you escort me back? Looking out for any more who have wandered off, [ like himself, milling around in the water; he casts a glance over at Tonbokiri, ] or were you looking for something else when you came upon me?
no subject
I was not looking for anything in particular, but I did want to get a sense of the layout of this town. If something is to happen, it will be important to have that knowledge. A map would be incredibly useful, but this place seems small enough that remembering the general shape of it should suffice for now.
Although- [He gives the boy a wry look-] perhaps I should pay particular attention to the areas of water.
[And then, at last, he realizes that he's missed something very important in this conversation.]
My apologies. At the very least before we part ways, I should introduce myself. I am called Tonbokiri, one of the Three Great Spears of Japan. [Although still walking, he nods his head in place of a bow.]
no subject
What an impressive title! [ Although he doesn't know the Three Great Spears, and doesn't recognize Tonbokiri. ] My name is Ryoji Mochizuki.
no subject
The house I will stay in is over there- [he indicates the direction of Flavo, although he doesn't know it by that name yet,] and is easy to find as there is a horse by it.
