[ Well, this certainly was different from the last fetch quest. We've gone from one golden leaf to a dozen murder birds. How delightful. Not that it phased Caramia any. In fact, he thought it seemed a harmless enough quest- he was a cat, in the end. Catching birds was practically his calling! Keeping them alive? Not so much. But, he'd work on it.

This was why he was bringing Riku along with him. What better way to bond than over a simple task like ~~hunting~~ capturing birds? Plus, he was pretty sure it'd be just a little funny trying to see Riku chase geese around. On the way to the forest, one arm flung over Riku's shoulders with some assurance that he'd be great at catching birds, Caramia stopped briefly when he noticed there was a certain gentleman thief along the way-- all his friends seemed to just conglomerate in Ruga. It was kind of nice, actually. ]

Oi, Lupin!!! [ Caramia waved him down, cheerily. ] We're off to wrangle some birds. Wanna come?

[ he should have figured Caramia would be on this quest. Lupin doesn't recognize the person with him, but he doesn't look surprised to see Caramia hanging all over someone. At least it's not him this time! ]

The thing with the geese? [ he tilts his head, raising one eyebrow in amuseument. ] Are you going to bite them this time, too?

[ what's your game, bro ]

[For better or worse, Riku likes Caramia a lot, so he isn't about to fight the cheerful arm slung around his shoulder.... even though he isn't feeling terribly confident about the two of them catching an entire flock of geese on their own.

Which is why it's nice to run into someone who seems to be Caramia's friend! But before Riku can get out a word of greeting, he hears Lupin's comment, and immediately looks back to Caramia in mild surprise. UH....]

Wait-- bite them?!

No. [ And a swift glance at Riku- ] No.

You're still hung up on that? Come on, I was making fun of you for not having a weapon. Besides, we're not trying to kill them- it said "catch". Unless you're scared of a few birds, that's fine, too. I was just-

[ Pause. ]

Oh! Lupin, this is Riku. He's a musician! [ He said this proudly, like he was showing off for Riku, or something. ] I don't think he knows much about catching birds, though. [ Which'll still be hilarious. Maybe Lupin will agree and they can exchange very knowing glances at each other. Or not, and Caramia will just look like he's told a joke that no one understood. ] So, I was gonna show him how. You in?

[ Unhelpful, since he still didn't explain how. Seems like Lupin will just have to trust him. ]

[ and off he goes. Lupin just chuckles, shaking his head. At least he remembered to do introductions. When Caramia gives his name, he nods slightly, tipping his hat towards Riku. ]

You can call me Lupin. It's a pleasure, monsieur. I'm guessing he dragged you into this...

[ because, yeah, musicians don't generally hunt geese, and it's obvious who's spearheading this. He looks back at Caramia, not looking entirely convinced, but still faintly entertained. Well, he didn't exactly have anything planned, but. ]

You're a hunter, right? That's what you said before.

[It's admittedly a little strange, if not amusing, to see Caramia react with anything but a smile. Whatever situation is being discussed goes slightly over his head, but as soon as introductions come into play, Riku startles at the hat tip (how proper!) and quickly bows his head in return.]

Um, nice to meet you too! I'm Riku, like he said! [These two definitely have to know each other, outside of the obvious, with their monsieur and signore-ing.] I've never done anything like this, but it's worth a try, right?

[That, and.... don't mind him turning to Caramia with the most surprised look as that revelation comes to light.]

A hunter?! That's so cool!

H-hey now, come on, don't go making it sound like that's a bad thing, Lupin...

[ Aw, oh no. Look at Riku's face-- he's such a darling. Caramia can't help but give him a big, toothy grin. ]

Naturally. It kind of came with my job. [ Brag about it, why don't you. ] I'm all out of ammo for my pistols, unfortunately... but I think we're just supposed to catch the birds anyway? So it'll be fine. [ He wasn't sure what they were supposed to keep them in, but he was a "figure things out when we get there" kind of guy.

Though, it seemed he still wasn't getting a straight answer from Lupin just yet, so instead of asking again, Caramia simply tugged Riku in to get closer to Lupin, linking their arms together to gladly tug these two towards the woods. ]

They're certainly not going to wait for us, though! So let's get moving, ragazzi.

[ he didn't exactly have anything planned, but he didn't exactly want to go hunting for geese with Caramia and this poor sucker, either... still, he supposes he might as well. It's a quest, right? If they keep doing them, maybe something good will happen. At least he's used to the other man's touchy-feely nature by now; he manages to slink out of reach before he can link arms with him in a manner not dissimilar to a cat somehow evading a pet. Nonetheless, he starts to walk alongside the two of them. ]

Fine, fine. I'm worried about what'll happen to you guys if you go in by yourselves, anyway.

[A pistol?! Riku's shock doesn't let up at all, though in his surprised stupor, he allows Caramia to link arms with him.... and watches Lupin effortlessly make his way out of it. How crafty and cool!

Riku isn't nearly as physically affectionate as someone like Caramia, but he's happy to keep their arms linked as he curiously peers over to Lupin. It's kind of amusing to watch the way these two interact.]

Even if we're only supposed to catch them, I'm no match for a hunter! I don't have any superpowers or weapons or anything, so I might not be much help.... [Here's a tiny Protag Fist Pump with his free arm.] But I'll do my best! I wonder what geese are like?

[And because he just has to ask....]

What's a "ragazzi?"

[ "Crafty and cool", please. Don't stroke his ego, it doesn't need any more of that. Though, really, Caramia's just upset Lupin doesn't wanna link arms and skip along a la "Follow the Yellow Brick Road". Really though, that might be a little too meta for his tastes, and it's not like Caramia really remembered something like that. Whoops.

Still, he led them both off towards the woods, trying to follow any scent of water, since he figured that would be the most likely place to find geese. Sans that, geese did have a pretty distinct smell, so it'd be pretty easy, anyway. ]

I'm both flattered that you care so much, and offended you don't think I can take care of things, Lupin. I might not be the most mature, but I assure you, I'm responsible.

[ And to Riku, with a smile like he'd just told a joke. ] Have you not seen a goose before? Ah, I guess it won't matter, since whatever's here is probably much different. [ Damn mutated animals. ]

...Ah, ragazzi is... [ Riku seemed so gullible, he's pretty sure he could say it meant just about anything and he'd roll with it. Hmm... but Lupin's also likely to ruin his fun if he tried. Alright, some other time, then. ] "guys", essentially.

[ at least someone appreciates his coolness around here... he follows Caramia's lead, not having anything to go on, himself. ]

You're not making a great case for yourself, [ he comments dryly to Caramia. ] Anyway, I don't have any superpowers, either... but geese are geese, mutant or not. They shouldn't be too much to handle.

[ WHAT'S THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN. ]

[The forest is definitely not Riku's favourite place to be, and he tenses up just a little bit as they get closer, though he's trying his very hardest not to let it show.]

I've seen them, just not up close! [Someone else without superpowers! Lupin does make a great case, and Riku nods along, relaxing a little at his words.]

Yeah, you're right! I'm kind of wishing I'd brought a sheet to catch them with or something. We might have to make a few trips to get twelve of them.
