WHAT: Kaoru and Rin still don't have their pages. They set out to find them with Shiho's help.

[Shiho has her page and that's a relief, but Kaoru knows she needs to find her own as well.

And she's not the only one.]

I can't believe we're going to have to climb a mountain to get to the pages. Isn't that too much? Is this place an S?

Suck it up, buttercup. You're the one who wants to find these things so bad.

[Rin would have been absolutely content with just staying in the cafe and quietly ignoring just how awful everything has gotten in Chroma.

He knows deep down that's impossible, though, and he's just using Kaoru's complaining as a reason to be grumpy himself.]

[Shiho, who will always stand right beside Kaoru no matter what, is right there to support her.]

What, so you just want to hide away in your cafe? Sip coffee or something while a tree spray-paints your door?

[She pouts at Rin.]

Because I want both of us to be able to go home.

[And of course, she leans over to link arms with Shiho.]

And trees wouldn't spray paint the door! They don't even have thumbs. They'll probably just throw fruits at it.

[He knew he had to go home eventually. To face Yukio. Try to bring him back from doing something so monumentally stupid.

But the thought of it left a sour feeling in his stomach.

The joke goes past him without a laugh, a silent scowl his answer as they walked.]

[Shiho, secure at Kaoru's side gives the scowl a raise of her eyebrow.]

Well, it's one way to get free fruit. Besides, you'd probably be all lonely if we weren't here to keep you company, right?

And you still owe us a tour of your actual home. [Because, of course, there's no question in her mind that they were breaking physics and the universe to go wherever they pleased. Those are the perks of being level 7, after all. (Though somewhere in another universe, Minamoto probably feels a chill go down his back and the sudden urge to lecture someone about that not being something powers should be used for!!!)

[She knows things are difficult back home for him, but she also believed that he would be strong enough to deal with it and that it was important for him to face it.

So she matches his scowl with a smile.]

Exactly! And we'll show you around our home too! [Pause.] When things calm down, of course.

[It's barely loud enough to be heard over their footsteps, grumbled off to the side without looking at either of them.

They were trying to cheer him up yet all he could feel was a heavier and heavier weight on his heart. There were too many unknowns to go home to, and while he knew he couldn't run forever he wasn't sure if he would ever actually be ready to face Yukio...]
