I'd like to creep into the wood And see the bonnets blue, And hear the bluebells ringing loud, I wish I could -- don't you?
t's another day, another month, and another time for people to show up in the well. You'd better go rescue them! Never mind the fact that you woke up with a flower in your hands.
It's probably fine. Don't mind it at all. It's not like it's hard to ignore a little flower.
(At least, not until the effects start to kick in. Better go rescue the people in the well before they do.)
Oh, right. Even the people in the well have flowers, so... things are going to be a little ridiculous very quickly, when all of those side effects kick in. Have fun!
Welcome to Awash's Twenty-fifth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. You are welcome to make your own logs and posts for this event!
If there are any questions, please ask them here. Thank you!
That makes sense...and he's not really the type to talk about himself too much either. The cool, silent type! The sort that'd get quite a high ranking in popularity polls!
No, it is true. He keeps very much to himself most of the time. There are only a few who know how to read him well. There used to be a ranking of young cultivators based on looks and talent. I do not know where HanGuang-Jun fell in that list.
He can be pretty hard to read...but if you ask him he's pretty open to explaining what he thinks.
[So far, anyway. But, hm. That ranking again? She thought Wei Wuxian was joking about that...but since Wei Wuxian had said he was forth then that'd mean...]
Sometimes friends are as close as family! I have two friends like that too! We pretty much grew up together. Is that the same for you?
[She could go on and on forever about her friends, really. But...]
Well, only people with strong bonds can travel deep into the forest safely. And the quests we get often rely on bonds or are meant to build bonds...except when they ask for dangerous things. When that happens just ignore those quests.
Yes, it's the same. We have been around each other since before we received our courtesy names. Since we started going on night hunts, we have gone together.
Oh, I see. That is a good thing to know. Thank you for telling me. What sort of quests are we given?
[Thankfully, she actually knows what a courtesy name is!]
That's a long time! But what are night hunts?
[Sounds like something from a video game...]
Well, it can be a lot of different things. Sometimes it's fighting monsters or finding things and sometimes it's weirder tasks like serenading each other with love songs. This month it's finding scorpion tails, fighting nagas and trading clothes. But there's also another one but it doesn't matter and you shouldn't try it.
[Pause.] And if anyone does try it with you let me know and I'll kick their ass and make them beg for forgiveness.
A night hunt is where a cultivator but usually two or more for safety go out and hunt the creatures that plague our world. Most of them are only active at night, hence why they are night hunts. For senior cultivators, it is a way to gain prestige and perhaps money on top of honing their skills. For juniors like myself, it is practice and there is unofficial competition among different sects to see whose juniors can get the most high value prize. It's bragging rights for the sect that they can train their juniors so well.
Hmm... some of the quests sound similar to night hunts. Not all of them though.
[The last statement though has him confused]
If I may ask, what is this one I shouldn't try or let others try?
I have been on a few. We still mainly get lesser assignments, ones we can handle on our own without a senior, but we have accidentally ended up on some more difficult ones.
Oh... well, you do not have worry on either account. Disciples of the GusuLan sect believe that life is sacred; we do not kill except when there is no other option available. And I am likely a match for many though I may not look it.
[He had his sword at his side and talismans literally up his sleeve]
Well, sometimes these things can take an unexpected turn.
[As a government esper...former government esper (the former part is only temporary though!!) she understands this all too well.]
I'm glad you can protect yourself but I mean it! If anyone tries anything let me know! If we both beat them up then they'll definitely think twice before they try any funny business again!
Well, we were at the Mo Village to help rid of walking corpses. Nothing too difficult. To draw them to use, we use spiritual attraction flags. Well, the flags called a very evil left arm that began to attack others.
[Yes, personal space called for standing at a distance. However, he was also too polite to jerk his arm away]
We will. It would be terrific. What is your fighting style if I may ask?
[If he doesn't make it obvious she'll just assume it's fine to continue. After all, so far only Lan Wangji seemed uncomfortable with this sort of contact. (Then again, her points of reference for cultivators right now is mostly Wei Wuxian, who is touchy himself and Shen Qingqiu who is actually a millennial so...)]
Cute and athletic! [...which is a worthless way to describe it. She winks too, which is also useless.]

[When she mentioned Lan WangJi, his eyes lit up]
Ah, HanGuang-Jun! Yes, he is the Second Master of my sect. I know him.
no subject
But..Second Master? [Her eyes light up.] Ah, he never mentioned that! As expected of of someone like him!
no subject
[He smiled] I am not surprised he didn't. It's common information at home so he never has to mention it.

I think he might have been second!
no subject
Second would be oddly appropriate for HanGuang-Jun.
[Only thing more appropriate would be if Lan XiChen were first]
So you have spent some time around HanGuang-Jun then?
no subject
[It'd make sense! She nods.]
Yeah! We're friends!
no subject
Oh, good. I'm glad to hear that. One can never have too many friends.
no subject
[Well, her and her sister didn't always understand each other, but their situation is an exception.]
Exactly! And they're even more important here...bonds really help you out in a pinch!
no subject
Do they? How so?

Whoa! Have you been on a lot of night hunts? You must have some cool stories, right?
[She knows there probably are some scary ones too but no need to get into those right now. But her grin dies back down into a frown.]
Quest 67. You're supposed to kill someone.
no subject
Oh... well, you do not have worry on either account. Disciples of the GusuLan sect believe that life is sacred; we do not kill except when there is no other option available. And I am likely a match for many though I may not look it.

[He smiled]
Thank you. I will let you know should this happen. And you will let me know if they try with you? We can stand together.
no subject
[Because that sounds like a great story. And, of course, because she has 0 concept of personal space she comes closer and attempts to link arms.]
We'll be invincible if we work together!

[Yes, personal space called for standing at a distance. However, he was also too polite to jerk his arm away]

[To be fair, WangJi was more strict about that than others. SiZhui might have been a good GusuLan junior, but he wasn't so strict]
Cute and athletic? What would that involve?

Was anyone hurt?
[She's worried! Well, he seems to be okay, but other people could have been hurt.]
