Event Twenty-One

Sometimes I feel happy, Sometimes I feel sad. Sometimes I feel curious, Sometimes I feel mad. Sometimes I feel silly, Sometimes I feel surprised. How many feelings, Do I have inside?

t's another regular, normal day in the Town. There's absolutely nothing to show that anything could possibly be wrong; the birds are chirping, the sky is bright, and everything is absolutely, entirely wrong. This time, though? The problem is internal. Slowly, bit by bit, people are going to stop feeling entirely like themselves -- or maybe even stop feeling at all. And suddenly that nice, bright day doesn't seem quite so nice and not quite so bright any longer after all. Welcome to Awash's Twenty-First event log, everyone! Please, Maya. I'm not going to sink and die. Just who do you think I am? You're speaking to the legendary gentleman thief of Paris, Arsène Lupin! I'll not be sent to my grave by something as common as a sinking canoe and some cold water.

[ this is apparently his only reasoning ]

It's because you're not even trying to fix the boat first that has me worried! Aren't you a little fussier than this normally?

[ Lupin!! ]

I think it's you who's usually less fussy. What's gotten into you?

[ completely ignoring the fact that the boat is broken, he walks up to her, sticking his hands in his pockets. ]

Is everything all right?

[scooptimistic]

I can't... [ a pause, and she sighs shakily. ]

I've been having a hard time being happy lately.

[heartsteals]

Maya...

[ that's such a sad thing to say! With a sigh, he gives her a sympathetic look - then claps a hand on her shoulder in a friendly way, slinking over to stand beside her. ]

Then I suppose it's on me to cheer you up. Why don't you come with me? Get away from it all for a little while and go on an adventure - that always lifts my spirits!

... I'm not sure if sinking in the harbor would make me feel any better.

[ JUST A HUNCH. ]

We're not going to sink! We're going to strike out and find new land - and you, my friend, are coming along. I need a reliable first made for my crew.

[ he puts a hand at her elbow and starts trying to corral her towards the boat so she can be part of his crew. By which I mean the leaky canoe, so she can hold the other set of oars (which he doesn't have yet.) ]

But Ulala and Yukki both say I crash everything... [ and she says it so petulantly without actually protesting beyond that, so steer away. ]

No need to worry. I'm the captain, so I'll be the one steering the ship. You simply need to help me chart the course and provide some extra manpower.

[ ushering her to sit down in the canoe! She may notice there's already an inch of water sitting at the bottom. Not a good sign. ]

... Lupin, you know it's already taking on water, right?

[ LUPIN?? ]

Please. This is hardly enough to sink a boat. Everything gets a little wet when you're surrounded by water, you know.
