[ here in his time of need! He holds out a hand to accept the oar from her, but she's jumping in the boat, instead. Under normal circumstances, provided he even somehow decided doing this was a good idea in the first place, he'd probably tell her to hold up and seriously consider if she wants to come with him... but right now, he doesn't remember how to be concerned about anything, so he's just feeling excited about having a travel partner. Lupin climbs in after her. ]
And enthusiastic, too. Want me to paddle?
no subject
[ She'll dip the oar and use it as leverage upon the bottom to get their raft going! As soon as he's safely inside, of course. ] Are you the captain, then? To where are we heading?
[ Probably not far, if there are holes in this boat.
She knows this already, as it's obvious that their little ship is in terrible condition. Yet she doesn't care. Can the man swim? Maybe he'll just drown. ]
no subject
Not that he's thinking about it. The idea that the boat might sink hasn't even crossed his mind. ]
Out - wherever we can find! The water can't go on forever. I'll bet you there's answers on the opposite shore.
no subject
I'll be your trustworthy first mate. Say, do we have a name for this fine vessel? [ She's speaking playfully, her voice almost sing-song. ]
no subject
I feel reassured already.
[ a name, though... he hadn't thought about it. It's normal to name boats after beautiful women, right? Well... ]
We don't. Maybe "The Cairngorm?"
[ not a woman but BEAUTIFUL and that's what counts. Also, he loves them. The most important part.
She might notice there's already water pooling at their feet not even 30 seconds into this journey. ]
no subject
Pyra ignores it. ]
Think we'll find some islands? A nicer beach? I was hoping that we would all be able to find a warm, sunny paradise to all relax and lounge under the sun together by summer.
no subject
Hahaha. Dreaming of a tropical vacation, huh... That doesn't sound half bad. I'm hoping we find another town or something like that, actually, but I'd take an island paradise just as well.
no subject
Which she knows about, but doesn't say anything. ]
The island paradise could be another town. Surely the residents of Chroma had vacation spots, and they would need to travel to them, and... [ Still wild mass guessing here, though. Or more like, wishful thinking. ]
....Lupin, can you swim?
no subject
The comment about swimming seems to give him some pause, but he just chuckles. ]
Well, of course! It would be dangerous to go boating if I didn't. The water's still a little too chilly for me, though. [ beat. ] Don't tell me you're worried about this water in the boat? It's barely up to our ankles! We'll be fine.
no subject
[ ONWARD!
A few more paddles with the oar however prove to be a little more difficult than before, as the water is now up to their calves. Also, when she next picks the oar out of the water, there is a tentacle wrapped around it. ]
...Hey.
[ Now she's going to the side of the boat, and because of her weight, it's going to be listing very heavily to its side already. ] This is... our oar!
[ She's trying to tug it from whatever abomination has grasped onto it, as if it can be communicated with. (Or hear her at all.) ] Lupin, a little help here! It won't let go! [ Tugging, tugging, tuggggggging...>! Meanwhile, that boat is rocking dangerously. ]
no subject
[ that went better than expected! Pyra's such a good sport. Lupin likes her, he decides. Good choice for an adventuring partner, even if she kind of made the choice herself.
Their rapidly-sinking adventure that's going to start sinking even faster, apparently. Lupin blinks in surprise when he spies the tentacle - then quickly grabs the side of the boat so he doesn't fall off when the boat tips. ]
Monsters already? We're not even out of sight of the town yet! Come on. [ still, he doesn't seem like he's panicking?! he drops his oar so that he can whip out the small stiletto knife he keeps on his person, then proceeds to lean out as far as he can, trying to slice at the tentacle.
This probably doesn't help the balance issue the canoe is having. Also, his oar definitely just fell into the water because his total lack of worry at the moment means he didn't think about the consequences of dropping it. ]
no subject
Twice.
And then-- UNLESS HE DOES SOME SORT OF MIRACLE TO STOP IT-- it will capsize. (It's already sunk into the water anyways.) ]
no subject
Woah--
[ and then, for the third time in like, two months, Lupin is dunked into the harbor. The good news is that he can, indeed, swim - the other good news is that, for the first time in several hours, a thought of actual concern pops into his brain, and when he surfaces, he glances around wildly. ]
-- Pyra?!
[ is he gonna have to dive under to save her, because he will ]
no subject
[ She also, notably, doesn't seem to care that he's alright either, and she doesn't even bother to inquire about his welfare. ] How annoying...! [ So she says, but again she doesn't sound entirely bothered either. ]
Is there nothing in this town that works? [ She's already swimming over to him, though, crimson hair matted to her face. ]
no subject
Apparently not. I can't believe it sank! We've barely made it anywhere at all. I suppose we'll just have to go back and find another boat.
[ ... he's not asking if she's okay, either. He's forgotten how to worry about anything at all. ]
no subject
Best of luck to you... on your own. [ NAW MAN, she's done here. She's cold. ]
no subject
[ paddling after her and sounding disappointed... ]
no subject
You really want to go out there? Our ship had holes in it that we probably didn't see! The rest of the boats here are similarly damaged, it's going to take time to repair any of them!
no subject
[ he cannot be dissuaded from this, apparently. ]
no subject
Alright. One more time. [ Already making her way over to another boat. ] We need to find... some sort of resin to plug these holes, though.
[ ... ]
Or maybe we should just build another boat.
[ Luckily there are trees everywhere! That will continue to make their emotions even more lacking if they cut those down to build a new boat. Or a raft. ]
no subject
Not a bad idea! I've been working on making some rubber putty in my spare time - perhaps that'll be enough to plug the holes. I'm sure they aren't very big. It'll be easier than building another boat, at least.
[ rather than head straight for another boat, he emerges onto the beach, first, wringing out his clothes tiredly. He's wearing a bunch of Victorian-era jackets, the whole package, and therefore, he is really heavy and fairly exhausted from lugging his water-laden clothes all that distance. Give him a second. ]
no subject
So long as I get to choose the name of this boat, this time.
[[OOC: Mindhaving the rest? ]]
