Open Mingle for Post Dragon Invasion Clean Up
WHO: Everyone in Town
WHERE: All over
WHEN: After the dragons leave
WHAT: Repairing buildings, dealing with dragon corpses, freaking out about the encroaching forest, dealing with injuries, etc.
WARNINGS: Dead dragons, maybe.
The dragons sure did a number on the town, didn't they?
Buildings have been burned down (or crushed), the forest has apparently decided to play at territory invasion (again) and there are dragon cadavers around the town.
And, unfortunately, these things don't magically take care of themselves.
Thankfully, as long as everyone pitches in, clean up shouldn't be too hard!
Maybe. Assuming at least a few people know what they're doing. Except, you know, apparently the trees on the edge of town grow back the next day if destroyed.
((OOC: Just a mingle post for post event stuff! Go ahead and make your own top levels!)

[His expression shifts, confusion giving way to scrutiny.]
What purpose do they serve? This skyscraper sounds grievously vulnerable.
no subject
I guess they give the people inside the best view? Being that high up, the view is pretty amazing!
And anyway, the glass is pretty strong!
no subject
If it is as tall as you say, few arrows could hope to reach so high . . .
no subject
Well, most people don't use arrows these days.
no subject
What do they use, then?

no subject
You mean to tell me that these guns are incapable of penetrating your glass walls?

[Which isn't the same as her country.] It's an island country in Asia.

[Well, that's not too strange, really.]
Well, Japan isn't that big as far as countries go but it has a huge population! It's also the birthplace of anime and otaku culture! It also has three Level 7 espers who make up the world's cutest esper team, the Children!
no subject
There are levels?
no subject
Yeah. It's based on how strong their power readings are. Level 1 is the lowest and Level 6 is the last level that can be measured. Anything stronger than that is Level 7. But you know, that's only raw power. It still depends a lot on the person using it! And of course, Synthetic Power users and multiple power users can be tricky.
[She's basically paraphrasing Minamoto at this point, tbh.]
no subject
You must be one of those Children.
[Berkut has seen Kaoru's power at work. Perhaps not to such an extent that he would have guessed her to be so strong, but enough to know that she wields this strange ability as though it were an extension of herself. There's also her easygoing confidence to consider, and it crosses his thoughts yet again that Chroma has amassed a truly bizarre but powerful bunch.]
What is it that you do?
[He wants to know. In the country she comes from, how is a great power like hers utilized?]
1/2
[She is both complimenting her own cuteness while trying to annoy him into forgetting that train of thought.]
Anyway, the Children are what we call special espers that work for the government. A special esper's duty covers everything from investigations, dealing with terrorist, disaster relief, helping out emergency services and answer the complaint hotline. But some other teams have other specialties too.
2/2
Or that's what I've heard anyway.

Your knowledge is rather considerable for a mere outsider.
[If he thinks anything of it, he doesn't say. Perhaps all of that is common knowledge for the people of Japan. He wouldn't know.
There's the slightest pause before he continues.]
This Shiho you mentioned before. Is she one of them?
no subject
[All of this is true.]
It's rude to ask a girl about another girl, you know.
no subject
Then don't answer. It matters not.
[In spite of committing her name to memory, he still has no idea who Shiho actually is.
Is he sulking? Perhaps a little.]
no subject
She stepped closer to bump shoulders with him. She smiled at him and it wasn't teasing or her usual happy-go-lucky grin.]
Where I come from, there are people who consider people like me monsters. Outside of Japan, there are other countries that employ espers in the government but also places where children are abandoned or used...all because they were born with powers. Even low level espers who can't do anything with their powers get viewed the same way.
Talking about our own powers is a sign of trust...and back home it's not something we can even choose to do. Because almost all espers are required to wear Limiters. [She'd gesture at her own watch right now if her arms weren't full of wood.] And usually, they're not hard to recognize.
That's why, whether my friends back home are espers or not. Whether they are a Level 2 esper trying to live their best life or a Level 7 esper working for the government...I won't say it no matter who asks.
[Even if you're a prince. Because even when Guren asked she had only said she couldn't tell him.]
no subject
The irritation is short-lived. Her reasoning behind remaining so tight-lipped eases the tightness in his expression, and Berkut fixes his sights on the path ahead of them.]
If you had said that from the start, I would not have asked.
[By nature, he isn't nosy. No, it's just that he detests roundabout talk and feeling like he's being led in circles. People should be direct. And so:]
In the Empire, power is something to flaunt. [There's a beat before he continues, and his tone suggests that he doesn't entirely agree with what follows.] Consequently, the Faithful have a tendency to sell their souls for a taste of their god's primordial strength.
[Hailing from a country where its citizens flock to power like moths to a flame, this attitude toward espers is all too strange.]
no subject
She privately feels...being respected for being powerful isn't necessarily a bad thing. But respect without understanding...in the wrong sort of situation could easily lead to fear.
But it's his world and his own situation. She knows better than to make any assumptions.]
The Faithful?
no subject
They are members of the church of Duma, the Empire's founding god. They conduct themselves as they please, ignoring any teachings that don't suit their needs.
[He makes no effort to hide his bias. He's always hated those religious fanatics.]
They rely solely on their god's power, yet claim it as their own.
no subject
They sound like a cult.
