[There's a Rin bouncing up the stairs and coming to knock at her bedroom door. She was sick recently, and had even fled to the forest to deal with not having her power go wild because of it, but she'd been back for a few days and he was wondering how she was doing.

And also curious if he could get her to spar with her because he was still missing some of his color.]

well, anyway, she can work through that on the way over. she'll take to the air, so if Rin is looking for her, he'll see her descend from the sky to land lightly in front of his place a short while later. ]

He's got the hood of his hoodie over his head, but that only hides his hair and not his eyes, which are distinctly not their usual vivid blue. Easy to see once he looks up and waves her down.]

[ Thaaaat's. Hm. Her expression is thoughtful but open as she approaches him, her eyes searching his face. Yeah, that's not normal. Sighing through her nose, she'll reach out to just lightly press her fingertips to his forearm. ]

[Yeah it's. Unnerving. He damn near screamed when he caught his reflection.

Fucking mirror. Fucking ice castle. Fucking everything.]

[He's not completely without color, at least. Tugging his hood down reveals that his hair is also missing color. Thankfully not the stark white that had been in his mirror, but a dull, washed out gray.]

[ It tugs at her, a little, this quiet, sad presence at her side, when the boy she'd first met had been laughing and mischievous and bright. He's been through a lot, huh?

His eyes, his hair... they're a grim reminder of the helplessness of their situation. ]

Should I ask what happened, or did you want to start somewhere else?

[He's managed to avoid it thus far, but he knew sooner or later his own luck would run out in that regard. It's been almost a year - he can't avoid it forever.

It happened after I woke up from the ice castle, but I'unno if it has anythin' to do with that.

[ Shakes her head in a vaguely exasperated way, though it seems good-natured. ]

Rin, you can tell me whatever you want to tell me. I'm not going to force you! You were the one who asked if you could whine at me. So whine! Say whatever is on your mind. [ A pause, and she'll gesture loosely. ] I am the last person who is going to judge you for the demon thing, if that helps.

Whenever she gets there he's in the front room, sitting on the couch with something... fluffy in his arms.

Said fluffy thing is very small and seems to be happily chewing on his fingers.]

[When is Rin Okumura not making things difficult on himself and on everyone around him?]

Heh. I know... I do appreciate it, though.

[Sigh. Where to start...]

I... didn't have any friends growin' up. Everyone was scared of me. It made a lot more sense when I found out what I was, but I still kinda... resent people for that. I got lucky with the exorcist cram school. I tried to hide it from them at first but when it finally came out they were... [a soft laugh] they were angrier that I lied than over what I was.

[ Considering she doesn't live too far away, she's there within minutes. She walks into the room and looks at Rin.

[The fluff stops chewing and turns her head to look at Kohaku with wide blue eyes, gray tipped ears twitching in her direction.]

I've made great friends here, and I wouldn't want anyone I care about to go through this shit day after day, but I do wish they were here sometimes...

I get it. Someone important to me used to be here, back in the beginning, but she left early on. I miss her pretty much all the time, but I wouldn't want her trapped here either.

[He had Shiro and Yukio, but even Shiro had his limits with Rin and Yukio...]

Pretty sure... I asked Dad once. The teachers at the school were callin' me a demon child so I asked him if I was and back then he said no, but... I was also like five. I think he was just tryin' to protect me from it.
