I think the Snow Queen's plot lines up more with what we're dealing with, though. A demon made a mirror that reflected everyone's worst aspects of themselves, and it shatters into a billion pieces one day and it scatters all over the earth, getting into the eyes and hearts into certain people and turning them into... you know, what we're probably seeing in each other's mirrors right now. It's how the protagonist's childhood friend have been easily swayed by the Snow Queen, who whisks him away to her palace of ice.
