DAVE, quest 3

[They need a new meeting place, John thinks. They've been meeting at the well every time they need to meet up for something and John sometimes thinks it's a pain in the ass even if it's effective. It's about this point he wishes that maybe they had working portable devices or anything they could use to message each other, but so far nothing.

So instead, here they are.

As usual Dave beats him there and John approaches the well, a little anxious to get going and giving Dave a wide grin as he stops next to him. He doesn't have his hammer out yet, but his fingers are flexing a little as he bounces on the balls of his feet.]

So. Any idea where we should look? Harpies are like birds, right?

MOMO AND IZUKU, quest 5

[windeity]

[HERE WE ARE. BACK AT THE WELL. John's eventually going to get tired of the well but he had agreed to meet Izuku and Momo here and he's sitting on the edge of the well as he waits for his new friends. This quest is a little weirder to him and a lot less straight-forward, but Izuku's enthusiastic and Momo's pretty smart. Between the three of them they can figure this out! Right?

...well at least he knows he'll get along with these two. He's kicking his feet a little, letting his heels bounce against the well but as soon as he spots either of them he perks up and he shouts.]

Hey!

Egbert-kun! [Izuku raises a hand to wave at him as he jogs up to the well.]

Yaoyorozu-san should be here soon, too. I guess that first quest wasn't just a one time thing after all.

[ there's no return wide grin, but dave seems to be pretty sparing with smiles in person. john's made him laugh once or twice, but he doesn't really do that so often, either. it might just be a personality thing rather than a stressed out thing, but who actually knows him well enough to be sure?

he just hops off the well where he'd been perched on the side, shrugs and looks up at the ever-gray sky. ]

Yeah...so probably they're somewhere high up. But not anywhere in the town or we'd know. So...woods, I guess...?

[And Momo comes walking out only a moment after Izuku, walking out of the storehouse she'd been putting together. John might be amused to note that the sign hanging from the door she exists is a vibrant, almost violent, shade of pink.]

I'm here now. I was just finishing up making some barrels.

So! Story telling?

[I can't believe Egbert-kun is real. Still, he's pretty pleased with this and when Momo appears he grins even wider...even if she's a dirty traitor for making the sign a shade of red!! Alas. It's noticeable and he nods as an acknowledgement to her good work before focusing on the task at hand.]

Story telling. If that quest really wasn't a one-time thing I guess it is safe to say we will be doing this a lot. Anybody else feel like the way it was worded was kind of...I don't know, not that helpful?

Woods. Guess it's a good thing neither of us are afraid of heights. [Even if Dave's quiet and his smiles are rare John's eager enough for the both of them. Dave's off the well and John begins leading them to the forest.] If they are birds they might be in really tall trees.

[parodeity]

Or maybe we'll find a way along the coast to like cliffs or something...

[ he tips his head to the side, considering. ]

I wonder what kinda bird harpies are based on?

[windeity]

Probably like birds of prey. Hawks or something. Do you think we should check by the ocean first then? For cliffs. [That would make more sense, at least.]

[parodeity]

Yeah, sure. I haven't really checked out that area at all, anyway.

[ because he doesn't care about the ocean.......... ]

[windeity]

Then we're going the wrong way. [He gives him a little grin.] My house is by the ocean right now. I think it has to do with being sorted into the blue district or something? I haven't really figured that part out.

[parodeity]

[ no return grin, but dave just nods and changes directions. ] Sounds fun. Seems like how people were split up, yeah, based on font colors and where all I know people live.

[windeity]

Do you think it means we have to stay where we were split off to? [He follows along, taking the lead just slightly as they head for Bluo.] I've wondered that.

[parodeity]

I don't know. I don't think anyone has tried to leave districts, although I know a few people who have moved house within their districts. Doesn't seem to bug the laptops none. [ though annoyingly enough the laptops won't work otherwise... ]

[windeity]

Maybe it is worth experimenting with. You, me, Terezi and Vriska are all split up by red and blue anyway. [To the cliffs.] How far did you move?

[That implication is pretty clear, bro.]

[parodeity]

If anyone wanted to experiment I doubt the rest of town would stop 'em. And just away.

[ from a place full of strangers, immediately and without stopping to think about it. ]

Few houses over. Dunno.

Oh. [..well. He goes quiet and just heads for Bluo, toward the ocean and away from town.]

Maybe the harpies won't be so bad when we get there.

[parodeity]

Did you want to live with the girls or something? [ that sounds exhausting, tbh. ] And yeah, maybe. But then we'd have to decide if we're gonna hunt 'em or not. Wonder if we get a penalty if not?

[windeity]

Fuck no. [Cheerful as ever.] That was just an example, I think I would rather live with the harpies. What was the phrasing of the quest itself again?

[parodeity]

Great. I wouldn't want to. [ they're exhausting...! ] And the phrasing was literally just "Hunt the harpies" along with the red and blue requirement.

[windeity]

Okay, well, hunt does not necessarily mean kill at least so maybe there's something we can do about that. Like capture them and move them or something.

[Like he'll murder the harpies when harpies attack first, but.]

Are we supposed to be moving them? [ dubiously. ] Like, we are lacking the details. Hell, for all we know I guess someone could really want us to play a game of bird tag?

[windeity]

We would definitely win bird tag. But also I don't know. The whole thing is pretty vague so maybe it does not matter how we complete the quest as long as we're technically hunting them? We'll find out when we get there and find them.

It does make you wonder what else is out there though.

Harpies are mythological or whatever, so like. Dragons?

[ dubiously.

Mermaids in the ocean...if there are dragons here I kind of vote on not telling Terezi. Same deal goes for if we come across giant spiders of any kind.
