t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [Guren certainly hasn't run out of any things to do. He's running on almost no sleep, it's great.]

It's looking better than it did six months ago, if that helps any. Those quests actually do seem to be helping, one way or another. At the very least, it's some kind of progress that you can track.

[Changing the subject is a completely valid tactic.

He looks a little bit interested at the mention of this fish guy.] Is he a werewolf? They're very good at fishing. [It's also very possible that it was just Fenrich doing his steward duties.]

[Quests. Missions. He can do that much. But as for the other part...]

Quests should be doable. I'll chip in what I can, if it will help us all leave faster.

However, I am a machine. Forming connections with others is something I can't really do.

[It's all fake, just a simulation to make him less creepy. That's what Connor has known since he was activated just a few months ago. Believing anything different is just asking to become deviant.]

[ The promise isn't a big one, definitely nothing like the last promise he made.

A very short laugh and he shakes his head. ] No, not a werewolf. He's just really good at it. [ Nico is fine telling people he's a demigod but he won't do the same for others on their behalf. ]

[ It's obvious that he doesn't mind, even if he doesn't go into the topic in too much detail. With his shoulderblades to the wall, he sticks out one leg as punctuation. ]

That's also another cliche, sorry. I hurt my leg during a game, so I had to give up on going pro.

[ A bittersweet memory, but one that he's thankful for. Again, he waves it away. ]

Classical piano, though! Like Mozart and Liszt? That's amazing, I wonder if we can find you a piano around here...

[ The assessment gets him to laugh, and it's a warm, pleasant one. It's also genuine, though that part is much more difficult to actually discern. ]

Very much so. Strange as it may sound, my profession has trained me rather well for that. I am quite used to having to do all sorts of unreasonable things, so this is more of the same. Well, a bit more extreme, mind you, but it is still almost second-nature to me at this point.

[ He glances back to his house behind him, but shakes his head as he gives a little shrug ]

Though as such, I hardly need a better kept house. I rather prefer quite spartan living conditions for myself, so a project to improve upon suits me better than something already in good shape.

[ Sebastian seems to realize something, then adds a bit apologetically: ]

...It sounds as if I am dancing around it the more I speak, so do pardon me. I am a butler, and the caretaker of a manor. [ He sets the hammer down on his project in progress so that he can bring a hand up to his chest and dip into a perfectly formal, if politely shallow, bow ] Sebastian Michaelis of the Phantomhive Manor, at your service.

He doesn’t have to know that so it’s fine.]

Well there’s no one like that here. [Except for Dex. But using Dex like a sentient clothes-purifying machine is not allowed.]

Why are you apologizing for getting hurt in a cliche way...? [...] Either way, you can still dance and stuff? I mean, I guess that's way different from soccer, but...

[She doesn't end the sentence with 'that's good', but the sentiment is implied in her tone. There's a nod at his next words.]

Yeah, exactly like that. But - I kind of doubt it? This doesn't seem like the kind of place that would have a piano. Anyways, it's not a big deal if there's not.

[ Oh. For once, Momo's the one to look slightly off-kilter thanks to the reciprocation, but he quickly recovers; the acting is replaced with something noticeably more sincere, big eyes narrowed in contentment and appreciation. ]

That's super super sweet of you to say! It's true— I should never doubt the power of love so quickly.

[ A firm nod, and he goes in for a one-armed hug.

Holds it for a beat too long. ]

[Every promise is a Very Big Deal to Val. He Will Remember This.]

A fisherman by trade? A very respectable profession.

—And that would have been the perfect place for someone to burst in with the hidden camera, but no dice?!

[ He pulls away, apologizing for the hug with a one-handed prayer salute. His shirt ladder flops uselessly back into the water. ]

Sorry, it looks like we really do have to count on ourselves to get out of here... But I wasn't lying when I said that you're super super sweet, though!

[ Promises are a pretty Big Deal to Nico too so luckily he will keep it. ]

More like a fisherman by blood. He's only been doing it himself for a few years now but Percy's decent enough.

[He does make it up successfully, several minutes later after making sure others are alright.

He scrambles not very graciously out of the well, tumbling over the side and falling on the ground before straightening back up. After he's back on his feet and dusted off, he spots her, a bit surprised she's still here.]

It's good that you're alright.

[ninjanature]

[Though he doesn’t say anything in response to the understanding, Sasuke does search Guren’s face briefly. If he finds whatever he’s looking for or not, he makes no indication.]

You’re going to have your hands full. I know that.

[In a way, it makes him miss Boruto even if he hasn’t spent a large amount of time with the boy. Yuu reminded him of Boruto anyway... or Naruto at the very least.] Here. [This time, Sasuke doesn’t throw it. He offers the shuriken back out between his fingers.] He wanted me to teach him. I told him he had to retrieve this from you and return it to me first.

You’ll keep him on his toes, I hope.

[Once Guren takes it, without so much as a word, Sasuke blurs then disappears. Guren can track him—not teleportion but insanely fast movements. Sasuke goes from the roof to the ground in a matter of seconds, running and jumping to Guren, of course. At the bottom, he waits on Guren to descend despite the likelihood they’ll part ways.]

So it's a family tradition...?

I'd like to see him in action. If you find him here, I want to meet him.

[Guren makes a face at the shuriken, but reaches out to take it with a sigh. He watches Sasuke move like that, then simply hops off the roof himself, lazily and with no real rush. They are about to part ways, but—]

You just made him an even bigger pain in the ass. Thanks a lot. [It's not as digging as it sounds.]

[ Not really but he isn't going to say that Percy's dad is the god of the sea. (Or one of them anyway.) ]

Sure, I'll introduce you if he turns up. [ Seems better to introduce them than let Val become a hungry demon vampire. ] Have you seen anyone you know from home yet?

[ Oh, he thinks. She's kind!

To her first question, he responds by lifting himself up off of the wall and doing a surprisingly agile spin on his heels. Ta-da. ]

Dancing isn't a contact sport, so I'm fine. If we ever have to really run somewhere, I can even carry you on my back and sprint!

[ A thumbs-up, even if he gentles a bit at the rest of her words. ]

But, really? You're not gonna miss making music?

[He looks positively relieved at the notion that their ears are round.]

So they are not clipped! I was worried for them!

[Look it's Sidon. You can't blame him for thinking...you know. It's Sidon.]

Do not worry about it. It is rather interesting....Link and myself had just finished freeing Vah Ruta. [A pause.] Well, Link more than myself, Zoras being weak to shock arrows.

[ninjanature]

[Very slowly and deliberately, Sasuke looks down at himself. What? Hm. Is it really so bad he prefers a lot of black and grey or white and very muted purples? Let him live his best goth dad life, Nico. Damn.

The corners of his lips twitch, but he doesn’t smile exactly when he glances back up. The humor dies away after a moment, and he instead frowns gently at Nico’s explanation.]

It must be hard. [He sounds sincere rather than patronizing.] Is he a shadow being? Your abilities utilized shadows like a clan I know from home. They aren’t powerful beings, though. Just ninja.

[ Oh. ]

...There are monsters in the forest?! [ WHY ] Isn't that a little too extreme?! Aren't there little kids here?!

Unfortunately, I haven't.

[He peers into the well, but he knows that none of his comrades came along with him.]

It's probably for the best. [He sounds like he's trying to convince himself for a moment before he regains his resolve.] Fenrich can take care of things while I'm away.

[hamerhead]

A pro hero. [The words sound strange on his lips and he quietly ponders their meaning.] Is that more than a 'normal' hero?

[Sorry he has no idea what the heck all that means.]

Um, you really don't have to do that. Actually, let me put it another way, never do that.

[Just laying the ground rules for any possible emergency that requires sprinting, as one does. She looks towards the ground, and while she's not quite nonchalant, she's clearly trying to play off his concern.]

I'm pretty sure there are way more important things to be thinking about right now, you know? It's not a big deal, I'll live.
