a. the polite way

[Ochako has never collected honey in her life, but.... how difficult can it really be? She's seen cartoons! She knows what a beehive looks like! (Spoiler alert: Ochako has no idea what a beehive really looks like.)

So instead of doing any research at all, Ochako messages a handful of people, grabs a small jar from her kitchen cabinets, and heads to the edge of the forest to wait. She's just, you know, loitering there, idly tossing the jar from one hand to the other, until she spots one of her friends making their way over to her.]

Hey! [She waves excitedly, leaving the jar just... floating right in front of her. Neat.] Are you ready to go?

bee. the rude way (aka thank u, ghost, for reminding me that b is bee)

[Even if Ochako didn't message you, that doesn't mean you're safe. Maybe she knows you? Maybe she doesn't? It's not like it matters! As she wanders around town, if she spots anyone who looks like they're not doing anything particularly important... well, she's going to walk right up to them with a smile.]

You're not busy, are you? Because there's a ton of honey out there waiting for us to gather it up! Let's go!

[Sorry, mystery character, but you don't have a say in the matter! Any reluctance will be met with her sliding her arm through yours and tugging you right the heck along.]

[Let's be real, Ichimatsu is never really busy or doing anything important. At the particular moment Ochako finds him he's just... sitting, with his cat, as he often does, probably tucked a little out of view but not enough for the excited honey-gathering energy that is Ochako. He blinks and looks up at her, aiming to protest, but she's looping her arm through his and dragging him to his feet.]

Ah-- um, okay, but, isn't beekeeping something that needs protective... stuff?? [They're going to get stung and die.]

[ ochako is just so cool with that floaty power of hers, though dextera does wonder how suited any of them are to actually going out to collect honey. what’s the point, anyway?

it’s a quest, which is why they must, but dextera isn’t even sure that honey has color these days. ]

[Even if she was busy, there’s nothing Shiho can do when Ochako just straight up slides her arm through hers and then starts tugging her along...]

[The chances of them escaping unscathed are pretty darn low, yes, but Ochako definitely isn't thinking about that as she pulls him right along behind her. To the forest! To the bees!]

I don't think so? I mean, if we're really, really fast, then... we should be okay, right? We'll steal the honey before the bees even know what's happening!

[She has enough confidence for ten people, so cheer up, buttercup!]

[Ochako snatches her jar out of the air, pleased, because if Dextera thinks this is enough... then it has to be enough, right? Right! So without worrying about any extra supplies, into the forest they go.]

I didn't want to bring a container that was too big, you know? We have to take some of their honey, but taking all of it seems... mean. They worked hard for it!

[Ahh but they knew each other. So Kei's reaction wasn't outright protesting, but rather to tell her to wait while he fetched his blade.]

[Ochako is just that excited about honey! Actually, she's really just excited about spending more time with Shiho, but bonding while completing a quest makes it even better.]

[Oh, Nanjo. Ochako politely bites her bottom lip to keep from laughing, because imagining him swinging that thing around at a swarm of bees is absolutely hilarious. The sleep spell, though—]

You should! Sleepy bees would make everything so much easier! [A pause, and then, a bit sheepishly:] And I really don't want to get stung...

[ what a coincidence, he is also here to get some honey! Or, well, he's here thinking about how he might get some honey, standing near the edge of the woods with what looks like a cloak in his hands when Ochako shows up. ]

If it isn't Ochako! Hey. You're gonna go out and try to steal some honey, too?

[ if he goes with her, he must be extra careful to keep her from getting stung, too... ]

I don’t think I know how it works.

[ there are a lot of things that dextera doesn’t understand, and it’s not like the fairy tales in the library are any help on how bees produce honey. instinctively he understands that it has something to do with flowers… but beyond that, who knows? ]

[Ochako jogs right over to him, waving her jar in the air, because damn! It's been a long time since she's actually seen this fancy man.]

I'm going to try! It seems like an easy enough quest. [Famous last words! She glances down at his cloak, curious, before looking back up at him with a grin.] But I bet it'll bee even easier if we work together!

[Wow! She's hilarious!!]

[She knows... very little about either, honestly, but she feels like she has to try! For Dextera!! ...But where in the world is Deku when you need him?]

[Ochako holds up a small glass jar, because hey, would you look at that! She's prepared for once!]

We just put in this, right? I guess we take the hive and, like... pour it out!

[Is it obvious that she has exactly zero (0) experience in this field? But hey, at least she's trying!! Don't judge her as she turns to head for the door.]

I'm sure we'll figure it out when we find it! Let's go!

[He's protest some more but OFF THEY GO, he'll trust her judgement (has she done this before)? and he dutifully follows, acting more like a combination of guardian and watchdog as they make their way there.]

[ this is going to be a disaster, probably, but at least with ochako around it will be a very cheerful disaster. ]

[ Cairn is in the same boat in that they have no way of knowing what sort of things to pack for a Bee Hunting Excursion. Nor have they done any research on the topic, since bees aren't that popular in fairytales... they're going to have to rely entirely on her for that lot of information, and only bring what they usually carry around with them— which is their sword, clearly the most delicate and useful tool for this task. ]

I'm as ready as I can be.

[ They don't wave back, but they do give a tiny nod of acknowledgement, slowing their pace the closer they get to her. ]

Do you already know where we're supposed to go?

A beekeeping outfit would have been helpful. [Or even some kind of hat like the ones that beekeepers wear? Still, she’s not pulling back, letting Ochako pull her into the forest.]

Or those smoking cans that make bees sleepy. [Though now that she thinks about it, where there’s smoke... there’s fire? She can set a fire?? (Shiho don’t set a fire)]

[A willing-ish participant! Nice. Right toward the forest they go, and at a rather brisk pace, too... although the last thing he says does cause her to slow a bit.]

I didn't? [She glances upward, thinking back to their last meeting before pulling a face.] Oh, I didn't. Sorry! Sometimes I just get so excited about meeting new people that I forget about... everything else, I guess.

[And here is sheepish little laugh, because it's embarrassingly true.]

But I'm Ochako! Ochako Uraraka. It's nice to really meet you, um—?

[Yes, she's done this once or twice... but she didn't mess with the hive, so this is going to be a fun, thrilling adventure for the both of them. RIP, Nanjo.

But into the forest they go! She's the very picture of confidence as she turns her head this way and that, obviously looking for signs of bee life.]

Kind of? They like flowers, and I know where all the best flowers are! [A beat, and then, because she knows that Nanjo and Okuyasu are buddies:] But only because Okuyasu and I like to look for new kinds.

[Somewhere in town, Okuyasu's ears are burning.]

[Always so ready to get down to business!! Ochako appreciates that about Cairngorm, which is why she turns right around and begins walking into the forest. This... is going to be a beautiful disaster.]

Yeah! I'm as ready as I can bee, too! [She pauses, trying to let her Hilarious Pun sink in, before charging right ahead.] Bees like flowers, so I thought we'd look around this clearing I know? It's full of lavender and other pretty things.

[And she could leave it at that, because #business, but this... is Ochako, the friendliest person alive. She has to turn back to give the gem a wide smile.]

It's good to see you again, Cairngorm. I haven't stopped by the library in such a long time!

[She's a bad student...]

So the bees... gather up nectar from flowers, right? They have to fly around for a long time, and visit a ton of different flowers. [She spreads her arms wide out here, trying to demonstrate the SCALE of this operation!] But when they do have enough, they go back to their hive and, like... put it inside honeycomb so they can eat it when it's too cold to fly!

[Somewhere in the Real World, a tear springs to the eye of Ochako's middle school science teacher. It wasn't the worst explanation in the world! It's proof that she half-listened in class, at least.]

That's why we don't want to take too much. One of us can keep them distracted, and the other person can float up and grab just enough honeycomb to fill the jar. I'm thinking one or two pieces should be okay?
